Would it be to the greater interest (or at least benefit) of those involved to implore, beseech and/or ascertain that which is sought for a second time?

I don't mean to be a pest, but wouldn't the opposite of THEM actually be US? Both are the objective forms of their respective pronouns.

OK, just wondering--on with the game.

The pictures posted by honsule via the link (above) are absolutely horrific. Please be made aware of this if your sensibilities are easily compromised.

That being said, thank you, honsule, for posting the link. Only by seeing these can we really even begin to grasp the degree of carnage brought forth by these bombings.

My heart is heavy. cry

It is early in the US where I live.  I, too, have just heard of the bombings.  Words cannot express my sadness for the people of Nigeria.   cry

@Ayowumie:
What is "Christmas Rice"? I'm not Nigerian and this is unfamiliar to me.

BTW, good luck on having your wish come true! wink
Religion / Re: What Are Your Plans For Christmas? by drrionelli(m): 4:35am On Dec 23, 2011
I intend to spend the day relatively quietly.  I enjoy reflecting on the meaning of the day.  I'm not sure, yet, if I'll attend a church service, but I very well might do that.  I'll also be calling, texting and emailing all my family and friends, some of whom I've not been in contact with for quite some time.

And, of course, I'll have music around me.  I'll be listening to every bit of music of the season that I can find, and I'll dust off my nylon-string guitar and play some holiday tunes, as well.  I'll probably take a walk, just to see the many manifestations of joy that show themselves at this time of year.

And, while I'm here, please let me extend to you, my dear friends at nairaland.com, my wishes for you to enjoy Christmas to its fullest and its most complete.  Whatever you celebrate and however you celebrate it,  make it the finest that it can be!

Merry Christmas!!

@anonymous6:
Thank you for the very helpful links you've provided. I was hoping that I could hear from some individuals as to how they each celebrate. Certainly, everybody has traditions that they have gotten from previous generations and those that they'll pass on, as well.

Anyone?

Since this topic began, I've learned so much! Thank you all for participating in it!

I've brought it back to the top, again, as I'd like to read some more of how Christmas is celebrated in Nigeria. Perhaps, someday I'll get to be in Nigeria for the Christmas holidays!

But, until then, please regale me with your stories of what I might be looking forward to!

Thanks, and I hope you all have the Merriest Christmas possible!!
