PoliticsBoko Haram:cjtf Arrests Shekau's Suspected Impostor by drsteroid(op): 7:37am On Feb 22, 2016
As the battle for the final clear out of Boko Haram remnants continues in the North East, the local security volunteer group, known as Civilian JTF, in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, yesterday, claimed it had arrested a notorious Boko Haram kingpin, named Bashir.

The Civilian JTF noted that the Boko Haram kingpin, popularly called Bashir Sarkin Yanka, which in Hausa means “Bashir the King of Slaughter” had been the terrorist acting as Abubakar Shekau in some videos on the social media.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military, yesterday, said it was yet to confirm the speculation over the arrest of the Boko Haram kingpin.

A statement signed by Air Commodore Dele Alonge from the Information Office of Operation Lafiya Dole also disclosed that two suspected Boko haram members, who infiltrated an IDPs camp, have been arrested.

The statement read:  “The Nigerian military has arrested two suspects, Audu Umar and Hassan Umar, for smuggling themselves among the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) brought from Pulka to Gwoza IDPs camp in Borno State.

“The male suspects, who gave their names as Audu Umar and Hassan Umar are undergoing interrogation by the military and intelligence operatives.

“Meanwhile, the Nigerian military is yet to confirm the speculation over an arrest of Boko Haram kingpin, popularly known as Bashir Sarkin Yanka, which in Hausa means “Bashir the King of Slaughter.”

The spokesperson of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, said the military cannot confirm the arrest of Shekau’s actor even as the military has sustained its counter-insurgency operations where some terrorists have been eliminated and others apprehended in the North-East.

The arrested suspect was reported to have confessed to the Civilian JTF that he had acted as Boko Haram Leader, “Shekau” in some videos and was responsible for the death of his (Bashir’s) mother, two sisters and brother, apart from engaging in mass slaughtering.

Its obvious, cos for the past 3days our light hasn't gone off, even thou we are on 33kva line which makes the power supply in my area stable, but we have never had uninterupted power supply for three straight days before..Thumbs up to the FG and the Power stakeholders..
Its still a pity that we are celebrating a meagre 5000mw power supply as a Nation, but we will get there.I believe Fashola and this present Govt will really bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians with steady Power supply before the end of this Govt's tenure.

PoliticsMetuh Issues First Statement Since His Release From Prison by drsteroid(op): 6:28pm On Jan 29, 2016
Mr. Metuh was freed on bail after over three weeks in detention. He is standing trial for alleged corruption.
In his first public statement since leaving the Kuje prison, Mr. Metuh said the PDP has since overcome the initial trauma that accompanied the electoral setback of the 2015 general elections, and is now poised to regain power at the center in 2019.
Mr. Metuh said the, “recent variance of voices” from its members is as a result of the party’s foundation of liberal democracy, which he described as a mark of strength, adding that the party has adequate internal mechanisms to resolve all issues within its fold.
The comments were contained in his opening remark at a meeting of the party’s Publicity Directorate with some visiting parliamentarians from the United Kingdom, led by Mark Field, member of Parliament and Chairman of International Office of the Conservative Party, and Colin Bloom, Director of Outreach-BCP in Abuja on Friday.
He told the visitors that the PDP faced serious challenges soon after it lost in the elections, culminating in the resignation of its National Chairman, a development that created some challenges within the party, but assured that every issue would be resolved by the party leadership by next week.
In his remark, Mr. Field advised the party to ensure that it does not trash its brand in the face of challenges. He noted that while it is common for some party members to demand the removal of leaders after electoral defeat, care must be taken not to jeopardize institutional memory in the party.

“Never trash your brand no matter whatever the government of the day is saying about you”, he said.
The interaction was attended by PDP publicity staff, social media workers of the party and officials of the International Republican Institute, IRI, who facilitated the visit.

Please, my fiance has been on glasses for a while now owing to the fact that he has myopia and he was encouraged that it will control it and alongside, he was given ofloxacin eye drop which i know its antibacterial, what can he do to control it and the right eye drop to use because i realized that the use of atropine can be dangerous. Thanks.
Good day! Since your fiance was diagnosed of having myopia, the best treatment options are Spectacle lenses or Contact lens. Surgery is also an option.
Please I will like to know how your fiance came about using atropine, and why it was prescribed..cos the drug is not a drug to be used without doctor's prescription and monitoring.. Atropine narrows or close the anterior chamber angle, blocking aqueous outflow which can lead to Angle Closure Glaucoma, which in turn leads to blindness. Hence, extreme care must be taken when using Atropine expecially on Patients with narrow angle. I will like to know why he is using Atropine.

CrimeEFCC Arraigns Two Oil Dealers For Petroleum Equalisation Fraud by drsteroid(op): 6:08pm On Jan 28, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 28, 2016 arraigned the duo of Aku Ben Aku and Philips James Aliku alongside their company, Al-Aminu Oil and Gas Limited, before Justice Sulaiman Aliyu Tukur  of the High Court of Kaduna State, Kaduna on a five -count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N14, 602, 600.00 (Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and Two Thousand, Six Hundred Naira).

The offence is contrary to Section 8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable Under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

The first accused person, Aku, while being in the employ of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund Board, allegedly registered a private company, Al-Aminu Oil and Gas, where he is a director.

Aku, allegedly conspired with the second accused person, Aliku, who is also a director of the company, and obtained the sum of N14, 602, 600.00 (Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and Two Thousand, Six Hundred Naira) from the Federal Government on the pretence that the money was for the loading and selling of petroleum products by the filling station purportedly located on Madikiya Road, Kafancha, Kaduna State.

Count one of the charge reads:

‘‘That you Aku Ben ‘M’,   Philips James Aliku ‘M’, whilst being Directors of Al-Aminu Oil and Gas Limited on about the 11th day of February, 2014 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Kaduna State did, with intent to defraud, conspired to obtain the sum of N14, 602, 600.00( Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and Two Thousand and Six Hundred Naira) from the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Petroleum Equalisation Fund( Management) Board under the pretence that the said sum represented the loading and selling of petroleum products in the non-existent filling station, claimed to be located along Madikiya Road, Kafancha, Kaduna State.

The said sum paid through Zenith Bank Plc. account No. 1013733208, which representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 8(a) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.’’

Another count reads:

‘‘That you Aku Ben Aku ‘M’, Phillips James Aliku ‘M’, whilst being Directors of Aminu Oil and Gas Limited, on or about the 11th day of February, 2014 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Kaduna State did, with intent to defraud and in order to facilitate obtaining the sum of 14, 602, 600.00 (Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and Two Thousand and Six Hundred Naira)) by false pretence from the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Petroleum Equalisation Fund ( Management) Board knowingly and fraudulently used as genuine a forged document titled ‘‘The Department of Petroleum Resources’’ Receipt No. DPR/ No.0452666, dated 15th October, 2014 made in favour of Al-Aminu Oil and Gas Limited by  presenting the document to the Petroleum Equalisation Fund( Management) Board, purporting the document to have been issued by Department of Petroleum Resources( DPR) and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 364 of the Penal Code Cap 532 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria( Abuja)1990".

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were  read to them.

In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Steve Odiase , asked the court for a trial date.
In response, the  defence counsel, F. C. Ikpe, told the court that there was a pending application for bail and prayed the court to grant  the accused bail on liberal terms. The prosecution counsel did not oppose the bail application.

After listening to both counsel, Justice Tukur granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N1million (One Million Naira) each, with one surety each in like sum. The accused persons must deposit their international passports with the court registrar.

Each of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 14 or a principal officer in a company.

The accused  persons are to be remanded in Kaduna Prison pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions.
The case has been adjourned  to March 11, 2016 for trial.

Hello Doc, I don't have any medical issues but my eyes are most times red. it becomes very reddish when I'm stressed or couldn't get enof sleep or hungry grin
it doesn't come with any sort of pain or itching, just reddish.
pls what can I do to make ppl believe I don't smoke.
Happy new year..Sorry,I have been so busy. From your explanation,it showed that the redness often experienced may not be pathological( diseased condition).Stress, lack of Sleep are some of the major causes of conjuctival congestion( redness of the eyes),this is because there is usually extremem pressure on the walls of the blood vessels leading to vasodilatation which brings about increase blood flow to the conjuctival vessels thereby causing vessels congestion which manifest as red eyes. I will advice you always make out time to rest when needed and avoid murdering sleep during the night.you can also create time to visit an Eye Clinic for a comprehensive Eye Check just to know the status of your Eye health. Thanks
