EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by DSSHQ: 10:22am On Aug 28, 2017
PTDF have not acted responsibly. For the fact that they charged application fees for this scholarship, applicants should at least know their fate. Look at Chevening scholarship. They have a time frame for everything as it pertains to the scholarship. A friend has received his letter already and things are going on as planned.
PTDF have no excuse whatsoever. I mean, why ask people to apply, raise their hopes and then do things to suit their own agenda? That's pure filth.
Going forward, PhD applicants can find alternative sources of funding their education. Write the GRE and apply to schools in the USA. With some publications, your chances are higher. Same goes for Canada though it can be more competitive.
For the UK, If you're a top performer (First class + publications), you can apply to Oxbridge and Imperial. They have scholarships for top students. Imperial has 50 scholarships for PhD applicants from around the world yearly. Oxbridge is competitive but you never know until you apply. With some publications and a masters degree (2.1 Undergraduate degree), I was able to get in.
Some other schools have too but very few especially for International students.University of Warwick has scholarships for PhD applicants as well.

Good luck.

Very correct. Many more will get LSS this year.
usqoh:
Both LSS and OSS hopefuls will feel the heat. Everyone deserves to know his/her outcome by now regardless of ASUU strike or not.

And don't even think u can't b a LSS Scholar because you applied for OSS. Last year, considerable amount of guys got LSS Scholarship as a compensation even though they applied for OSS. So we are all in this together.

Mayflowa is right. Yes Pressid ended with GEJ but the management of the scholarship was transfered to PTDF. Imagine you are on your PhD program , and due to a change in government, You are required to stop the program abruptly. So PTDF took over the management of the program. I am believing funds were also transferred to them as well. I don't know about tetfund though.

Let me say this here to probably encourage someone. Last week, I received an e-mail from a Professor in a UK University. I applied for admission there and surprisingly I was admitted. The school is quite difficult to get into. I hoped to get funding as they received generous funding from their alumni. I couldn't get. The Professor's e-mail was straight to the point 'I am contacting you because you're on of the few students joining the xxxxx research group, of which I'm the leader. Are you enrolling this October ?'

No funds to pay for a minimum of three years school fees. Besides, I am one of those who believes a good PhD should be funded. I told him I would love to but funding is the issue. He arranged a Skype meeting with me which turned out to be an interview. On the said day, he and another Professor were present. It was a firing section. Lol. Those kind of simple questions that you believe you are supposed to know but you don't have a direct answer. One of the questions - Why are horinzontal axis wind turbines usually white in colour ?
Without thinking, I said for visibility. Lol. It turned out to be nearly correct.

The pseudo-interview ended and the Professor told me to expect an update in 24 hours. In summary, I have received a fully funded PhD offer (With some conditions which are okay ).
Brethren, never give up. My interview with PTDF didn't go well. The panel obviously didn't like my area of renewable energy (And I wasn't ready to change It before the interview either.). Surprisingly, everything has worked together for good. It is still like a dream to me. I wish everyone good luck with the expected outcome from PTDF. Don't give up even if things don't go as planned.

(Please pardon any errors in my post)

You're right about RGU.
guiddoti:
Yeah sir, your commando tone, though.

In case you don't know, you should consider area of specialisation in your choice of schools. Some schools have specialisation in geosciences only, some in specific engineering courses, some in commerce courses, some in classic art and languages. Take for example, Robert Gordon is best specialised in drilling course but is low rated university. Almost all drilling companies train their staffs in Robert Gordon university on their drilling lab for modal test.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by DSSHQ: 8:51am On Aug 03, 2017
Exactly. UK schools don't wait for all applicants to submit their application before making a decison. Most schools in the USA only review applications after the deadline. That's doesn't mean all USA schools are good or even better than the UK.
geobukky:
I'm actually surprised, when I applied there for structural geology with geophysics the process took 2 months and there was an entrance test. That been said, that they offer quick admission doesn't make their standard poor.
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by DSSHQ: 11:22am On Aug 02, 2017
Are you sure? Many people had alot of external help. Two guys I know have been so sure they will make the list. They got reliable information that the questions for a particular option was from a website. Apart from having access to the 'foreign' words, some also had access those questions. So you can't cancel any part of the test because you don't know the level of 'help' people received.
UAD17:
Dear Flexisaf

For this CBT to be considered fair, I think the hounourable thing to do is to cancel those foreign English words questions totaling about 30. All the major contoversies surrounding this test revolve round those questions. My honest opinion.

Alot of people will score above average.
motivationspika:
like seriously, where did you get your facts from? DPR or SNAPNET? Even 51% is on the high side considering the nature of the exam. Forget all this one people are saying the exam was easy. The end will justify the means.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by DSSHQ: 12:12pm On Jul 31, 2017
Someone who I think knows alot about this recruitment said the same thing. So I believe this.He further said the average could be high as 75% in order to reduce the number of candidates for the next stage. He said alot has been spent on the current stage and there is need to prune down the number.
usqoh:
@Serious minded people only. The following things will happen if the source I got is genuine:

a. Every candidate must score at least above average mark of 23. (51.1%) to be eligible for next stage. Shortlisting at this stage does not depend on experience hire or graduate trainee nor your state or course. Only d score

b. The next stage is d skill test. Shortlisting at this stage will not only take into account your score but also state, category, course and d no of positions.

c. The last stage of the recruitment is interview.

Though there will b political slot, nepotism and fallacy in d recruitment, however a very good amount of people will get d scholarship by merit.

Okay. Thanks
Mayflowa:
The reason is not far-fetched. Most science students, engineering up to agriculture and some social science undergraduates take classes with Mathematics dept. So the dept is always in need of Graduate Assistant to cater for the need of the students
EducationRe: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by DSSHQ: 5:00pm On Jul 29, 2017
I think you should start by taking the GRE. A score of at least 164 in the quant, plus a good SOP & CGPA , you are good to go. Mayflowa can shed more light on it. It is a bit easy for mathematics graduates compared to engineering graduates. I really don't know why that's so.

Lol. I noticed the bias for lecturers. Your proposal plays a huge part As well. A friend told me about some likely objections to my research proposal because it focuses on energy storage; something not so common among Nigerian researchers. Lo and behold, they asked the same thing. They were even saying why did my school not fund me. It was just funny.
usqoh:
This PTDF team are so much enthusiastic about lecturers. Well i hope there are no lecturers from my state and they performed poorly in research proposal defence.

If they defended well and answer all PTDF questions that was asked, no hope.

At your spare time, you can return to FUTA and ask for a refund for your school fees. Since you lack the ability to comprehend and apply your senses. You make FUTA and their electronics/electrical engineering department look silly for having you as an alumni. Well, on the other side, your result wasn't so good, so they let you pass through. Temitope, you need to reason. You're not a small child any more. Your lack of smartness at 28 years of age makes you think gaining unfair advantage will give you success. Spend time and work on yourself. You can describe your test experience to others here but posting of the test questions? That's silly, anytime, any day!
Igemburg:
U dey sound like person wey no pass thru uni at all. Why are u bothered about that?. People like you are self centered. Am sure u won't even share with your blood brother if I have the advantage.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by DSSHQ:
The person who told you that you are competiting against yourself lied to you. By the end of this year/ early next year, you will understand the consequence of that action. I'm sure you think it is WAEC you're writing where everybody can pass the examination and the result will be declared likewise. A select few will be called. Those who will be called clearly performed better than their contemporaries. Keep sharing the questions here. The examination is simple for a reason. Common sense should teach people that you don't have to share examination questions for a competitive recruitment process.
DouglasHoc:
From my test experience today, the questions shared on the platform so far were not repeated. Just that it followed the same pattern like was postulated. Series, fill in the blanks. And to those believing they at a disadvantage by sharing questions, in my there is no such thing as advantage or disadvantage. You are competing against Yourself and not any other person. You will be selected for what you have done and not for what the other person has done. Just do your best and if it is good enough you will get there and if it is not On To The Next One. Live goes on. My two cents

I hope they do that for oversea guys. The flight tickets these day is enough to buy a land. Moreso, thinks PhD is one from each state. The resources to risk for it is too weighty

Enter a vehicle going towards Oyigbo. Tell them to stop you at tap junction. Locating the place shouldn't be difficult from there.
athorello:
How can one get there from say Rumuola? I know I've been to Moscow rd before but I've not gone round phc that much save for my obio-akpor axis.

I was initially scheduled for 24th batch A but has now been updated to 27th. Currently in lag but I don't want to attempt rescheduling and relocation.

DPR should have made that option available because this application was over 8 months back and many people have changed locations.

PTDF never releases the result of their OSS scholarship exam so quickly. They take time to analyse the results and select the candidates. Besides, the list is usually released along side the list of successful PhD candidates.
