Politics / Ibb Is Behind Abuja Bomb Blasts by dTouch: 8:28pm On Oct 09, 2010
IBB is behind Abuja bomb blasts
-Militant group
Port Harcourt, 10/08/10 http://www.africanexaminer.com/ibb_attack

UNREPENTANT militants of the Niger Delta have introduced
another seeming curious dimension to the alleged terrorist
attack in Abuja on Friday, October 1, 2010.

The Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC), a network of some
unrepentant insurgents, claimed in an on-line statement to
AkanimoReports on Thursday that former military ruler and a
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant,
General Ibrahim Babangida, was behind the attack.

Spokesperson of the group, Mr. Bakabio Walter, said in the
statement: ''We were approached earlier by agents of IBB to
carry out attacks in the Niger Delta and Abuja to demystify
President Goodluck Jonathan and show that he does not
have the support of his people, but we declined''.

According to them, ''it was because of this that we suspended
our armed campaign this year. We realised that IBB was
going to use our genuine agitation to his own selfish,
unpatriotic and over ambitious advantage''.

''It was when we declined that they approached Henry Okah
who is a mercenary by nature, and they started with the
Warri bomb blasts followed by this October 1, attacks'', they
added.

Continuing, the JRC said, ''for now we can say authoritatively
that Okah heads IBB's terror machine and theirs is more
sophisticated than what they have done so far. Jonathan
beware!

''Recent events in the politics of the Nigerian State further
exposes the ethnic and national contradictions and justify our
agitations for self determination and call for a Sovereign
National Conference of all the nationalities that were
forcefully conscripted into Nigeria. This is the only peaceful
way of getting out of this babarism that is threatening to
create the biggest refugee problem in the world.

''We would like to use this medium to warn Nigeria's dirty
politicians not to drag our region and its genuine struggle
into their muddy water of politics.

''Also, those who are planning to organise a coup de'tat
should know that they would have us to contend with as we
will never allow their authority to extend into our region. We
are watching keenly as the drama unfolds, knowing that after
all this mad dance of macabre we shall meet at the
barricade''.

A text message sent to the spokesperson of the IBB
campaign organisation Kassim Afegbua to react to the story
was not returned.
Politics / Re: Don’t Be Deceived By Jonathan’s Rented Crowd - Saraki by dTouch: 9:51pm On Sep 26, 2010
Ok, Saraki has a right to his opinions so also ALL here but methinks opinions should not just castigate but proffer solutions to a vexing issue. On a lighter note, which is even why I'm posting, I imagined an interview of Babangida, Saraki, Atiku and Jonathan go as follows:
Question - What, in brief, are your programs for Nigeria?
Babangida - I will RULE Nigeria for 4 years and you don't have clearance to ask anything else.
Saraki - I will ask Papa first.
Atiku - Zoning shall be maintained
Jonathan - Credible elections, Power, Education and my wife must be obeyed.

Politics / Jonathan, Ibb Open Presidential Bids by dTouch: 12:58pm On Sep 17, 2010
Jonathan, IBB open presidential bids
The Guardian, THURSDAY, 16 SEPTEMBER 2010

“I, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, a servant of our people, a loyal member of the PDP hereby formally declare my candidacy to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the 2011 election for only one term of four years, so help me God.”

''I, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, by the grace of God hereby offer myself and my services to the Nigerian people as a candidate for the office of President in the forth coming 2011 elections. In presenting myself for service, I make no pretense that I have a magic wand that will solve all of Nigeria’s problems or that I am the most intelligent Nigerian.”

Is there anything in the declarations above that show the service temperament of the esteemed gentlemen seeking the votes of Nigerians to rule this great nation? Oya discuss. grin grin
Religion / Re: What Is Meant By "the Permissive Will Of God". by dTouch: 7:19am On Sep 10, 2010
eyzhvntsn:

I believe that there is the path that a man takes that is according to God's general will and is in accordance with the scriptures however it becomes permissive when it is not the path that God has ordained for that particular individual,

Thanks eyzhvntsn (how do you pronounce this?). My understanding of the word 'Permissive' is 'allowed but not obligatory; optional', the antonym for Permissive, I believe, is Mandatory. Does God actually send mixed signals?- It is mandatory to not steal and in another breadth you may steal. This business of permissive and perfect will of God seem to suggest that God prevaricates on the virtue of obedience to His will as even the scenario in the above quote paints. Is there any SCRIPTURE to support the "permissive will" principle? I will rather be guided by the scriptures not by the fancy of some theologian or preacher.
Religion / What Is Meant By "the Permissive Will Of God". by dTouch: 8:47pm On Sep 09, 2010
I have had difficulty trying to explain what this means because I don't believe God's will has degrees. It's either His will or it's not. Help me out here.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know for sure that she is a "slut"? Is this hearsay or have you actually seen her in the act with these other people you claim she's been with?

@ inked nerd. One of the commendable things the law has done, is the proof required in establishing some sexual activity between a man and a woman. Proof of closeness, outings, smiling with each other (don't laugh) hands holding, etc put together is enough. The reasoning is bottomed in the reality that it is just impossible to catch them in the act. Now you know, so be careful. On whether or not to Amebo (apologies to buzugee ma friend) dude has to diplomatically advise girl to come clean with her guy FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP. Dude don't tell guy all you know, just a little to kindle some curiosity to ask for details from girl. No go threaten-o, bc she fit talk say na bad bellus sake of say she no gree do sontin. I shouldn't be here. Why do we post some of these nonsense? The shortness of the survey is that it was conducted in Lagos and may be Abuja. These places, no offence (Mr. Cork forgive me) do not represent Nigeria. Most Lagos peeps are overdressed and can be vain. We have sharp guys in Port Harcourt, Owerri, Enugu, Kano, etc, etc. And what parameters were used to judge dress sense? Why am I even here?

NB : Please, don't give me the usual "god works in mysterious ways" or " the ways of the lord cannot be understood" or " do not question the lord" crap.I've heard it one time too many.

Truly, "God works in mysterious ways", " the ways of the Lord cannot be understood" and " do not question the Lord". It's all I can say. You may have "heard it one time too many" but your heart is so perverted that it is impossible to understand. You need help, bro and I pray that eventually the God you deny will send help. The questions you ask expose the state of your heart. You need help.

Talk is cheap. The man is entitled to his opinion. I surely know he is not speaking for me. By the way, who or what does North refer to? To the best of my knowledge, it is a heterogeneous entity with varying (and often conflicting interests). His purpose could be better served by being more precise such as say, the Hausas or something of that nature.

A venerable old man once told me that opinions are like the buttocks, everybody has one. The problem is the use to which the buttocks is put. Some use it to desecrate an environment and cause offence. It can also be used in a decorous and civilized manner. Tke a pick.

@Busybody and Chika, you guys have effectively drawn the curtain here. Nice. Please Chika, marriage can be scary and at once exciting. Two things you must know: 1. marriage is not a partnership between 2 equals. One is the head and the other is the helper. Although the head has absolute power, yes, absolute power, in the home but the beauty of his power is in the restraint, care and love he shows to the weaker vessel. That is why he is termed Godly when he functions in this mode. This is being in the image of God. Two, the thing wey dey scatter house no be the other woman for outside, na the woman wey dey inside and drive husband to that yeye one. How she take do am? Count your teeth with your tongue.

@buzugee, I believe this Ada, with all due respects, must have had a very challenging experience in Nigeria. Whew!! Sorry! I have heard of people who were so challenged, they used left over flakes of abandoned bath soap as toothpaste. It can be rough here. I also saw one Nigerian in one very fashionable European city hawking toy snakes in temps of -2 deg cent. Life can be sad.

Yeah, people go to other countries for different reasons, but y'all paint a picture of Nigeria like Nigeria its Afghanistan or Baghdad.

Example is when you say such things like "a poo hole where most of its citizens are surviving and living by God's grace."

It gives that impression like you are better off than most Nigerians or other countries are far better than Nigerians living at home.
Absolutely not!

I was in UK and i've been back in Nigeria since 2009. Never looked back since then and so have numerous friends of mine.

Part of the reason I dismissed "at least 95%" is the impression that the things they have learnt or should I say acquired are the bad language e.g. "poo, ", disrespect for Nigeria, etc. Increasingly, I am feeling justified. Salamsm, you are the man. The vuvus are still on.

Why do they automatically assume that the reason those abroad don't want to return home is because they are suffering and
don't have anything to show for it? Why is it hard to accept the fact that Nigeria is a very under-developed country even when
the facts are right in their faces?  Fact is Nigeria is our place of birth, but that doesn't change the fact that its a poo hole where
most of its citizens are surviving and living by God's grace.

hmmmm. where is salamsm, eh? That Nigeria is under-developed is nothing new. May be, just may be, some have seen the light while staying in the US. hahaha. Surviving and living by God's grace is all I ask for in this life. For you see, " in Him I live and have my being, " hehehe.

I never said Nigeria has no issues. Where in this world do we have a perfect system? I don't have the time to gripe about what's not going on well. I do try, in my little corner, to make a difference, to show that I am not a Nigerian by accident. I believe the scripture that '' from one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.'' Acts 17:26-28. Where do you stand bro?

I believe that at least 95% of Nigerians abroad are incompetent and unskilled folks. They stand for nothing and will fall for anything. They are not employable even at home. That's why they will cite NEPA, Health care and basic amenities as reasons for staying out. Are they better than those in Nigeria. We see them and how they miserably eke out a living abroad. Most can't even afford the fare home. Disgusting. They give us all a bad name.

British Homosexual Priest to Marry Nigerian Male Model
08.21.2010 - ThisDay Newspapers

A homosexual Church of England priest has announced plans to "marry" his Nigerian male model boyfriend, who is 40 years his junior.

The Rev Colin Coward, 64, a priest at St John the Baptist church in Devizes, Wilts, is to enter into a civil partnership with his boyfriend Bobby Egbele, 25.The union has caused a stir among Christians because the couple plan a carefully-worded "blessing" service in church after the ceremony

Mr Coward has also declined to confirm that he will remain celibate following the union, which is a requirement the Church of England asks of its ordained homosexual clergy.
Mr Coward, who lives with his boyfriend in Marston, near Devizes, said he hoped his union would set a “visible example” to other homosexuals within the church.

He said: “My goal is for everyone within the church to feel comfortable with the situation because at the moment the majority of gay Christians marry secretly.
“It is a taboo subject but the church is now under huge pressure to change its stance and that pressure will only increase in the future.

“Clearly the blessing is going to be quite a sensitive issue. I know that many people will see it and view it with horror.
“But we are both deeply committed Christians so it would be unthinkable for me not to do it in church and not to do it with the congregation and with all of our friends.“I hope my wedding will inspire others and set a visible example to the church that we are not afraid.”

Guys, on Amos Adamu, this is what Mr. Adokiye Amiesimaka reortedly to the Vanguard:

“We should look at the link between football administration in Nigeria and FIFA and that link is Amos Adamu.
He is a civil servant in the presidency, President Jonathan needs to look at his role in the football administration in Nigeria, he is the one FIFA listens to, because he is a member of FIFA executive committee. It is not enough to dissolve the NFA or to voluntarily withdraw from international competitions, We need to x-ray him, how useful has his role been to Nigeria, do we really need him, don’t we have a better candidate who can portray Nigeria in good light in FIFA and CAF, these are pertinent questions that needs answers”, Amiesimaka said.

Taiwo Ogunjobi of the now defunct NFF reportedly said the following according to the Vanguard:

“The truth of the matter is that this country belongs to all of us and it is not proper for anyone to hold the nation to a ransom. After serving the country, it is time for us to give others the chance to contribute their quota to national growth.
“It is only a lunatic who would be fighting with the government of the day because after all, most of us, are beneficiaries of government’s favour, as far as membership of the board is concerned. Government funds football and has every right to give inputs into how things should be done if it notices that the interest of the nation is being compromised.
“I have been part of the game for sometime now and I can tell you authoritatively that football would be dead in the country if government withdraws its funding because it is the biggest source of our funding and how can we now be seen to be disrespecting the same institution that is supporting us.
“I have advised the other members of the Executive Committee, to listen to the people’s voice, which is that they need a change of leadership. It is only proper to bow out when the ovation is loudest because I believe that as far as one is alive, one can still come back and contribute to national growth, in the area of football administration”, added Ogunjobi.
He continued that “our tenure has actually ended and we are ready to make way for the caretaker panel, which is what the Nigerians want. I think, it is only reasonable for us to respect the wishes of the people”.

Sports / Re: Fifa Give Nigeria 48 Hours Ultimatum To Reverse Ban. by dTouch: 8:26pm On Jul 03, 2010
The amount of people who have supported this ban shows that Nigeria's problem is its people, and not just the leaders. Majority of the people think just like the leaders: they have a good intent for a change but lack don't take the proper steps in effectuating that change, and don't think about the repercussions of the proposed steps. Jonathan as clearly shown he has no regard for the rule of law, and all these people are supporting him because it appears to be seemingly in their favor.

When this same Jonathan now bans the internet and cable TV and cell phone from cos from operating because there is some corruption somewhere, or when he starts to act like Abacha by arresting and killing people without following the rule of law, then you guys will start crying. Jonathan is showing the qualities of a dictator like Abacha and Babangida.

Pray what is "the rule of law" doing here? Nigeria has the unfettered right to or not to play football forever. Nigeria is acting within her rights here. Or can someone educate me on the methods or means by which a nation can tell FiFA it wants to leave the association. Vuvuzelaaaahh, where are you? I need to blow for Germany.

Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Technical Committee, Taiwo Ogunjobi yesterday said that the body was not in anyway resisting government’s order to withdraw all national teams from the international football scene for the next two years. He also said that they were ready to resign their membership of the body.
He also admitted that since their tenure originally expired before the start of the World Cup, that it would be wrong for them to still be occupying their respective positions, adding that they were ready to give way for the caretaker committee, announced Thursday night, to organise credible elections into the next board.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Saturday Sports Vanguard, the former Secretary-General of the NFA, said that anybody defying government’s order, is out of touch with reality.
“We are not dragging powers with anybody because we have done our term and are ready to hand over to whosoever gets duly elected in the next elections. We can never drag powers with government, which funds us, because we are responsible individuals who place the interest of the nation, above, ours.

Taiwo Ogunjobi
“The truth of the matter is that this country belongs to all of us and it is not proper for anyone to hold the nation to a ransom. After serving the country, it is time for us to give others the chance to contribute their quota to national growth.
