PoliticsRe: NAFDAC Destroys Fake, Expired Drugs Worth ₦4.7 Billion In Rivers by DuBLINGreenb(m):
People don’t even read beyond the headlines,
Majority of The drugs were VOLUNTARILY handed over to nafdac immediately they expired by pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies across the 6 South-South States. (Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, Cross-River and Akwa Ibom)

It’s not as if one man or a few people were found with all those drugs. It’s mostly legit companies that handed their expired drugs to Nafdac.

Meanwhile when Nigeria go leave backwardness behind? Isn’t there a less harmful way to burn these medicines without creating soot and such huge open fires and harmful smoke that may have adverse effects on the environment and people living nearby. Like this smokeless hospital waste incinerator

Setting fire to certain medications can create toxic fumes, skin rashes, and when rain falls some people fetch rain water to cook, bath and wash with, which can lead to something else. Because the soot from the medications just burnt are still in the atmosphere. Nafdac needs to improve this is 2025 for God’s sake. They can get 1 of these machines for each geopolitical zone and schedule destruction of these medications once a month or once every 3 months so it doesn’t pile up so much.

6 geopolitical zones = 6 machines
6 machines X ~5,000,000 naira
= ~30,000,000 naira.

Nafdac budget for 2024 for “staff welfare package” alone was 6,670,000,000 naira that’s 6.67 billion naira

So ikwerre dey bear Emeka? wonderful!
You igbos read too much tribalism into everything.

Rivers people are not like that; hence Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi = bearing Rotimi despite no Yoruba ancestry.

Mujahid Asari, I can name many others, I know rivers people who aren’t even Muslims named Aisha, Amal, Abdul, Mohammed, Aliyu etc.

I also know rivers people with English and Portuguese last names like Horsefall, Long John, Georgewill, Duke etc.

Rivers people aren’t tribalistic like the rest of Nigeria. So they aren’t afraid that if I name my child English name, Hausa name, Igbo name or Yoruba name other rivers people will use the name to insult, ridicule or ostracize them and deny the child job or anything the child deserves simply because his name sounds like another tribes name.

I know Rivers people with Indian names: like Sunita infact there is a family from Rivers state called India west and India Yellow are they Indians?

Visit Port harcourt you will understand what I mean. Very free liberal people when it comes to tribe. Every tribe will feel at home in Rivers State.

Also if you check I am sure even you typing this have an English or Arabic name depending on your religion.
John Obi Mikel = 2 European names 1 Igbo name is he 1/3 Igbo and 2/3 European?

In USA there is a black disney actress named China, she has no Chinese ancestor, there is Paris Hilton her family isn’t from Paris, France, there is the athlete named London he wasn’t named because he has ancestors from there and some persons are named Milan they are not from Milan in Italy and Mariah Carey’s son is named Cairo he isn’t from Egypt
All these people are Americans.
Barrack Obama is not from the Barracks.
The actress Sharon Stone isn’t the descendant of an actual stone

It’s just unfortunate that you igbos saw this liberal group of people and decided to forcefully claim them as igbos not because you love us, but so that you as igbos can be more influential by increased population, more land, access to the ocean, better cities (like Port harcourt), more natural resources especially oil.
The people have told you we are not Igbo but you insist that if we aren’t Yoruba or Hausa then we must be Igbo. What sort of backward colonial mentality is that.

You don’t respect us, you don’t care about us, you don’t love us you only love the idea of a bigger more powerful Igbo. Imagine if every non Yoruba and Hausa/fulani group was Igbo how much bigger and influential the Igbo could become. That’s all you are thinking about.

I am crying for Nigeria,
For you reading this, my heart aches,
I want to go straight to the point no parables, no big English, no legalese, no literary ingenuity nothing at all just straight from my heart.

I just realized there is no country on earth where a Nigerian earning minimum wage wouldn’t be classified as poor. Let us leave western countries and look at India 🇮🇳 in India families that earn 200,000 naira are the poorest families in Nigeria if you earn 200,000 naira people will tell you congratulations you are a big man or big woman. You are trying.
In South Africa with your 200,000 naira you are poor 1,000 Rand per month is considered poorest of the poor but that 1,000rand is 81,500 naira. If you have 81,000 naira monthly will be considered poor in Nigeria? Not because you can afford anything in the market but because other people don’t even earn 30,000 monthly let alone over 2 and half times that amount.

We as a people as a country are proud over nothing, loud for no reason.

Just keep quiet 🤐 look around you suffering EVERYWHERE.

If suffering and poverty hasn’t knocked your door yet don’t worry give it time it will soon be at your doorstep. Why do you think Inspector General of police doesn’t want to retire? General Overseers at 70 years, 80 years don't want to retire? You think they love the work or they are scared of being too far away from the source of their income?

Ice cream, Pizza, Burger, shawarma, meat, fish and many more are considered “big man food” in Nigeria.

I know people who own houses but cannot feed well,
People who own cars and generators but cannot fuel it. People who own lands but cannot fence it. And with each passing year it is getting worse.

The rich have become middle class those people who bought land in Eko Atlantic for example believing they will build it in 2-5 years became poorer due to several currency devaluations and high cost of building materials so almost all of them slowed down or stopped building entirely, because when they started the building should have cost 10million dollars now costs 30 million dollars the exact same design, size same everything, the middle class who could afford local and international plane tickets, Mr Biggs and private schools back in the day today are struggling to afford inter state buses, as price for bus today is the price air tickets used to be just 3-4 years ago, I used to fly between Lagos, abuja, Port harcourt and Kano for 18,000 naira on Azman, Air peace etc. The expensive planes then were 30,000 naira, today how much is bus from Abuja to Port harcourt, meanwhile the poor have become paupers.
Funny thing is then 5 years ago when I saw the poor, I used to say to myself “SURELY IT CANNOT GET ANY WORSE THAN THIS” this is the hardest it can get, people cannot possibly be any poorer. How wrong I was.

E dey pain me say we still no get good roads outside our capital cities, good drainage, good stable electricity, cheap food, big farms, good security and jobs.

Foreigners cannot come to our country and enjoy it, they cannot live outside Abuja, Lagos and Port harcourt comfortably. The way we can go to their own places and reside comfortably in their 10th most developed city, if they come to our 10th most developed city the SUFFER fit take their lives.

How many people in Nigeria earn 10,000 naira = $6 a day ? Or even 5,000 naira a day = $3.
But our elders, our religious leaders, our politicians, our celebrities are too busy with things that don’t matter; DRESS CODE, why you wear this or that, why you plait hair, Speak good English, why do you play that music, why will he say this in the song, what will my think of me?, neighbour wey never chop fit think? tribalism, religious supremacy.

Person wey never chop dey worry himself about if his tribe is number 1 or number 12, bro there is no drainage in your village but you claim your tribe is the richest HOW? Why? of what use have those “riches” been?

You cannot sleep with 2 eyes closed but your people are the best most smartest people on earth. Is keeping your village underdeveloped and insecure part of the smart moves?

Someone who has not seen electricity for 2 weeks straight is worried that another woman has no bra on. If she wears bra will it give you electricity? Places where they have nood beaches in the abroad have 24/7 electricity despite the very obvious lack of bras there.

Someone who you don’t know how they are managing to survive whether or not tiktok is feeding them you are complaining that they are on TikTok 24/7

We love to Major in minor things, we spend all our life’s worried about nonsense things the same way our fathers did and their fathers before them and now we too are doing the same.

Many years ago in the 1700’s - 1800’s My people divided themselves into groups fought themselves I won’t go into details because I don’t want to give people new reasons to fight, let sleeping dogs lie. These people were all Ijaws and they knew it they were Okirika, Kalabari etc. They fought themselves for land, trade route, water ways, kingship etc.

Shortly after the trade route became obsolete no one was buying s|aves or even palm produce from them because the trade was made illegal and the British were patrolling the high seas. The land they just ki||ed thousands of their brothers for today lies fallow it is a swampy bush no one lives there, if you dash someone land there they won’t take it for a lot of reasons wild animals, insecurity, no roads, oil pollution, no other person lives there where will you buy food and other necessities from?

I have seen many battle fields even in Europe, one bomb crater I saw took the lives of 10,000 soldiers during the war of Stalingrad, Today the world has moved on, forgotten those “great warriors and rulers” in the libraries, in the comments section, I am usually the only one or one of 5 others reading these books and watching these videos, I wish I could ask thise men was that land, that pride, that truth or lie, was it worth your life? I’m 99% sure almost all of them will say NO it wasn’t.

Well I am tired of complaining. So you reading this what are you fighting for? Will it still be as important to you 10 years from today? 50 years from today? 100 years from today? If not then it isn’t worth it.

Whether you are Igbo, Yoruba, fulani, Ibibio, Ijaw like me or a member of any of the many other ethnic groups as long as we find ourselves in Nigeria, in Africa, infact on earth. we are all humans living during the same time period/era, we have no choice but to work together.
I love you all whether you love me back or not I love you. God has sent you all to serve a purpose no matter how big or small so I am grateful that you are here.

I have also come to accept the fact that Tribalism, Holier than thou, pride and arrogance, stewpidity etc all existed long before I was born and will continue to exist long after I am gone. So I have stopped listening to the news and I have stopped complaining.
I have come to accept the fact that despite all my DNA evidence and knowledge of history and human migration
just as an example: Igbo’s as a collective will probably never accept to stop claiming that Ijaw, Ibibio, Efik, itshekiri, Kalabari, and everybody else that is not Yoruba and Hausa are Igbo. Even after showing them that the Igbo dna can be distinguished from the Ijaw/Edo dna they still refused to accept. And even showing them that most Igbo people have between 0.5% to 6% of something currently identified/classified as Congolese DNA some label it as (Southern East African dna, others label it as Angolan DNA) which Ijaw/Edo people do not have. Yet they refuse to Agree so there’s nothing I can do than to accept that’s their behavior/character/personality and live with it.

I do not agree that we are Igbo but regardless I will still love them. We can disagree but it doesn’t mean I must hate you.

Now I just want solutions, guys let’s come up with Solutions, state a problem you have noticed and a solution you think will solve it.

I have noticed Poverty = I think farming and cheap food, over supply of Food products will make prices cheap but more ideas are welcome and will be needed

Dirty Environment = advertisement urging people not to liter, provision of Waste bins on every street. Civilians, agbero, tax force, police etc should be allowed to capture people who litter. Fine for littering should be 20,000 Naira or 2 months in prison.

Extremely expensive land and property prices; why is land in Nigeria so expensive. Less than 10% of the population earns over 200,000 naira monthly so how can land be priced at over 1,000,000 naira for a tiny plot and in cities the price is over 10,000,000

I know for a fact the land and housing bubble in Nigeria will soon burst it is only a matter of time. Don’t buy over priced land and houses in Nigeria whether you have the money or not.
For this problem I would love people to come together and proffer solutions

For Cheap land/housing close to a developed city at most 1:30 minutes hour away from the city. That can be owned by interested parties, which everyone is committed to keeping clean, if possible have a central water system and small solar plant that can power the community independent of Nepa.
Occupants should be free to develop their own lots at their own pace.

Nigeria too dirty, too much trash on every road.
We can do it guys. Your ideas are needed, welcome and Appreciated.

I did this, I am from Rivers State I didn’t see any DNA match who is Igbo.

I matched a lot of Deltans, Bayelsans, Rivers, Some carribean people etc.
But 0 everybody else.
Admittedly I saw 1 Fulani and a few Yorubas but that’s through marriage of my 4th great grand mothers sister on my mothers side that sister had a child who probably married a fulani or Hausa or someone who would later give his or her children Arabic names but in my results I am 0% Yoruba 0% Hausa 0% fulani 0% Igbo

99.7% Ijaw
0.3% unassigned

So igbo people, Rivers state is not Igbo. Thank you.

Regions: Delta, Edo, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa

Hello Nairalanders, I’m sure you are familiar with the topic you’ve heard it over and over again for more than 15 years now, it’s been everywhere on radio, Facebook, X, YouTube and especially here on nairaland.

When a Nigerian asks “I have xyz millions of naira and I need advice on a country to migrate to for study, work or just relocation”.
The replies you see under the post or the voices you hear will say “WHY NOT USE THAT MONEY AND START BUSINESS IN NIGERIA”

So the question today is: To those of you who instead of traveling abroad started a business in the last 15 years (since 2010 or even earlier) how is the business going, give us your testimonies, challenges and your experience in general doing business in Nigeria. Do you regret it? Will you advice your child to do business or japa if your child asked for your advice haven done business in Nigeria yourself rather than japa.

Let’s have it.

Is this wildfire man-made or natural disaster?
Natural, when the bush is dry during their fall or other dry season and lightning ⚡️ it can begin a wild fire that’s why they used to spend millions in clearing their bushes and forests but because of “Wild life and habitat conservation” some states refused to clear theirs to also save money.
They also refused to take water from dam and rivers to fill up their water reservoirs and fire hydrants because they were “conserving a species of fish within that water body to increase the population of the fish and those fish aren’t even consumed by humans” and so when the fire started this time they didn’t have enough water to stop it. Or contain it to its barest minimum.

FamilyRe: Your Family Used To Be Rich Now They’re Poor How? by DuBLINGreenb(op): 4:58pm On Jan 13, 2025
Cutezt:
Story of my life.

Was only born when the riches were slowly vanishing.

Granddad was the comptroller of customs in the late 1960s, my parents were living the life, flying planes like going to the market, The former Plateau state governor, Jang was even his right-hand man, tho his junior, but womanizing became his downfall.

In his various trips and transfers, he met new women everywhere, and as a man with bar, e no hard am lay these women. My grandma was the only wife as of then, before you know what happened, he impregnated another woman from my state who was in the customs service too, then he brought her home and married her, making 2 wives. Grandma was still fine with it, but the man went out and impregnated a Yoruba woman who was an air hostess in Lagos. The woman was troublesome and was a jazz woman, so he did not marry her or bring her home, he got another accommodation for her and started a business for her. You'd think he would stop here, but nahh, he got the Yoruba woman pregnant 4 more times, making 5 kids from her, then he impregnated another young woman from my place again, did not bring her home, but had 3 children with her too.

Everything was still fine, he had money to settle all the bills, one day, he was promoted, his colleague was jealous and poisoned his drink, that's how the man died o. the colleague did not last long and confessed on his death bed too.

The good thing was that my grad ma already had 6 kids for him before he started all his womanizing, to date, there are still kids he has outside that we do not know of, we recently learned of one in Abeokuta, man was grown with his youngest daughter over 19 years old.
During that time, my grandma was wise enough to set up herself and build 4 houses and a hotel, this was what sustained her after his death, cos his money soon vanished after everyone took their share, it was messy, and he did not leave any will.

In a bid to harmonize the house, my grandma brought all the wives into the family house, the second wife warned her against it but she refused. The Yoruba woman's children soon grew and became a terror to the house, stealing, and fighting always in the house. I remembered how the second son broke the windshield of my grandma's car on multiple occasions once there was a problem in the house. He pulled down the railings of our staircase and so many other terrible things. By then, all my grandma's male kids had left the house to other parts of the country to hustle, the only one at home who dealt with them later got ill and died sometime around 2006, the other male child is a reverend father, e no like trouble, my dad had since left the house too. las las sha, the money vanished, and everybody faced their hustle.
The whole thing made my grandma always sing it into my ears to never marry 2. grin grin

Till date, the family name still rings a bell in the state and everyone who knew my parents, uncles, and aunties back then always spoke about how they used to ball, they were the trending kids in the state, and the proof was that they too had kids outside that nobody knew, even them sef no know, at least 4 grown up people showed up claiming to be grandchildren of the family. The funny thing is that they all looked like the parents they claimed as theirs, and my uncles never denied having an affair with their mothers but refused to accept the child as the family's.

PS, we are still very much in touch with many wealthy people in the state including the King, and even Jang himself, but since my grandma died, the contact reduced drastically.
You guys should do all these 23&me, my ancestry and other dna tests so you can all know yourselves. Some will make false claims and some legitimate ones will not even make claims because they don’t know. So the best thing is to do these at home DNA tests it’s around $70 - $180 per kit.

Thanks for your detailed story, these are part of the reasons I made this topic. The story is intriguing and it is real life people will not believe are happening because it sounds like super story or Fuji house of commotion but it is real and all those fictional movies and tv dramas are inspired by real life. Thanks once again for sharing.

CrimeWhat Medication's Are Popular In Your Hood And Why. by DuBLINGreenb(op): 10:50pm On Jan 12, 2025
Are pharmaceutical drugs popular in your area or state? I was talking with a friend , and we were wondering why we as Nigerians have easy access to medications but we do not over Medicate, you dont here people dy!ng of overdose the way Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and many westerners do.

And yet before you can get these medications in this abroad you need doctor’s prescription, you need I.D and more there are a lot of red tapes and regulations yet they have way more Addicts and way more over dose cases than we do

The girl I was talking with told me if people want to get something no matter what they’ll get it. And she said a friend gets stuff from her mom’s prescription (I’m just trying to be vague not reveal too much details) but after she said this I realized oh yeah you can also get fake doctors note or prescription, you can steal other peoples medication, you can ask them for it, you can br!be doctor for it or for a prescription that’s when I realized true there are ways of getting it but still my question remains.

We don’t have all these laws and these things aren’t a problem
They who have all these safety measures and laws still suffer from these things.

Is it culture? Is it too much problems we have? It is lack of money to afford those bad things ? What’s your take on

Or is it happening and we just don’t hear of it abeg let me know.
