Governor Adeleke Plans Health Insurance Enrollment for Pensioners, Orders FastTracking of Pension Payment

OSOGBO- 30/06/2023 -Osunstate.gov.ng:

The government of Osun State is working on a plan to enroll contributory pensioners in the state health insurance scheme even as the Governor has issued a directive for the immediate payment of pension entitlement as planned in the template released earlier this year.

The Governor dropped the hints while receiving leaders of thought who paid him a sallah homage , noting that he has received many representations from the pensioners, restating his determination to address their issues in line with his campaign promises.

The Governor noted that the template released earlier this year on clearing of outstanding salaries and pensions is still in force and he subsequently directed the Head of Service to fast track the implementation by ensuring the payment of the pension arrears in line with the approved template.

"The template was created with an eye on gradual clearing of the salary and pension debts. This was in recognition of the financial status of the state which is well documented and known to the public. Our administration focuses on meeting the various needs of the state within a tight financial situation.

"Our administration is however prioritizing workers' welfare which covers in and out of service workers. I restate our commitment to the welfare of our senior citizens, the pensioners. The phased payments is a standby directive and I assured our pensioners that they are not and cannot be forgotten.", the Governor assured.

Dropping another hint of a pro-pensioners plans, Governor Adeleke said his administration is almost finalizing a plan to enroll the pensioners under the state health insurance scheme to address their health needs.

"Our administration is working hard on health insurance enrollment for the pensioners. Our senior citizens needs constant health attention. We think the best approach is to enrol them as that will ease the burden of treatment during their retirement.

"We are working on the details. Once it is finalized, we will release it for immediate implementation", Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying.

Politics / EASTER: I’ll Implement Cash Backing Of Promotions Done By Ex-governor Oyetola – by DukeOfOsun(m): 11:45am On Apr 09, 2023
The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has felicitated with Christians on the celebration of Easter, charging them to use the occasion to reflect on the very essence of the divine sacrifice by Jesus Christ.

Tech Community hails Adeleke over Tech Sector Funding

There have been series of encomiums directed at Governor Ademola Adeleke and his administration for setting the pace in tech innovation and entrepreneurship funding in the country following the recent announcement by his government setting up a dedicated help desk for osun tech innovators/entrepreneurs in a bid to ease the process of accessing funding from the $618m AFDB Tech fund.

The Governor through a statement from his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has earlier directed the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to set up a help desk to assist all technology and creative sector entrepreneurs in Osun state to apply and access the fund.

Politics / A Critique Of Hon. Femi Popoola's Performance And Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola's Selfi by DukeOfOsun(m): 3:08pm On Mar 14, 2023
A Concerned Citizen from Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government writes;

The Importance of Lawmakers' Responsibilities: A Critique of Hon. Femi Popoola's Performance and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola's Selfish Politics

Lawmakers are elected officials who are responsible for representing the interests of their constituents in government. They are expected to propose, sponsor, and support legislation that will benefit their communities and the state at large. Unfortunately, not all lawmakers live up to these responsibilities. One such lawmaker is Hon. Femi Popoola, the deputy speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, who has failed to sponsor any reasonable bill in the house that could benefit his constituency and the state at large in his two terms as the Honourable representing Boluwaduro/Boripe State Constituency.

As an elected representative, Hon. Femi Popoola has a responsibility to serve his constituents and work towards the development of the state. However, his lack of initiative and inability to sponsor any significant bill in the house is disappointing and disheartening. It is even more concerning that he has been in office for two terms and has nothing tangible to show for it.

It is quite disheartening that Hon. Femi Popoola has not sponsored any reasonable bill that would impact positively his constituency and the state. As a representative of the people, it is his duty to identify the needs of his people and sponsor bills that would address these needs. His failure to do this indicates that he has not been proactive in his duties and has not been responsive to the yearnings of his constituents.

However, what is more concerning is the remark made by the former governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, in support of Hon. Femi Popoola's re-election bid. According to him, he is supporting Hon. Femi Popoola because he wants Iragbiji to take over after him, and not because of his performance or competence as a lawmaker. This statement shows that Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has prioritized his personal interests over the interest of the people he was elected to serve.

It is unacceptable for a leader to support a bad representative just because of personal interests. The election is meant to elect competent leaders who would represent the people and work for their welfare. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola's reason for supporting Hon. Femi Popoola is not only selfish but also an insult to the people of the Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency.

The people of the Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency should stand against bad leadership and show their disappointment by voting out Hon. Femi Popoola of the APC and vote for Yomi Aina of the PDP. It is high time the people took their destiny into their hands and voted for a leader who has their interests at heart. Governor Adeleke is determined to give the people of Osun dividends of democracy, and the people of Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency deserve to benefit from this.

In conclusion, lawmakers have a crucial role to play in promoting good governance and providing effective representation for their constituents. Hon. Femi Popoola has failed in this regard, and the people of Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency deserve better. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola's remark about re-electing a bad representative due to his personal interest is unacceptable, and the people should vote for competent leaders who have their interests at heart.

The people of Osun State deserve competent and effective representation, and it is the responsibility of the lawmakers to provide it. The selfish interest of some lawmakers should not be allowed to frustrate the good governance that the people are already benefiting from the PDP-led administration under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Osun PDP Cries for Help, Says Our Members are Under Siege

●PDP Victims Targeted for Arrests by APC Merchants of Violence
●Top Leaders Hunted for Arrest
●Loses 10 members since January
●Seek Redeployment of Police Commisssioner

Osun state Chapter of the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over ongoing Gestapo- like arrest of its top leaders, calling the development " a tgreat to democracy"

Addressing a press conference with a statement tagged "Osun Is Under Siege", the State Caretaker Chairman of the party, Dr Adekunle Akindele said "we woke up to what appeared like rumours that Osun state would be invaded by armed men, both from the Nigerian police and notorious APC thugs imported from Lagos to be disguised as police operatives to cause mayhem and unrest in Osun State.

"To the dismay of our party, these armed men were feried into the state and were received at the private home of the national secretary of the All Progressive Congress, who from good authority, handed the armed men handouts of leaders and members of the PDP to be arrested and detained for no just cause.

"We call you to raise alarm on an ongoing unjust, unfair, draconian and dictatorial raid and arrest of PDP leaders across Osun state.

"As I am addressing you today, PDP leaders are being hunted and arrested in Gestapo style. Across Osun state , houses of our leaders are being surrounded and raised even without search warrant. Where our leaders are not at home, their families are arrested and their cars taken away on various false pretext.

"An undemocratic statewide operation is ongoing designed to pick and lock up prominent PDP leaders ahead of next state election. Our surprise is that such mass raid is being conducted against a ruling political party in clear violation of fundamental human rights of those affected

"We want to note particularly that instead of arresting APC members who are attacking PDP members on daily basis, the said statewide is targeting the victims instead of the culprits. PDP members are the victims of APC violence. Now PDP members are the ones being arrested.

"Five of our members were killed at Ilesa shortly after the visit of the state Governor. At Ila Orangun , four members of PDP were killed by rampaging APC thugs. At Irewole , four of our members were gunned do2n by an APC squad. Across the state, APC militants have been harassing and maiming PDP members.

"Unfortunately, the Police Commissioner has not being professional in the discharge of his duties. All petitions from PDP on violent attacks on our members are not attended to. We have come to the conclusion that the the state election Commissioner is biased and partisan.

"We call for his redeployment with immediate effect.

"It is thus sad that instead of attending to the petitions of the victims, the ongoing operation is targetting the victims, the PDP
All these are ploys to disrupt the peace of Osun State ahead of the rescheduled house of assembly election slated for next Saturday.

"A situation where Apc chieftains became mouthpiece of the Nigerian police, analysing who and who to arrest and for crimes that best suit their whims, reinforces our fears that security institutions have been compromised in the state.

"Our great party uses this opportunity to call on president Mohammadu Buhari as father and chief security officer of the nation to beam his searchlight on the nefarious plans of the Apc to disrupt the peace of the state using the police ahead of the coming election. Unjust arrest or detaining leaders of our party in the impossible giuse of plotting against the people of the state will surely bear unpalable consequences.

"Election should not be war for those who are in good stead in deeds and acceptability to the people, who are constitutionally empowered to choose their representatives at all levels of government. Again, no democracy will thrive under a forced or fraudulent process, which was the bane of the immediate past administration in the state.

"The IGP should rather conduct proper investigation of APC political warmongers, whose only route to self survival is violence and bloodshed. It is no-brainer that all recent cases of political attacks in parts of the state were masterminded by Apc desperados, who are battling hard to escape punishment for their past sins of mismanaging the state.

"Both the election and substantive commissioners of police in Osun State are also called upon to be professional in their conducts and resist all entreaties to intimidate the people of the state as doing so will be akin to stamping on the tail of a 'gentle cobra'.

"Let us make it clear that Osun people cannot be intimidated. Those nursing perilous thought of causing mayhem to inflict psychological trauma on the people should persih the thought or live to nurse their defeat because Osun cannot be cowed.

"While we await the drama of the security operatives disguised as special forces, we enjoing the good people of Osun State to remain calm, go about their lawful businesses but should be vigilant and resolute on their resolve to detach themselves from harrowing experiences of the past.

"If they could not defeat the state since july 16 2022 governorship election till they were overwhemed in the last National Assembly election, they certainly will be defeated again, more devastatingly", the party Chairman vowed.

Governor Ademola Adeleke: 100 Days of Impressive Progress in Osun State

By James O. Bamgbose

In the first 100 days of his administration, Governor Ademola Adeleke made remarkable strides in transforming Osun State. His vision for the state is evident in the numerous projects he has undertaken, which are aimed at improving the standard of living and economic growth of the state.

The following are some of the ongoing and completed projects that have been initiated by the Adeleke-led administration.

*Infrastructure Development*

One of Governor Adeleke's major achievements in the first 100 days of his administration is the construction of 20km road across Osun State. This project will open up rural areas and facilitate the movement of people and goods within the state. The construction of the road will also attract investors to the state, leading to economic growth and development.

The Governor has also taken steps to address the issue of broken bridges, which poses a significant danger to the people of the state. The construction of the broken bridge at Bókùsọ́rọ̀/Adẹ́kẹ́ in Iwo will help to prevent loss of life due to erosion. In addition, the resumption of the construction of the Osogbo/Ikirun Kwara boundary road abandoned by the past administration is also a commendable achievement of Governor Ademola Adeleke. These projects will improve the transportation network in the state and facilitate economic growth and development.

Another major infrastructure project of Governor Adeleke is the provision of portable boreholes in each of the 332 wards in Osun State. The provision of portable boreholes is crucial to the development of rural communities and will go a long way in addressing the problem of water scarcity in these areas. This project will help to improve the health and well-being of the people of Osun State and is a major step towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Additionally, the Governor has provided rural electrification projects across the state, which will help to ensure that communities without electricity can have access to light. The provision of transformers and other electrical materials will help to improve the standard of living of the people and promote economic development in these communities.

*Healthcare intervention*

Governor Adeleke's administration has also made significant strides in healthcare development in Osun State. The Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach program has provided free surgeries to 18,000 beneficiaries across the state. The outreach program saw 2000 persons in each of the 9 Federal Constituencies in Osun State, making a total of 18,000 beneficiaries who received free surgeries. This program is a testament to the Governor's commitment to improving the healthcare sector in the state.

The enrollment of 3332 Osun indigenes on the Osun Health Insurance Scheme is a laudable initiative that will ensure that the vulnerable have access to adequate healthcare. The initiative will also help to reduce the burden of healthcare costs on the people.

*Community Development*

Governor Adeleke has also prioritized community development in Osun State. He has demonstrated his commitment to grassroots development by presenting N518m to 40 communities in Osun state for infrastructural developments. This will help to address the issue of underdevelopment in some communities, which has been a major challenge in the state. This initiative will empower communities to undertake projects that will improve their standard of living and foster economic development.

*Technology Development*

Governor Adeleke has launched the Osun Tech Revolution through the New Tech Innovation Policy, ICT Policy, Domestication of Nigeria's Startup Act, and Osun Google Mapping Project. This initiative will help to promote the use of technology in the state and create opportunities for young people to develop their skills.

Osun State will be the first state in Nigeria to domesticate the Nigeria Startup Act among the 36 States across the country, a major achievement that will help to promote entrepreneurship in the state and create jobs for the teeming youth population.

In conclusion, Governor Ademola Adeleke's first 100 days in office have been characterized by remarkable achievements that are indicative of his commitment to transforming Osun State. The projects undertaken by the Governor will help to boost the development of the state in all areas, including health, education, transportation, and technology. Naira Redesign: Governor Adeleke Meets CBN Officials, Calls for Sanctions against Banks Hoarding New Naira Notes

● We Thank Governor Adeleke for Maintaining Peace-CBN

● We Have Issued Queries to some Banks - CBN

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned against hoarding of new naira notes by commercial banks, calling on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sanction financial institutions involved in such anti-people activities.

Addressing CBN officials in his office, Governor Adeleke decried the increasing shortage of the new notes, explaining that he has been deploying state network to douse tension and ensure safety of banks and the CBN state office.

According to the Governor, his intervention in the last few weeks had ensured that Osun state is saved from increasing conflict across some South Western states, expressing unhappiness at the current hardship the people are experiencing.

"The situation is getting out of hand. The CBN must act fast. Any bank hoarding the new notes must be sanctioned. We should not treat such banks with kid gloves.”

"My people are patient but we should not take their patience for granted. That is why I called for this meeting. Why is the new notes not available? Is the supply small or inadequate? ", the Governor querried.

He expressed the readiness of his government to partner with the CBN for the currency swap, informing the CBN team that the state is sacrificing a lot to maintain peace and calm frayed nerves.

"The new notes are not available. Even as a State Governor, I don't have the new notes. You can see how hard it is for our people to access the new currency if their Governor is not getting them. We should not overstretch the cooperation we are enjoying from the citizenry. We are expected as elected and appointed leaders to respond to the needs and aspirations of our people ", Governor Adeleke admonished.

Responding, the CBN state director, Oluyemi Adeyemi in response commended the state Governor for his proactive steps that has saved the state from naira related riots.

"We must thank Mr Governor for reaching out to the people, for diffusing tension, for keeping the state peaceful. We aware of the day Mr Governor stopped some angry youth from demonstrating and from attacking the CBN office.”

"On our part, we are working hard to make the new notes available. Let me say that the CBN has issued queries to some banks. I assure Nigerians that we are working hard to make the new notes available" , the CBN official stated.

The meeting set up a monitoring mechanism between the state government and the CBN to ensure allocated new notes get to the populace.

Politics / Jubilation Across Osun State As Adeleke's Government Begins Payment Of Salary Ar by DukeOfOsun(m): 3:49pm On Feb 15, 2023
JUBILATION ACROSS OSUN STATE AS ADELEKE'S GOVERNMENT BEGINS PAYMENT OF SALARY ARREARS

At some minutes past noon today 15th of February, 2023, there was sudden eruption of celebration across the various government agencies and parastatals in Osun State, reminiscent of the biblical deliverance of the people of Israelites from the hand of King Pharaoh. One begins to wonder what could bring this sudden expression of joy amidst the current National mood occasioned by the duo of Naira and Fuel scarcity.

Alas, true to his words and in fulfillment of the earlier approval given by the state Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke via the office of the Head of Service for the commencement of payment of salary arrears to the state civil servants, the payment commenced today as credit alert started rolling in to the various civil servants who have been owed 30 months Salary arrears by the previous administration.

Our correspondent who went round the state secretariat and some agencies as at the time of filling this report observed that the workers are visibly happy and expressed their profound gratitude that despite numerous promise from the past administration which went unfulfilled, Governor Adeleke in under 3 months in office despite the humongous debt inherited and the state of the economy has fulfilled his electoral promise of offsetting the salary arrears of the past administrations.

Expressing gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke on behalf of the state workforce, the chaorman of the ttade union Congress in Osun State, Comrade Adekola Adebowale described Governor Adeleke as a mam of his words whose commitment to workers welfare is no more in doubt.

Comrade Adebowale Osun State workers will never fotget the good gesture of the state governor as according to him, many of their members have gone under wilth many others incapacitated due to lack of adequate welfare on the part of past administration, especially on the modulated salary arrears.

Also speaking to our correspondent, a civil servant from the Ministry of Commerce, Corporative and Empowerment expressed Joy as she declared that the civil servants couldn’t believe that this payment could ever materialize again in their lifetime,

“When the Governor announced the plan to pay the salary arrears, we didn’t believe it, we even thought where is he going to get the money, I was pleasantly surprised to receive the alert this afternoon and that’s exactly why everyone is jumping in excitement” she commented.

Another civil servant from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs declared that most of the civil servants had already forgone the payment and today’s payment indeed came at a great surprise to everyone, “We already thought the money has gone. Even when Governor Adeleke made the promise during the campaign, we didn’t believe him”. He added.

In all, it was jubilation galore for workers in the state civil service, which expectedly will boost the PAYE driven economy of the state.

Politics / Senate Spokesperson SRJ Orders Police To Shoot Citizen In Osun State by DukeOfOsun(m): 10:05am On Feb 10, 2023
On the order of SRJ (senate spokesperson from osun central senatorial district); Osun State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Femi Popoola and APC House of Reps candidate for Ila federal constituency, Hon. Adebisi Obawale, a police man shot a member of PDP in Boluwaduro local government.

The victim was seen ferried away, on their way going, the officers who were in the car with the victim were accusing him of destroying SRJ billboard which is far from the truth. Though, the officer who released the fire claimed that it was an accidental discharge.

The victim was dropped at hospital without making any payment. As we speak, the victim is in critical condition in the hospital

We therefore call on Osun police commissioner to warn his men not to be tools in the hands of APC, because we cannot continue to fold our arms and watch our members being killed because of political desperation of SRJ. Osun State police command may soon have more issues to deal with should those behind this mindless shooting not brought to book immediately.

PDP is a peace loving party, hence we call on police boss to as a matter of duty fish out the officer who shot our member.
