Lilliesbud12. .... Thanking God for His mercies upon your life.....None of us will end with this year. Amen

Eeeeeeerm,,,, shebi it's foodie Saturday......let me share some fantabulous meals to add to our weekend relaxation...you know it's the same thing we all are eating....just creativity makes us wanna eat them and lick plate smiley grin

Breakfast, lunch and dinner respectively.

On another note: been thinking in the line of foodie Saturday, some mama's from other tribes can teach us how to make some of their sumptuous delicacies/treats ( e.g ofe nsala, ofe owerri, oha soup etc).

Let's say one mama( probably by indicating intention to teach during the week already) per Saturday , so there's something to look forward to all Saturday.

Oya, when you wake.....get to za kitchen............

stephmiracle : this question ehn....my son sucked for 1 year 9 months ( I tried all sorts except this aloe vera ) , when I couldn't take it anymore, I left home for the weekend so he and his dad can have 'boys time' alone and we met ourselves in church on Sunday.

Lemme try this aloe-vera ( to think we have in surplus at my parents' , I only drink and use for my face)cos I need him to stop sucking his thumb.....

Thanks to the mamas' that suggested this.

Keep giving her fluids ..just try even if it's some spoon she can take( not glucose, not lucozade or supposedly energy giving drinks)....were you given zinc tablets/antibiotics too alongside?

Amongst all, keep praying for her quick recovery...

Well done

FloraEC : yes oooo, let her shine

Akorkor : Happy happy birthday to your best friend...Many more yummylicious birthdays together.

Thanks a lot.

She claims life in PH is more expensive than LAG..... even if it is, some families do well with quarter of that upkeep money monthly and they reside in PH

I think one of the mistake I made was to reveal how much I earn just after I got this job.
There is absolutely nothing bad in revealing to her, she only should have used her feminine strength to help build a savings culture and if I may say cover your weakness.

You a right on your assertion on the many people calling me for financial help. My mother and my mother-in-law has said the same thing. They got know I don't turn down cry for financial help from my wife.
Hmmmm, does she discuss everything with 3rd parties?

There are no two ways I must take a stand and make adjustments before its too late. Yes, you have too except from the 250k she is doing a business or probably an investment or building your family a house
Just take the advise that you have got here to work and be FIRM about them.

I don't even bother to arrange it again, I just tell her whenever she's tired she should tell me. I can't die before my time.

Thanks a lot.

I am taking notes of your suggestions too.

Mrs would only buy rice in bag which lasts up to 3 months.

Every other food item is bought from retail markets on weekly basis.

I have suggested some tips like buying from Weekly markets like ELEME Market but she claims its not convenient for her. Ask her how she would need your help based on conveniency, so you can work with her schedule.

I tried buying myself but these PH women have a way of cheating men. Don't buy yourself, you might not have strong bargaining power moreso, not to create a notion of un-appreciation to Mrs

Bulk purchase (particularly for perishables will be difficult because of unreliable power supply in my neighborhood.
OK ....... You can still do weekly since you run generator and can power your freezer concurrently.

On a saner note.....you can equally freeze some water in ice block nylon( 3/4) so when your gen is switched off, the ice still keeps working, PHCN can be unreliable sometimes.
This change is a process and you will see results with focus.

Thanks.

I don't have have all the details but I know the basic things:

Raw food items (Plantain,Yam,Potatoes,Garri,Beans) =18,000

How about you do your food purchase in bulk? I am sure Rice is included and purchased as a bag...same as Vegetable oil/Palmoil in say 10litres. A bag can cover you for 3 months @most depending on how much of rice you eat

Soup/Stew Preparation (3,000 per week) = 12,000

There are meat sharing companies now and you can buy in portions ...all you have to do is freeze and if for variety purposes buy a small portion of meat, half carton of turkey/chicken and half carton of your preferred fish, buy pepper in lots ( also maximise the times when pepper is in surplus) boil and freeze......onions can also be purchased in lots...all Mrs has to do is air occasionally even if its when she has time.

Indomie noddles (2 cartoons per month) =5,400

Beverages and other groceries =10,000

This also is monthly I presume and can be bought from stores that sell in dozens or cartons as the case may be, also for snacks to school for the children ( can be purchased in cartons if you don't do that already e.g fan-yo drink, maltina sip-it etc.... You just span it out for the month and it's your choice if you want them to take to school everyday/some days in the week).

You are mobile, so you can shop with ease and take Mrs off the stress of transportation if she doesn't drive

Cooking Gas (12.5kg) =4,000

Baby Needs (NAN,Nutriend,Cerelac,Pampers and others =50,000

You might not be able to buy baby food in bulk as baby might change preference in food... Diaper can be bought from distributors and since it has sizing...you can buy the one with about 80 or more per pack( a pack and half should do for a month (though this is dependent on how much diaper baby uses per day)and I guess price is about 5-6k depending on the quality)

Fuel for Gen Set (4,500 per week) =18,000

Now this is a lot......is power supply erratic? Are you always home , hence gen runs continuously... why don't you get a small inverter/ laptop power bank( I sell ooo) as the case may be to meet deadlines and all

Fuel for Car (4,000 per week) = 16,000

"Treated" Sachet Water =3,000

[b]Total -------------------------------------------------------= 136,400

The above expenses are things I am aware of.

I am see unaccounted for.
Me thinks from your take home each month, first things first, remove 140k and keep.

Work with the remaining as much as you can.....nothing would happen to you....your savings would just be fatter and you can keep up with some termly expenses when the need arises e.g school fees, house rent.

When you do bulk purchases, you tend to save more.

Note: this are personal things I have done that has worked for me....... Expect more responses that would help from people.

All the best in your savings,

Anugod.......thank God for your life and baby's .....He disappointed the devices of the crafty....

casler....congratulation to you and your family ma'am.

beautifulrosa....Lady Sept pads are good. For PEP clothes, just go round the store and choose cotton clothing ( are you buying specifically newborn sizes?, baby would out grow them quickly oooo....you can do some 3- 6 months instead).

About the quality....it depends on the brand you see in the store...cuddlesome( that was the major brand I bought even with cardigans which my son wears now and I shopped 2 years ago) is good like goodfortun said ...

For durability.... I think it all boils down to kind of soap used for laundry

I hope my question won't be swept under the carpet based on this ongoing drama that refuse to end..

I remember when i just joined the thread, one mama gave me do's and don'ts of pregnancy.. including not wearing heels..since then ive avoided heels like a plague..

Please, what is the implication if you wear heels for a long period. Cos recently i tried testing on heels for few minutes in the room and nothing happened.

@zaynie...yeah,I deciphered that from your question

Read black soot is back in PH....mama's there is it true?

Now you have to do general cleaning, close windows, wash hands more often, possibly wear nose mask and cover up.

May whatever is causing this be eradicated soonest.

Me thinks this comment about benignasweety is just to divert attention based on the episode since 2 days now and who knows the deactivated moniker might have joined in replying on this same momma Zion's issue...

The idea is not to mistakenly use her recently created moniker to comment hence the deactivation.

@Keeki you mean 2k onions can last a very long time as in for a month?

Please can you help confirm how much is delivery to ekpoma? Thanks ma
Based on personal purchase, it can over a month sef ( I use lots of onions)...

I usually get my onions from mile 12 and they are mixed ( medium and big) based on preference and usually have up to 120 pieces...so if it's coming from where it is cheaper, it would be more.

Eeermm, prepare to air them oooo
