They claimed the documents are still in the hands of cars45 and the car has custom papers and documents will come out after payment has been made... they are now asking me extra 60k for the custom papers claiming they were not aware the custom papers aren't available

The dealers were dishonest.
Cars45 will usually inform you in your enquiries if a vehicle doesn't have complete papers.

The dealers were only trying to complete a deal and so they must have told you stories.

Calculation of wear and tear time for certain parts.

E.g

Oem sway bar links, 30k, life span (lagos roads) lifespan 3-5years. 70,000km

Good After market 7k, life span 1-2years. 30,000km

From this little assessment, you can easily deduce that the aftermarket is a cheaper buy (not factoring multiple labour payments)

Another example.

Oem Timing belt 25k 100,000miles

After market 5k 10,000miles max.

Not a good buy getting the aftermarket.

So it really depends on the part, the clients ability to spend on his vehicle, the risk involved in using after market parts, and the benefits.

When you look at vehicles that were manufactured in early 2000s or late 90s which probably do not have OEM parts in abundance any more , what would be your advice to a client in cases of replacement of faulty parts due to wear and tear?

Do you have a standard you use in deciding when to use Genuine, OEM, Aftermarket or used parts?

By Genuine, I mean the parts produced by OEMs but with the logo of the car brand on them.

Hi boss.

Thought i should call but i felt that your opinion may also come handy for others.

Due to the annoying roads in the location where I live, I'm thinking of getting an SUV to take off much load from my car.

My thoughts are going towards the Ford Edge 2007-2009, Toyota Prado 2005-2008 or the Lexus RX330 2004-2007.

I'd like your opinion on these vehicles as they all have their pros and cons in my head and I've been having difficulties reaching a final decision.

* ABS module was never at fault.

* ABS module detected wrong speed values from rear abs wheel speed sensors attached to the rear of vehicle.

* Wrong parts were previously installed on vehicle.

* all rear suspension parts have been replaced (apart from rear struts)

* ABS system reset and all codes cleared

* Vehicle has been taken for a test drive and No errors detected

Currently sourcing for the entire backing plate and brake lining for the rear, i never envisaged it would be this deep, but we learn everyday.

Faults, ABS warning Light illuminated, anti-skid illuminated, brake warning lamp illuminated.

Vehicle history: recently purchased Toks vehicle, Rear Right impact, rear right wheel speed sensor/bearing replaced.
Diagnosis/Scan procedures.

Vehicle Scan: C1415 (Rear speed sensor RH circuit output)
C1416 (Rear speed sensor LH circuit output)

Live scan rotating rear wheels, no information on rear wheel speed on diagnostic machine.

Live scan rotating known functional rear wheel bearing by hand, wheel speed detected on rear wheels on diagnostic equipment.

Repair procedure: Old Rear wheel bearings/ABS sensors removed from vehicle.

part number checked online, Old abs sensors 89544-32040 (Fits Corrola 2001- 2005 scion TC, celica, matrix 2003-2006)

Part number results conflicts with vehicle part was removed from.

Hi GAZZUZZ

The ABS sign has been lit up on my dashboard since I bought my Toyota Corolla S 2010.

I took it to one kazeem who actually changed the sensor on the left rear wheel. However, the sign never left.

I tried another workshop but this time i was informed that the ABS module was faulty and needed to be changed. I was told that to get and fix a new one, it would cost me 350k while a fairly used one would cost 170k. Those figures are scary.

Is there a way around this or are these figures inflated?

So far, I haven't experienced any anomaly with my car though.

Please advise.
