So like when will i be interviewed and be given a visa ?
I’m curious because I’m still in year 1, just trying to know if I’ll finish school here in Nigeria

Hello primuss, yes you’ve to scan everything, the certificate, the Fingerprint application. Both back and front. Then merge them to one PDF

Hello Desmond28, congratulations on your new born baby, that said, if your case is still in nvc stage please contact them with your new born baby birth certificate. And if your case is in embassy already, you’ll need to contact them with the birth certificate.

Well, it’s advisable to upload what they checklisted as listowell said, but a lot of people have been going extra miles to avoid any form of denial. What they do is, they uploaded only the checklist after they got DQ, they later upload other additional proof you mentioned.


NB: this tips is common with K1 applicants.

Yes, I did but their response is what I do not understand. I had to write back on the public inqury and also inform my petitioner to call them as early as possible for more clarification if my case is specific or it is a new development from NVC because i read here on the platform where applicant from do electronic uploading of civil document . See below the response from NVC

Wasn’t that the same automated answer they gave you earlier? You’ll need to call them 12pm Nigeria time, that will be 7am their time. It will be resolved as soon as you speak to them.

Then it will be as a result of their server, Contact them by email or call them as early as 7am their time. They will rectify it for you.

I don’t think so, most people have not collected theirs since the pandemic including my friend.

It is odd that they are asking for further proof at the petition stage. It may be helpful to just send pics of both your dad and sister from a young age to adulthood and see where that goes. I mean are they going to accept DNA results from any random place?

Usually DNA evidence would come in at the interview stage where the embassy should give details on how to do it right?

Yes it’s odd and surprising as well but it is what it is, even if she presented those pictures do you think they will be satisfied with it? They might not but there’s no harm in trying, it will only cause delay. DNA is the best bet!

Good day house. I dunno if I’m in the right thread. My sis who’s a US citizen filed petition for my dad last year, around the later part of the year. She got a mail some days back that they need concrete evidence to show that my dad is really her father, they said the birth certificate she submitted from census( dunno if that’s correct) was obtained when she was 28years, so they want a more concrete proof that she’s his daughter. Please what do you suggest we do? My dad is here in Nigeria, though he has visited US before.

Hello Neeta02, I guess they found something inappropriate about the details your sister submitted years back, probably a background check was done and the following might have been the cause:

1. The names on the documents she submitted as her father name does not match with name she’s trying to petition.

2. The date of birth might be the Issue as well, probably she reduce her age in the course of traveling or the father date of birth does not match, hence, a significant or insignificant age gap.

The list can go on and on, the main point is, they found something inappropriate with the documents she submitted which make them doubts her.

And the only solution is to opt for a DNA test ( the concrete proof they need). I know it’s expensive and time consuming but this is what your sister need to convince them. It will shut them up once it’s done.

Then i also noticed the NPC birth certificate is larger than the A4 size of my printer/scanner, cutting a bit of my picture and stamp on the pics below the document.

Any risk uploading the birth certificate like that?

Please anyone with these experiences?

It’s a known error, a lot of folks have encounter it. The only solution is to wait a bit then try later or changed browser. It’s nothing to worry about.

About the birth certificate; just scan it with a phone scanner else you’ll have to get someone to set the scanner for you. I scanned all my documents with a phone scanner.

My friend I need help. I have been waiting for criminal record certificate for staying in Norway. Due to this document, I have not submitted my civic document online. Should I submit others and leave that one?

You can upload others but nvc might ask for it and that will delay your DQ. So it’s better to have all the documents before you hit the submit button.
