auschris: Congratulations. When was your I-140 approved and when did NVC create your case? It was approved Jan 30th and I don’t know when it was created but I called nvc to get the invoice number and case number in March. However, nvc sent the official letter on 1st of April. |

listowell: Is police character certificate actually required at the point of D260 stage? Hello listowell, DS260 is just an online form, it purpose is to know more about the beneficiary. You’ll need the police certificate when you are about to submit your civil document. |

techsavy1: Does this new EO affect already approved petition by UCSIS awaiting NVC processing? please, what does DQ mean? Saw someone's message with it earlier. Yes! But your application will still be processed till interview stage. And DQ means Documentary Qualified; you get this after you must have submitted the needed AOS and civil document correctly at nvc stage. |

Vietnaminfo: This is my Aunty's Immigration Visa status with her family. What am I expected to tell her. Is there any hope for her and the family to be granted visa? I need a professional advice on what I should let her know. AP is been replaced with the term “refused” these days, it will later change to “issued” provided the interview she had went well. I’ve seen a lot of cases similar to your Aunty’s case. ofcourse there’s hope, there’s nothing to worry about here. |

YOMZE: Hi Duuzsz...You have been so helpful and detailed...Who are those required to fill the I-864 forms? Would the sponsor or petitioner still be required to fill the I-864 form when his/her income doesn’t meet the Household income requirements or just the joint sponsor is required to fill the form in that case. Hello Yomze, the sponsor is to fill the I-864 form but if the sponsor doesn’t meet the household income requirements, then you’ll need a joint sponsor or a co-sponsor to fill the form. That is, both the sponsor and the joint sponsor will need to fill the form I-864 But if you want to use a co-sponsor, then it has to be a household member, someone living in the same house with your sponsor. However, the sponsor will fill form I-864 while the co-sponsor will fill I-864A form. Please there’s a difference between those forms. Hope this is helpful? |

fendorf: he should get the passport renewed now because of uncertainty and long delays with passport renewal in Nigeria. I totally concur cause norm the passport takes 5days to process while express takes just 48hrs to be processed but due to covid19 I think it’s gonna take longer to process, so techsavy1 get a new passport ASAP |

It seems like i have to be present in Nigeria to get one and i do not plan on going back anytime soon Well, some country do insist on getting the home country police report, however, you can get someone to help you get it in Nigeria. |

techsavy1: Thank you for your response. The passport has not expired yet. It expires in November. Are you saying I just go ahead and get a new one now and have the one I submitted my documents with cancelled? What’s your pd and visa class? You know there’s already a backlog due to the covid19, so nobody is certain as to when you’ll get interviewed letter. So I will advice you get a new passport a month before the old one expires or you get a new one before your interview. They are not going to issue visa on an expired passport. |

dnapstar: I needed clarification on how this whole process work. I am completely new to it and have zero clue.
Early last month I go a call from my mum that my Green card has been approved, she filed for it years ago.
But currently I filling the DS 260 form.
Can you explain the process, so I can avoid unnecessary errors.
Secondly at what point would I need the police certificate?
Thirdly, I am currently single. But a lady who just got married last year is asking if she could accompany Me as my spouse. I want to know the possible implication of this and if it would have any negative effect on me in future.
Thanks in advance. Once you get your Welcome Letter from NVC, The first step is to pay required fees. (IV fee and Affidavit of Support fee). IV is $325 and AOS is $120 After you made the payment, it will take couple of days/weeks to process. (It took 2 days for me) Once the payment process, you can start to fill out online IV application which is DS-260. One important note about DS-260 is once you submit the application you cannot edit it. So please double check your application before you hit submit. Also you will need to print out the confirmation page for the interview stage. After the DS260 submission the civil documents tab will open up and you will need to upload scanned Passport Biographic page, marriage certificate, Police certificate (from beneficiary's home country), Birth certificate and Photograph.
Once you upload all required Civil documents you can click "Submit Documents". For the AOS, you will need to find which I-864 form you need and download it from USCIS official website and after filling it out you will need to upload it to the NVC system. Make sure you combine all pages as one file before uploading. If your sponsor doesn’t meet the Household income requirements, you will have an option to add joint sponsor/ household member once your payment did process. You follow same steps here as AOS. After forms submitted, AOS uploaded and Civil documents submitted in the system. You will need to wait NVC to review your case and send you "Documentary Qualified". Also known as C C ( case complete) Regarding your second question: I believe you’ve found the answer in between my post, you need to start uploading after filling the ds260 form. Regarding your third question: its not advisable, it’s fraud, the US government frown at this, and the implications is severe. It has a lot of negative effects! So don’t try it. |

techsavy1: My passport expires in November and I am yet to be scheduled for interview. I have submitted all documents to NVC, just waiting for interview. Is it advisable to get a new passport and update after I get interview date? Basically when is the best time to introduce a new passport? Hello techsavy1, I guess you submitted your expired passport since you’ve submitted all your documents to nvc already, however, you’ll need to get a new passport as fendorf advised. They will ask for your new passport during your interview but make sure you go along with the old passport you submitted. |

RAYSKIS: I think the B part of the visa bulletin is advisable to be following
F1 22APR15 22APR15 22APR15 08JAN00 08FEB12 F2A 01JUN20 01JUN20 01JUN20 01JUN20 01JUN20 F2B 01FEB16 01FEB16 01FEB16 15OCT99 01AUG11 F3 15APR09 15APR09 15APR09 15JUL00 22APR02 F4 15AUG07 15AUG07 22OCT05 08MAR99 08JAN02 No, the A part is advisable Rayskis. A is mainly for interview letter while the part B is when you should expect welcome letters. E.g if you’ve been approved and in nvc stage; part A is for you but if you’ve not been approved yet by uscis then part B table is what you should be looking at; it will give you idea when you’ll likely be approved. Hope this is helpful? |

delight71: Good day everyone, My petition was approved by USICS in February, and Notice of approved was sent to me. But since then I have not receive any update from NVC and no welcome letter was sent to me, checking their website I discovered they are still working with limited staff, so I make an enquiry about my Case last week and this is their response....my Case is current.
AskNVC to me Dear Sir/Madam: To continue processing your immigrant visa case, you will need to designate an agent. Please complete Form DS-261 (Online Choice of Address and Agent). We will send instructions for paying the immigrant visa application fee after processing your DS-261. We will send all future correspondence to the agent you selected. If the principal applicant is under the age of sixteen, the principal applicant's parent or guardian may sign the form. Please complete and submit Form DS-261 at https://ceac.state.gov.......
I was trying to complete the DS-261 form as requested but I didn't go through, maybe because I used my USICS Case number, but that's the only one I have, and that is what I use for the enquiry. Pls is there any one with such experience or who can be of help.. Thanks Hello delight, you will need to call them again, when they pick, tell them you need your case number and invoice number, tell them you didn’t receive it by mail. If they’ve have your file and have created it on their server, they will simply call it out for you, that’s how I got mine before I receive the official welcome letter. NB: To get through easily, make sure you call as early as 7am their time. |
