Thanks to Jerrymania, hiphop can only be hiphop and notin else! That stupid, wack Rugged man has only succeeded in makin a lot of Nigerians drift over to a wack niche he deliberately carved for himself,"Naija hiphop". That guy is real crap! The message in "Ruggedy Baba" is nonsense!Who made him a rap judge,to tell us the way we should rap!
@ Gbade X,I always feel ur contributions,u dey make sense!
I wont talk much on this, this thread is not for hiphop heads!!!!!!!!!!

@ Ruudie
Thanks for Disagreeing with Makin on Najee not being a jazz artiste!
@ Makin
I think you should listen to Najee's "Heart Like Mine".When you do,you wont tell me he ain't a jazz artiste.
And do we define music by what the artiste is known for or the musical piece itself? Some songs of Yanni's like "Adagio in C Minor"and "Tribute" can be called Classical, while his "Dance with A Stranger" is undoubtedly Jazz! Some of Billy Vaughn's songs are called Easy Listening e.g "Sail Along Silvry Moon",while a whole lot of his other songs are generally accepted as Jazz.Like Miller said,Jazz is so broad,so much so that you cant really claim to define it accurately, and it just has to be dynamic, like other genres;so I dont want to hear y'all claiming that real Jazz was done only by those aged old timers!Times must, and always do change!Jazz lovers love to hate Kenny G,but I cant deny loving him for his own unique flavor, his Soprano Sax sounds lioke it was constructed for him alone!
No one has mentioned Boney James?
Abeg I no wan vex,so I no wan make another person call Enya name for here, abeg OOOh!

@ Awoof;
You can always get old collections of Earl Klugh and especially Grover Washington Jnr,around.Just take a stroll to Alaba Market or any CD World outlet nationwide. As for the other ones, they are not really in demand so they may not have been pirated;but you can still get them,if you need an original copy(which will certainly cost you over 2k!) Those are available at Nu Metro Cinema, and I heard there's a jazz club somewhere in Lagos where you can get all those Archival Jazz Cds.I'll find out the exact location cos I dont reside in Lagos.Goodluck!!!

Appreciate your effort @ trying to broaden my idea of what jazz should be!Yeah Joshua Redman's okay,as for the old school guys you called,I grew up listening 2 them cos those were my dad's favorites, especially John Coltrane, but you didnt call Billy Vaughn nor Herb Albert.Billy Vaughn's my best old timer, particularly his album,"An Old Fashioned Loved Song",I really want to have that album, but I cant even find it on sites like Amazon etc.I need tips on how to get it. It was released in 1972,no.6025 under Paramount Records.I ned you to solve this if you can.I'll try listening to the few of those contemporary jazz artistes you named which I havent heard! Later man.

Romance / Re: Flirting Is Healthy? by dvenom(m): 11:08am On Mar 23, 2007
I love to flirt a lot but I cant say if its healthy or not.It just depends on the people involved, and being able to stop things from going out of hand, although, that to me is the essence of flirting;things getting uncontrollable.Just try as much as possible to avoid a showdown! As for me,I cant live without eye contacts, with girls I think are soo cute, and unfamiliar,It keeps me going!

U surprise me in every possible way!I wouldnt have guessed you'll like Mobb Deep(I've got a faint idea of ur kind of person)
@ slimghost
With ur good taste of rap, like mine(u know the Hov.Nas thing),you shouldnt even proclaim anything G-unit as ill at all!
The Game was d best thing that ever happened to them, but he's gone;thanks to 50's beef.
Only thing I like about them is d Gee,gee, gee,G unit which 50 always screams, thats all!
Their lyrics are bullshit, plus they ain't got attitude!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal, Manchester United: who is greater? by dvenom(m): 3:57pm On Mar 20, 2007
How dare y'al compare the RED DEVILS to any other club in England?!!!!Let alone Arsenal! The Gunners are good no doubt, but comparing both teams is like comparing Brazil to Nigeria just cos we once won them.Man U guys are and always will be chairmen.Gunners are and will always be pretenders to the throne!Past records clearly prove it,and of course the present league table says it all. RED DEVILS 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some songs just help you get lost when you're doin your thing! You even find yourself moving to the rhythm.

My best are:
112 - Sweet love, All my love
Donell Jones - Guilty by suspicion
Shai - If I ever fall in love again
Joe - And then
Madonna - Frozen

@ Slimghost
Yeah,Nas spits knowledge. Now tell me what u've done wit the knowledge you gained from Nas!
If your idea of knowledge is someone filling you wit bullshit about what happens on d streets of Queens Bridge,
you can as well go to AJ or Festac to "enrich" your horizon of street knowledge.Besides, there was nutin spectacular about that long narration you sent.If you really want knowledge, then you should read on Sigmund Freud's works, better still, you can read on Mysticism!
Music/Radio / Re: Classical Music Is Better Than Rap by dvenom(m): 11:54am On Mar 02, 2007
This comparison is an impossible one,I live for two kinds of music,
JAZZ/CLASSICAL and RAP.
And the two of them are genres so far apart,so I cant say I prefer any!
When i'm not playin Jayz or Nas or Jadakiss, then I must be playin Tchaikovsky or Yanni or Kenny-G,Billy Vaughn etc.
I also cant live witout rap,cos thats my source of inspiration, being an emcee.Plus, goodrap requires a lot of creativity, intelligence. No one should dare call rap nonsense,Its easier to write 20 R&B verses, than a single good rap verse!
RESPECT RAPPERS!

Music/Radio / Re: Nas Vs Jayz by dvenom(m): 11:34am On Feb 28, 2007
@Slimghost
I tot I asked for any of Nas's punchlines that measures up to Hov's!
Nas is gangsta, no doubt, but we judge a rapper in terms of lyrical prowess, and not street fame.Nas's best track ever is 1mic,d song is d bomb, but I want you to tell me what so lyrical about d track,d whole track was just a narration, wit each verse being a cresccendo, dats just it.And you arent d only one who has all Hov's albums,so u cant claim 2 know more about him than i do!Go and listen to the Dynasty album,u'll know better!Hov is d man,no questions.
Plus all his album intros are so so deffff.U dont know what you are saying, rather y'all standing for Nas dont really mean to.After arguing,a fella once agreed that he sides Nas only because he's Nigerian.Maybe thats ur problem.I still stand.
HOLA HOVITO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Music/Radio / Re: Nas Vs Jayz by dvenom(m): 9:02am On Feb 27, 2007
This is to jigga haters on nairaland like slimghost and sjayking.
You guys just lyk to bluff about jayz being thick just in terms of wealth, bullshit!
Tell me which of Nas lyrics matches the following punchlines HOVA churned into the game.

I SELL ICE IN D WINTER,I SELL FIRE IN HELL,I AM A HUSTLER BABY,I
SELL WATER TO A WELL!,
U DONT KNOW

I'M SO FAR AHEAD OF MY TIME,I'M BOUT TO START ANOTHER LIFE,LOOK
BEHIND U,AM ABOUT TO PASS U TWICE.BACK 2 D FUTURE,GOT 2 SLOW
DOWN 4 D PRESENT,I'M FAST,NIGGAS CANT GET PAST MY PAST!,
HOVI BABY

There are more where that came from. Nas is just about storytellin and narrating.
As 4 ETHER,u all know that replies are hotter than the initial diss,so stop makin a fuss of that.
Plus Jigga's got attitude. stop blaspheming,u can compare Nas to Mode9 or D VENOM(ME).
TV/Movies / Re: Portrayal Of Kissing And Lovemaking In Nollywood Movies by dvenom(m): 7:08pm On Sep 04, 2006
damn too appalling!a scene would be filled with so much passion and will be followed by just a short lip kiss.we all know that "i luv u" when passionately said, comes wit a french kiss(a really deep one).we need 2 make love scenes real. Then, love making in Nigerian movies is more of comedy than d reality it should be,that has 2 change!
