Infact, I was bowing to player power. If AVB wants to stamp his authority on the team and win successive games, this is how the first 11 should line up henceforth.

Reason is tactical.

AVB currently employs a 4-3-3 system which requires us to possess the ball a lot more than the opponent. In doing this, when we have the ball, we have to move it quickly in midfield, players have to have very good off-the-ball runs, space is off the essence and when without the ball he plays a high defensive line and attempts to shrink play and confine play to much the opposition half. However, there are key components to make the function well.

1. In possession, the all round game of individual players has to be top notch. Every player must be comfortable with the ball. Every player must be able to move the ball quickly. Every player must be able to make very good off the ball runs. At the moment in time, this immediately rules out, Lamps, Malouda, Ramires and Mikel.

Now Mikel and Lamps have fabulous ball control, they are just unable to move the ball quickly. Lamps is halting. Loses possession more than ever before and only second behind Ramires. Malouda, Ramires have shocking all round play. Essien, Malouda and Ramires are not players you stock if you are serious about possession football. That's the only reason I am dropping them from the first 11. However, I'll have them around when we need to change things. (Although not entirely necessary)

2. Without possession, players must be able to press the ball in midfield and attempt to win it back in midfield because we are playing a high defensive line which includes JT - the slowest player on the pitch. Firstly if you have to play a high defensive line, you cannot include JT. (Luiz and Ivanovic are much quicker players).

Secondly, if you have to play a high defensive line, you need quick, mobile midfielders who can press in 3s. Lamps, Malouda and Mikel don't fit the bill. Ramires is the player you need for this purpose, however he's s.hit when he receives the ball. That's why I put in Meireles.

Meireles is not a hard worker like Ramires but he offers more than Ramires going forward. The best ball holders in our midfield have to be Josh and Mata. Josh will still be deemed as too young to play 90mins every week. Mata by default should play on the wing however, if I am dropping Lamps then Mata has to deputise since we loaned Benayoun.  

Romeu is a much quicker player than Mikel and is able to play CB which makes him a more desirable option to drop back in defence and form a flat three when defending. (Remember we attack with full backs).


I do not have much options in attack. Torres is not scoring goals but Drogba isn't either. With Lukaku, I am tempted to give a chance but he still has a lot to prove. Danny gets a shirt for his performance in pre-season and Anelka picks the left position.


Many of you guys will disagree with this a lot but that's the way I assess the squad based on the many things AVB has talked about.

The bold-ed are well accepted---  but i prefer ramirez anytime anyday, and he is no-sh.it when he receives the ball plsss,

No mind Nateevs. Just because Meireles doesn't do some shimmies that lead nowhere unlike Modric, he is a waste of space. Thank God for Meireles jare. I couldn't imagine going through the season with Ramires.

we will suffer without ramirez on big occasions this season, watch out!

We can't get both, Modric deal will go through , 30m + benayoun and sturridge on loan,  If not Joa Mutinho's deal will strike.
