FrancisTony: To detect an alternate moniker; when you are about to count votes, check "the last commented" and how active that moniker is.
Most alternate monikers resurrect after eons of being inactive.
My 2cents! Thanks Francis. Noted! |

kinglekan: U fine shaaa. I think u shld contest.
****Modified****
As opposed to people nominating their favourite Romancelanders which would probably revolve around the popular monikers and make the competition not too exciting. I think we should make it more open. (Especially for the newbies)
Ladycloud for instance would love to contest, I probably might choose to contest later if the rigours aren't too much tho. The chances that a "not too popular" moniker gets nominated are quite slim.
So my suggestion is this. Those who intend to compete should show their interest. Now here is where the fun really is. Making it open for people to nominate themselves would increase the number of contestants to screen.
There might be a maximum number of contestants allowed at the screening stage. Let's say 50. If that's not too much.
A thread should be opened for the contestants at the screening stage where they upload probably a picture and a short write up to accompany it. (Everything should be specified tho, to allow for conformity). So the thread would be open till the max num is reached.
ONLY Contestants should be allowed to post in this screening thread. MODs would assist in removing those who violate the rules and post in the thread.
At the end of the specified period for interested contestants to post their pictures, write ups in the required formatting and whatever has been agreed upon by the host and other stakeholders, then the voting should begin.
Now the thread would be locked and Romancelanders would be required to like the moniker they prefer by simply clicking on the like button. There would be a specific number of likes required to advance to the competition proper.
MODs would help keep this thread trending so it can generate the required traffic.
Cc: Dygeasy Ishilove Ferano Lalasticlala Rocktation Naijaboiy Of course people can nominate themselves. We will put your other suggest into consideration. Thank you very much Sir! |

UjSizzle: This is funny
"photographs capable of nauseating the optical nerves"
Anyway. I suggest no heavily edited pictures stuck in rainbow-envy frames. If the contestants are perfectly fine with the way they look, then there's no need for all that nonsense. They don't make the pictures look better...just annoying, childish and honestly, terrible.
I vote simplicity in photo shots. If you need help taking a good picture just run to Art/Graphics board of the forum and you'll be taught how to take decent photographs with your Tecno phones
Good work, Dygeasy. I see you took the initiative of shifting the contest from Romance section Cool. Try Celebrities next year. lol! We had to better the whole process somehow. Better photo quality is all we ask. It shouldn't be a romance section thing. |

wristwatch: Dygeasy it's a welcome development but I still have a notion that since it is online and we know some contestants will want to use Fake pix or photo shop pix. So how are u and ur team gonna screen out the real people contesting?
Also there is need to create more online adverts apart from instagram. Though this will be expensive but I am suggesting in order to increase this awareness for potential firms/clients who will sponsor this show/event Yes please. That's why we need your suggestions. Elucidate please. You have my attention |

ivyy: Why can't a short video be uploaded on nl instead
Cc:dygeasy Yeah if possible. But NairaLand allows for just 250kb of files besides pictures so high-end device owners are at a disadvantage. Upload to youtube and a direct link to the video which would be posted on Nairaland will suffice. |

naijaboiy: For both.
It's good the competition is becoming more serious with this innovations.
But let's not forget what usually comes with it once it becomes a serious business. People would want to make sure their efforts are not in vain and may spit fire when things don't go their way.
You know how it is.
How do we curb such? With strict rules being followed strictly, I believe those set of people can be silenced. Is there a way we can shut people up from airing their views? I don't think so. The onus lies on us to put up a good show. |
