Hello Nairalanders,

Your beloved beauty pageant brought about originally by Sexkillz and Ogugua88, The Mr & Miss Nairaland Contest is about to kickoff in a few weeks' time. Preparations are in the pipelines and this thread is to make sure we do things in agreement with our dear esteemed audience and would be contestants. Follow me as we go on through the happenings from last year and our propositions for this year's edition.


TIMING OF CONTEST

The contest henceforth will hold annually contrary to holding it biannually.


Nominations & Verifications


LAST YEAR

- Members nominated other members by mentioning their usernames and providing a direct link to their profiles. The nominated member then chooses to accept the nomination or decline. If he or she accepts, we proceed to send the accepted nominee to verify his or her nomination by forwarding to us (the judges) a photo of him/her holding a board/placard/paper with their Nairaland Username written on it.

This Year

- The same method would be used.

LOCATION OF CONTEST

The Romance Section usually hosts the contest but this year we'll be placing it in the General Section. With FrontPage Coverage, we are sure and hope it will reach every confines of Nairaland.


NATURE OF PHOTOS TO BE USED

We usually create a platform for contestants to have campaign managers and all we have seen over the years is these campaign managers throw subtle and direct jibes at other contestants/teams thus making it a political drama of sorts, of course it's allowedlip. Most of them do little in making sure their candidates use top notch photographs thereby subjecting the organizers and our esteemed audience to poor quality photographs capable of nauseating the optical nerves and can make anyone who is viewing the thread lose interest. We have always had beautiful contestants but their photos do no justice to justify the beauty embedded in all of them.

In this edition, we will make available the kind of pictures to be used and the resolution to the verified contestants. Anybody who has knowledge about things like this should send me an email regarding this or simply drop your suggestions on the thread.


JUDGING AND ASSESSMENT

The work of judges in previous editions is mainly to protect contestants, answer questions from critics and count votes but now, contestants will thoroughly be assessed publicly on the contest threads, their photos, their bios, answers to various questions thrown to them will be scored and these will be used in climbing the ladder towards emerging the eventual winner(s). The assessment of the judges will make up a particular mark out of a set obtainable total mark.

We will be retaining two judges from the previous edition and we would be recruiting two more judges. It is NOT going to be on a first come first serve basis, intending judges will be thoroughly scrutinized and must be of extremely worthy repute on this forum. PLEASE NOTE: This part of being involved in the contest will be on a first come, first serve basis and also based on the repute of the applicants.

SIDE ATTRACTION

We are considering the creation of an instagram page which we can link to www.nairaland.com and also introduce a segment where the contestants will make videos of themselves; either talking about themselves or soliciting for votes and upload the videos on youtube or instagram. However it is for anybody who will be able to. It won't in anyway affect their scores in the contest or anything.

We don't know how feasible and convenient that would be

Your Suggestions are welcome on this too.

I'm wondering what education is left after 5 months into the pregnancy. You need no one to spell it out.

Logically and Medically it is not safe thinking about abortion at this stage of the pregnancy.
