Former Liverpool and France manager Gerard Houllier has died, according to French media.

The 73-year-old, who also managed Aston Villa, Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) and Paris St Germain (PSG), passed away after having a heart operation in Paris, L'Equipe said.


Liverpool said in a statement on Monday: "The Frenchman was in charge of the Reds for six seasons, leading his team to an historic and unforgettable treble of League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup in 2000-01 and returning the club to the Champions League.

Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher said on Twitter he had contact with Houllier, whom he "loved to bits", last month and was "devastated" at the passing of a man who changed his game and the club.

Not much more to update yet but we’re seeing and getting word from others that multiple Google services have gone down. Gmail, YouTube and Google Docs are all experiencing outages, with reports we’ve seen so far coming in from Europe, the US and India. Downtime site indicators are showing big spikes for the services dropping starting from around 11.30AM UK time.

LOGGED OFF Facebook, Messenger AND Instagram ‘down’ in mysterious mass outage, users complain

FACEBOOK, Messenger AND Instagram have stopped working for some users.

Messaging systems on the trio of Facebook-owned apps mysteriously went down on Thursday morning.

Thousands of users are complaining about the outage – what's happened?

Online outage tracker Down Detector logged thousands of complaints from just after 10am UK time.

And Facebook has confirmed that some users are experiencing issues.

Most of the issues seem to relate to messaging specifically – on Messenger in particular.

But some users are also moaning that Facebook proper and Instagram have stopped working too.

The outage doesn't appear to be affecting all users – but it's severe for those affected.

Messengers users say they can't receive any messages, and some can't even log in.

Users flocked to Twitter to complain about the outage.

One wrote: "Is anyone else's messenger/facebook down atm?

"I cant even access most of my s*** on Messenger atm because it says unavailable

"Mate says that its down for almost everyone. Wonder what the hell is going on."

Another frustrated Facebooker said: "Facebook Messenger goes down on the one day I’m trying to have conversations."

Facebook outage – is there an official response?

Facebook's official status page suggests that there are ongoing issues.

And in statement sent to The Sun, a Facebook spokesperson said: "We are aware that some people are having trouble sending messages on Messenger, Instagram and Workplace Chat.

"We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible."

Manchester City's second-choice goalkeeper Zack Steffen is expected to face Marseille in City's final Group C game at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

With City having already secured their place in the last 16, manager Pep Guardiola has indicated he will make wholesale changes to his side.

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is hoping to prove his fitness for Tuesday's Champions League Group C clash with Olympiacos at the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazil international has been out since suffering a thigh injury in September but is now back in training and could return against the Greeks or in Sunday's Premier League encounter with Liverpool - live on Sky Sports.

City have played without a specialist centre forward in recent games, with winger Ferran Torres filling in in the position against Marseille last week and Sheffield United on Saturday.

Defender Nathan Ake is available again after injury but record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, midfielder Fernandinho and left-back Benjamin Mendy remain on the sidelines.
