It's the African mentality my man. They only seek fleeting wealth and not the recognition, fame or achievement that comes with true dedication, commitment and passion. It is appalling really, tome especially.

Ebuehi would be different because he was raised in a different environment.

That's why they easily fade into obscurity and our football fotunes continue to dwindle.

No passion or commitment to their craft yet they'll always run to go and collect Jersey from Messi and Ronaldo.

Smh
As im responding to this, Im watching Japan terrorize Belgiums wings with speed and verocity...we are not even on the same planet

Iwobi has to earn his spot. Remember Etebo is keeping him to the bench for now and not Mikel.
Hasn't he earned it alreadyhuh?
He is our most inform scorer over the last 10 games for Nigeria. I like Etebo ( even though he is moving to epl div2), but when was the last time Etebo scored for Nigeriahuh?

Iwobi cant score, which he has done for Nigeria, from the bench.

Messi beats a large percentage of players by pace. That is why he is one of the most gifted players in the history of football. I do not think Messi beating Omeruo for pace should be counted as a negative for Omeruo. Keep in mind Messi was micro seconds ahead to the shot.
I disagree, but yout point has merit.

Joel Obi - not the same player he once was. Will still be getting invites if he maintains his club form
Iheanacho - still a crucial player for us. No longer a guaranteed starter.
Shehu - Very solid player. One of the first names on the squad. I prefer Ebuehi but Shehu's importance can not be understated. Very versatile too.
Idowu - Solid.
Omeruo - One of our best players at the WC
Obi - if a player is not what he once was, shouldn't he be replaced? Give him the Seychelles game to show if he can duplicate his club form I keep hearing about

Shehu- is an ok player, but just because he was one the first off the bench doesnt mean anything except the coach sees value in him or powers that be see his name.....I mean value grin

Idowu - is ok abeg, but we can do better

Omeruo - had one great game and then a stinker. We all saw how messi beat him for that goal. U dont think France would have done the same? With his experience, he should have fouled Messi for a pk instead of....but he couldnt even catch him to foul cheesy

So the reason Mikel should go is because of Iwobi?
Idowu was our best defender at the world cup and you want him to go? Omeruo too? Go and pursue them na.
Mikel is the past, time to look for the future. I hope u see that. Planning for at least the next 2 years, Mikel cannot be your playmaker. As long as he is on the team, Iwobi or any other creative type will not be allowed to grow.

Idowu was ok, but bland. Coach likes him so he will continue to play. Im looking at it from risk and reward...I dont see the reward with him. He scored a brilliant goal in our friendly vs Argentina and can go forward, but I know he cannot be our best option.

Omeruo had one great game vs Iceland....He was awesome.....but the Messi goal clearly showed why he hasnt started in a while...he got beaten for pace from a long pass over the top. He has tried for his career, but we need to look at the future, not past.

I have to give credit to Pinnick and NFF and the sports ministry for taking care of their business. As far back as I can remember, Nigeria has always had financial problems, lack of promised money, player strikes, poor preparations and useless friendlies going into tornaments.

Not this time. They did a great job and should not let these stupid boys spoil it for future Eagles.

I want NFF to be more involved....Rohr cannot be left alone to pick anybody he wants. He has won nothing so therefore he gets no privileges.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by easyelliot(m):
Looking good as opposed to being good

Im looking at the remaining teams left and all their jerseys are straightforward...while play wise they all have a chance to win the cup.

My countryhuh Swag was high... Jersey was fire!!! Celebs were rocking it, foreigners dey rock em....then actual football was played....yuk..yuk yuk...

Cant dribble, cant shoot, cant defend for 10 minutes, cant run, cant adapt, cant take on players, no fire, no desire....flat flat f*cking flat!!!!

Oyingbo wall is soft as cotton candy

I like them, but like doesnt win you anything. If these two are your foundation, then new cement is needed...the wall let in 4 goals in 3 real games. For a team that has difficulty scoring, that aint gonna cut it.

We need to focus our resources on other sports. Football has gone beyond where Nigeria is.
Football is very scientific today filled with analytics to improve and help a team adapt, anticipate, act, react, etc...we are no where close. But it's ok, with 200 million ppl, there are other sports for us to try.

Looking at the teams left it is as clear as rain water the jibronis that represented us would have chopped at least 5 if not for Rojos and messi saving us from going forward.

We dont have players with the mental fortitude and discipline to take us higher, nor do they posses the work ethic, hunger and informed decision making to go further.

All our players care about is money up front, so they can take care of their entire village and show lifestyle, if not why for the love of God would Etebo leave la liga for epl div 2? Isnt that going backwards? And you are a starter for the national teamhuh??

As for one of our benchers... Ebuehi(still dont know why is on the bench), .....goes from Dutch league to Portuguese giants, with a champions league ticket already booked. That's growth , a player who wants to improve. Unfortunately he is the exception not the norm.

I read somewhere that Rohr said he had a few players that will no longer be part of the eagles...few ke? Ogbeni.....let me help you..

List of players that should not report for duty again

Mikel - holding back Iwobi
Ighalo - CANNOT SCORE EVER AGAIN!!!
Onazi- It's time
Joel- no comment
Iheanacho ( yes even uncle) - annoyance
Shehu - quota
Idowu - coach's pet
Omerou - it's time
Echiedje - it's time

Snatch that 10 jersey from skippo and give it to Iwobi. Iwobi is not perfect, but he can be a very good 10.

But how are we supposed to know that when u are playing a career definsive midfielder as your play maker. The reason? Well he played it for us for 2 years and nobody complainedhuh? Whathuh?

So my coach is telling me that playing against mediocre African talent is the same as playing world class talenthuh? Adapt biko,....step it up...

Rohr should be fired, but he wont because he and pinnick are in bed together.

End rant

Eagles were woefully inept.

The loss to Argentina was like buying a dozen eggs from the market, getting home safely after a rough ride, without a single egg breaking....then once home the eggs are placed on the dining table, only for all the eggs to fall on the ground and smash to pieces.

Whose fault was it?
The egg or the chicken?

Was it a mistake to pay these players on time? Late pmt seems to ginger our players..... prosperity does not.

Eagles were the oldest young team ive ever seen and the slowest....haba...Iheanacho 21? Uzoho? He had some good saves, but that reflex is that of an older player. He has height, but no spring.

Musa IMO was iced
I was watching the game wondering out loud......wtf are they sending the ball to Iheanachohuh?? Musa is on the other side and he is not being targetedhuh?
Argentina was destroyed by a legit youngster in Mbappe who ran that Argentine back line ragged. I guess in 20 years time mikel will tell us they intentionally did not pass musa the ball enough to humble him.
