I won't go into details but i just learnt he's not the only one with his mentality. Good luck to every one abroad trying to make it and everyone back home living it up. it aint easy!
Programming / Nigeria Based Incubator & Seed Fund. by eazyd(m): 8:19pm On Jun 18, 2012
Is there any incubator or seed fund that foster, mentor and invest in internet startups and entrepreneurship in Nigeria? Successful companies are not formed in isolation. Entrepreneurs need seed funding, experienced mentors, and a strong network of seasoned professionals and peers.

It's up to you, what network to chat on but considering people who choose NL- i think we should have a real-time conversation!

Seun: We could do that, but the ROI would be rather low, unless someone starts a real-time advertising network that pays well.

This webapp offers a real time advertising network that might work.

Kenooff: I don't know a thing about programming and i seriously want to learn, please can you suggest any language that i can start from

start out with HTML/CSS
Programming / Re: Your Programming Experience And Your Languages. by eazyd(m): 3:05am On May 28, 2012
ekt_bear:

Not really. HTML is a language for describing the structure of text. CSS is a language for describing how it should be displayed.

Neither are programming languages. No variables, no for loops, no if statements etc.

Javascript is a programming language, though.

HTML- Hyper text markup language

i remember back in the days in naija after high school, i went to NIIT Festac and paid 100k to learn Oracle 10G with no basic knowledge in programming, i had a slight migrane after my first day in class. I tried to cope but eventually dropped out, i nvr went back to NIIT again and i forfeited the cash. When i look back i laugh- long time coming!

Focus on Python first and learn virtually all you can do with It. Knowing multiple languages doesn't make you a better programmer. If you need more inspiration, search Google for Alex Gaynor.

I'm still learning python and taking a second class on that next fall but this summer i wanna learn ruby on rails cos i'm working with a team on a web application using ruby on rails...i'm trying to learn what will be useful to me in the long run, not trying to know all! Ruby on Rails is really catching on..how long have you been programming using python?
Programming / Re: Your Programming Experience And Your Languages. by eazyd(m): 11:52pm On May 26, 2012
starting this summer with: Agile web development with rails by sam ruby. Does anyone in the house has experience in ruby on rails? what are the best books to guide you?
Programming / Re: Any UI Designers On Nairaland? by eazyd(m): 5:54pm On May 04, 2012
delomos: OK, I can give targeted response now, there is the good and the bad.

First off, since UI/X is a relative new and growing field, there are few colleges that focus on this hard-core as a sole program, though, you can take it as an elective in the course of your program. What you want is a school that has a solid focus on design and/or Art which UI/X has its roots.

A school I would recommend whole-heartedly is Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) especially the MA program in "Digital & Media" or "Graphic Design" (which as I mentioned earlier has elective in UI/X,etc.) -- the very good thing about this school is, it's it located in proximity of schools leading research in human-computer interaction: MIT, Harvard, Brown, BU, etc. which are undoubtedly some of the best in the world, and, you can take extension programs from these schools too while attending RSID.

And as you might have guessed, it's expensive, but very, very worthy (and this area of the US [New England] is one of the most expensive to live).

But before then, read books on this field and see the schools (which, if you're passionate about this wouldn't be a chore, or at least see the bibliography section), or institutions they reference, research them and their programs then you can be the judge.

Ones that come to mind and are great reads:
1. The Design of Everyday Things (http://amzn.to/IsVpuY)<<---- if you can't read any one, read this!
2. About Face 3 (http://amzn.to/IsVmiD)
3. The Art of Innovation (http://amzn.to/IsVleJ)

Thanks for the details.. i have no experience in graphic designs, will this be a set back?

Being searching the web for good schools to pursue a Master program in UI design. Can anyone in this field throw more light on this discipline, I am very interested in user interface design and application interaction. Are there any colleges or technical schools that offer degrees or programs in this area of study?
Computers / The Mother Of All Gadgets – Fujitsu Lifebook 2013 by eazyd(m): 1:40am On Apr 23, 2012
What would you call a revolutionary concept that incorporates a tablet, phone and a camera, all neatly packaged into a laptop. These days, your average tech enthusiast typically has at their disposal a smartphone, a laptop, a tablet, and a digital camera; and that's listing the bare minimum. That's quite a bit of processing power and storage space spread out among different gadgets. What if it were possible to link all those devices together into one convenient package that uses all that computing power at once? That's the idea behind one designer's concept for a Fujitsu Lifebook, which would come with slots for a smartphone, digital camera, and tablet, for them all to all work together as one super device.

The unique concept, dubbed "Lifebook 2013," comes from designer Prashant Chandra, who submitted the design to a competition held by Fujitsu. The laptop would feature fitted slots for various smart devices, but those aren't for your standard connectivity. Attaching a gadget to the Lifebook would bring all it's functions to the computer, including using its own processor to run some of the laptop's functions.

i think the most popular language is java. my friend jst got a very good job wit this software company , although he lied bout his past job experiences on his resume but he was the best amongst other applicants during the interview. They were asked to write a java program within a certain time frame using a loop. He started in Jan and jst acquired this supercool suv(fx50) and a nice crib. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Seun:
Please express interest ASAP by creating a public repo and posting a link to it here.

You can learn Python easily using links provided earlier in this thread

Learn Python using the links provided above. Your eyes will be opened to wondrous things you never imagined.

Go to code.google.com and click on "create a new project". You have to be signed in to your Google Account.
If Google Code doesn't work for you, try Bitbucket. The most important thing is to setup a public hg repo.

Here's the link to my google code project-

Still going through google code to see how it works ...
