Nairaland GeneralChristians Urged To Pray For Muslims World During Ramadan by EazyFrenzy(op): 5:16pm On May 28, 2017
Christians are being encouraged to pray for the Muslim world as the Islamic holy month of Ramadan gets underway.

Open Doors is highlighting how the period of prayer and fasting presents "multiple challenges" for believers in areas such as the Arab Peninsula.
The organisation, which serves persecuted Christians across the globe, is urging believers to use their 30 Days of Prayer resource.
Creative Commons

One Open Doors worker in Egypt said: "As much excitement as the Islamic holy month brings to Muslims, it does carry a great deal of burdens and concerns to the Christian community in Egypt.
"It is a very long 30 days during which Christians in schools, work or public spaces will receive harsh looks and verbal harassments from fanatic Muslims because of their faith.
"Even in some cases, Christians may face physical violence due to the fact that they were caught eating their lunch by their fasting Muslim co-workers or neighbours!"
During Ramadan, Muslims are forbidden from eating, drinking, smoking or having sexual relations between dawn and sunset.
One Christian in Oman told Open Doors: "We pray for Muslims to see the truth and receive visions and dreams of Jesus. Each year we hear testimonies of that actually happening. They see Jesus dressed in white clothes."
Meanwhile, the Archbishop of Canterbury Most Rev Justin Welby took to Twitter, saying he was "wishing all observing #Ramadan in the UK and around the world Ramadan Kareem!"

BusinessUber CEO's Mother Dies In An Accident by EazyFrenzy(op): 4:59pm On May 28, 2017
Bonnie Kalanick, the mother of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick was killed in a boating accident on Friday. The accident also left Kalanick's father, Donald, seriously hurt.

Writing about the tragedy, Recode's Kara Swisher posted an unpublished section of her Vanity Fair profile of Kalanick that includes a nice section on Bonnie Kalanick. The photo above, posted by Kalanick on social media, was of the three of them at the Kentucky Derby earlier this month.

"Last night Travis and his family suffered an unspeakable tragedy," an Uber representative said in a statement. "His mother passed away in a devastating boating accident near Fresno and his father is in serious condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with Travis and his family in this heartbreaking time."
Bonnie and Donald were avid boaters in the area over the past 30 years and Travis' brother, Cory, is a fireman in Fresno.

CultureOba Of Lagos, Akeolu Demisses Report On ‘details Of Encounter’ With Ooni by EazyFrenzy(op): 6:37am On May 28, 2017
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Okikiola Akiolu, has dismissed a THISDAY report that his alleged public snubbing of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, some weeks ago was connected to a past business encounter between both of them.

A letter by his solicitors, Okupe and Co, and signed by Alaba Okupe, described the report as libelous. It said, “It is sad to note that you did not bother to ascertain the true facts about the said article for your enlightenment and to aid your pursuit of due diligence in carrying out investigative journalism as your profession enjoins you to do.”

In dismissing the report, the letter said, “Our client never had any problem with the emergence of the Ooni nor did he jeopardise or attempt to jeopardise any project associated with the Ooni.”

With the attachment of a certified true copy of an order by an Ikeja High Court, dated April 12, 2017 in respect of a suit between the Baale-elect of Ajah, Alhaji M.A Ojupon, and Chief Fatai Lawal Abiodun Olumegbon Ajinwon III, the Olumegbon of Lagos, it said, “You could easily observe on perusing the said court order that our client, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu 1, is not a party to this highly complex court proceedings which led to the said court order.

The letter further stated: “The ‘hot sensation’ you wanted to create and dwell upon by falsely and maliciously publishing the said article with a view to increasing the sales of ‘THISDAY, the Sunday Newspapers’ and thereby making a lot of money for your employers did not allow you to exercise a little bit of patience to be diligent enough to seek an interview with our client, who by his status in the society has his public relations officers.

“Instead, you chose to hurriedly publish the said article and rely on the usual ‘lazy’ journalists’ cliché: ‘Efforts by THISDAY last night to get the palace of the Oba of Lagos to react to the allegation were futile’. There was no need to rush to publish the said article but for your desire to create and dwell upon a ‘hot and sensational article’ as stated above.”
It further stated that as a successful businessman/the Oba of Lagos and a person, who occupies such a prominent position in the Nigerian society, the report constitutes a very grave reflection on his integrity and also a most serious and damaging libel on him as the Oba of Lagos.

“Our client has no objection to fair and honest criticism, but he is not prepared to remain indifferent to such libelous allegations on his personal character as you have made. These allegations are very serious and quite unfounded in every material particular,” the letter maintained, demanding an apology and a retraction of the said report.

Apology
In our edition of April 30, 2017, we published a report titled: “Details Emerge on Why Oba Akiolu ‘Snubbed’ Ooni in Public”. We hereby withdraw the report and apologise for whatever embarrassment it may have caused His Royal Highness, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, whom we hold in high esteem.

RomanceWhy Men Should Not Share Beds With Their Wives by EazyFrenzy(op): 10:27am On May 27, 2017
Carol is a terrible sleeper. She sleeps like a clock, she turns around the bed, like the minute arm of the clock. Often, in the night her feet kick your chin, and you are tired of complaining. She says, she puts up with your snoring, so you should put up with her unusual patterns. She has accused you of far worse stuff.

Whose idea was it that couples share a bed. You have been thinking about it lately. All the women you have dated had some sleeping disorder or problem. There was Julie, who practically died when she switched off in her asleep; you could whip her like a donkey or pour a drum of water on her and she will not be stirred. These meant, whatever she did when she was asleep (and she could let out really demons), she was not accountable.

There was another one who was not fond of a cologne. Let's say, her hygiene standards were on the underside of average. You put up with that. There was Hylene, who liked sleeping on your muscular arms, and she could be adamant being taken off the arms. And that stuff tires men like crazy, women should stop it. And there was your baby mama who always insisted that you cuddle after sex even when you were tired like an overworked donkey.
But Carol is something else. Since you married her, you have compromised so much. From how the house looks, to the accessories that should be stocked in the house, to the kind of guests who you should host (mostly her girlfriends and relatives, never yours) and everything, you have had to look away. She is the chief decision maker in the house.

One thing you want to debate with her is her annoying sleeping patterns. She can't demand that she sleeps on your arms, cuddles with you, and then go ahead to sleep as she pleases as if you don't exist. She is a light sleeper, any minor disturbance, such as a mosquito bite, she will cause such a kerfuffle that can be heard in Kisumu. She tosses and turns as the bed is a bouncing castle. You can't remember the last time you had some proper uninterrupted sleep. She is so selfish. Man.

So, last week, tired of her gymnastics you asked her if it is ideal to sleep in the other room or at the very least to buy an extra bed, because you can't really put up with her!

"Stop being dramatic. We are not 70-year-olds bored couples to sleep on separate beds," she shrugs.
"But you really a terrible sleeping partner, you know that right?" She ignores that and says,
"There is no bed you are buying," and then walks away.
Why is she insensitive. Do other married men suffer this much in their matrimonial beds as you do. When you call dudes to compare notes, every man has a sorry story.

"I literally sleep on the far-end edge of the bed and she literally sleeps on the whole bed with the kid," one friend tells you. "I hate that stuff of relaxing on my chest, or my arm. Very tiring, but how do you politely tell her to get off? Get used to it!" another one advises. Others have spouses with far nightmarish sleeping patterns. You are forced to be thankful, even as you check the prices of beds online. This one you have to win.

Nairaland GeneralDozens Killed As Rival Factions Clash In Libya Capital by EazyFrenzy(op): 8:51am On May 27, 2017
Clashes between rival Libyan factions kill 28, injure 128 in Tripoli.
At least 28 people have been killed and over 128 injured during fresh clashes in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, between forces loyal to the UN-backed unity government and rival militiamen.
The clashes broke out Friday in residential neighborhoods as forces aligned with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) fought to thwart a major offensive by rival militiamen.
There were reports of loud explosions and heavy artillery fire across the city throughout the day.
The GNA issued a statement and blamed the attack on Khalifa Ghwell, the head of a self-declared “national salvation government” that was set up in 2014, and Salah Badi, an allied militia leader. They are both leaders of the so-called Fajr Libya coalition of militias.
They “have exceeded all limits... Nothing stops them, not faith, not law, not custom and not morals,” said the statement. “This is their gift to the people for the month of Ramadan.”
Libya’s Health Ministry spokesman Anwar Frajallah announced the provisional casualty figures on Friday, but said he could not confirm whether they included any civilians.
A GNA security official identified as Hashem Bishr offered a separate count of casualties, saying 23 loyalist forces were killed and over 29 others injured in the fighting.
A police source said late Friday that the armed group loyal to the GNA seized the al-Hadhba prison holding senior officials of the country’s former dictator Moammar Kaddafi, who was toppled and then killed during an uprising in 2011.

In a joint statement released late Friday, GNA’s interior and justice ministries declared that all the prisoners had been handed over to them and were “in good health.”
More than 30 senior officials of the toppled regime were being held in the prison, including Kaddafi’s last Prime Minister Baghdadi al-Mahmudi and his former intelligence chief, Abdullah Senussi. Both were sentenced to death in 2015.
The skirmishes centered around a complex of luxury villas that had served until March as the headquarters for militias loyal to Ghweil, a former prime minister who was ousted after GNA rose to power in March 2016. He has refused to recognize the new government.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Libya envoy Martin Kobler appealed for a halt to the fighting and said, “Voices of reason should prevail for the benefit of the country. Political aims must not be pursued through violence. Civilians must be protected.”
Libya has faced a power vacuum since a NATO military invasion following the 2011 uprising.
The country has been grappling with chaos and the emergence of numerous militant groups. The Daesh terror group has also taken advantage of the mayhem to gain a foothold in the country.
The country now has two governments -- one based in Tripoli, where the GNA, led by Fayez al-Sarraj, is ruling, and the other centered in the eastern city of Tobruk, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s so-called Libyan National Army (LNA).
The UN supervised a series of negotiations in 2015 that led to the establishment of the GNA late that year. However, both Haftar and the allied eastern-based parliament have refused to recognize the UN-backed unity government.

CrimeNine-year-old girl Watches Porn At School to learn what Dad did To Her" by EazyFrenzy(op): 8:39am On May 27, 2017
Nine-year-old girl watches porn at elementary school to learn what dad 'did to her' at night.

She told investigators that her father never let her sleep.

The Independent reported A nine-year-old girl’s father has been arrested after she was caught looking up porn at school to learn about what her dad did to her “all the time at night.”
Anthony Garay, a 31-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, was arrested after his daughter was caught viewing porn on an Elm Creek Elementary School iPad. The young girl told staff at her school that her father didn’t let her sleep at night and that he frequently molested her.
Mr Garay is being held in jail with a $75,000 on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child. He had previously been investigated by child protection services for abusing the nine-year-old and her sister. The alleged crime is a first-degree felony in Texas, one of the most serious in the Texas penal system, and carries with it a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and a maximum or a maximum of 99 years to life in prison.
His arrest affidavit alleges that he had been sexually abusing her for at least a year, starting when she was eight.
Child Protective Services were contacted by the school once she had explained why she was browsing through pornography, and an investigator came to interview her. The abuses all occurred while she was at home, she told the investigator.

PoliticsWhy I Said President Buhari Is Dead – Ex-british Lawmaker, Eric Joyce by EazyFrenzy(op): 8:23am On May 27, 2017
Controversial ex-British lawmaker, Eric Joyce has given his reasons why he believe President Muhammadu Buhari is dead.
Recall that Mr. Joyce has been recently active concerning the health status of Buhari.
He had in some of his twitter posts, suggested that the President, who has been away to the United Kingdom for medicare, has died.
In his latest post on Friday morning, the ex-British soldier gave what he called the reasons the truth about Buhari is being kept away from Nigerians.
He wrote via @ericjoyce, his twitter handle, “Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, was last seen by people other than his own staff in early May.
“According to his staff, he handed over ‘co-ordinating power’ to his Vice President and headed to London for medical treatment.
“Shortly beforehand, he had returned from around two months in London, also apparently receiving medical treatment there.
“His staff now say that he will soon return to Nigeria, but he may then return shortly thereafter to London for more medical treatment.
“For three weeks, the presidency has failed to prove any evidence that Mr Buhari is still with us.
“There has been no detail at all about Mr Buhari’s condition.
“Photographs, obviously historical ones, depicting Mr Buhari apparently in rude health have been provided to media outlets in Nigeria.
“Some Nigerian outlets have provided largely nonsensical quotes from ‘inside’ the London High Commission where they claim Mr Buhari is recuperating.
“Nigeria is a vibrant, growing and increasingly powerful democracy; the transition of power between Mr Buhari and his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan was exemplary – indeed it was of historical importance for the whole of Africa.
“There is only one course of action for a democracy when a president becomes ill or dies; officials must brief the public on the medical condition of the president and if it does not seem that he is likely to be able to continue in the role then power must pass formally to the Vice President.
“The present state of play is having the effect of suggesting that nothing has changed in Nigeria and actually this is not correct. Things have changed and Nigerian democracy is all the better for it.
“There is a contested politics now – but that cuts both ways and the APC must not now resort to the ‘old ways’ that party was created to consign to the past.
“There are only a small number of alternatives in respect of the present scenario. First, Mr Buhari is recuperating and will resume his role.
“If this is the case, then why is not presenting himself on camera to his people? Second, Mr Buhari has passed on.
“However, no death certificate appears to have been issued.
“Third, Mr Buhari’s officials are allowing the impression to be created that he may have passed on in order to produce him frail but alive, as they did a month or so ago.
“This in turn may provide more time to manage the succession when and if he does pass on by making reports of his death then less credible.
“Finally, Mr Buhari may be so incapacitated as to be unable to resume his role. Actual death in these circumstances is – in respect of a president’s role – academic. Machines can give the appearance of a life preserved even though there is no real living – and certainly no governing – going on.
“At present, a murky combination of the last two possibilities above seem most likely. In other words, officials and those in the know are working behind the scenes to organise a succession.
“This may seem to make sense from an administrative point of view, but it is profoundly undemocratic.
“The point of Nigeria’s complex system of electing a president and administration is to ensure that the Nigerian people openly choose a workable and representative government.
“This is the opposite from what appears to be going on at present. Of course, it is unfortunate that for the second time in succession a northern muslim seems certain to be replaced as president by his southern Christian deputy. But that is democracy.
“Perhaps Nigerian democracy is not able to navigate this new crisis. It is certainly true that foreign countries are much more interested in the stability of the north and the continuation of Nigeria as a single polity than the existence of a Nigerian democracy of itself.
“In the end, though, it is for Nigerians to choose if they wish to remain a democracy. One clear criteria for the latter is that you have a right to know if your president is still alive; and if he is, that he is still able to govern.”

IslamRamadan: With Which Soul Will You Meet The Guest? by EazyFrenzy(op): 8:13am On May 26, 2017
The Muslim fasting month of
Ramadan is set to begin tomorrow or next.

Fasting is one of Islam’s five pillars,
alongside declaration of monotheism,
prayer five times a day, alms-giving, and
the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

During Ramadan, Muslims have to
abstain from eating, drinking and
smoking from dawn to sunset.

Devout Muslims also mark the month by
intense worship, performing special
nightly prayers and reading Islam’s holy
book, the Koran.

So as a Muslim, with much anticipation of the holy month and recognition of the blessings embedded.
How much have you prepared yourself?
Not just with provisions, but in body and soul.

Below is a poem to reflect upon:

With Which Soul Will You Meet Ramadan?

O you who is not satisfied with sins in
Rajab!

Until he disobeyed his Lord again in the month of Sha'ban

It has come unto you after them, the month of fasting

So, do not turn it to a month of disobedience as well

Recite Quran, glorify your Lord in it,striving

For it is the month of Tasbih and Quran

So, task the body that you wish it will save

For soon, some bodies will be burnt in fire

How many are those that you know who fasted previously!

Among relatives,neighbours and brethren

Death has finished them but spared you behind them.

...alive, how close is the near and the far

As for that who fancies the e'id cloth he cut

And it turns tomorrow to shroud

Till when will man live in his apartment?

The aftermath of his abode is to become a grave of a person
