xp17: of all your irrational questions, sleeping with your dog should be the only crime here. this is because the dog has right of agreeing or disagreeing and in some places it is punishable by law.

in as much you are above the legal age , you can have good and pleasurable sex with YOUR mum and sister, you can even have a 3some with them, it is no one's business. I have seen twin got married in Nigeria and both are lecturers in one of the Nigerian university.

You are disgusting, to you sleep with your mom?

FlyboyZee: Being ignored, mistaken for the tea lady or branded a 'maternity risk' … the following common experiences reported to the Everyday Sexism project are painfully familiar to working women

Each of these situations has been reported again and again to the Everyday Sexism Project. For most men, they will be difficult to imagine. For many women, they are painfully familiar.

1. Being mistaken for the secretary
"Although I've been a senior figure in client meetings, when all other attendees are men it's regularly expected that I'm the one to take notes and distribute drinks." "I am head of the fundraising department in the charity I work for. Every time I go to a meeting with the man in my department, he is greeted first, his hand is shaken first, and the conversation is directed towards him. Once, I was asked if I was there to take notes even after I had been introduced as the manager."

2, Being mistaken for the tea lady
'They asked for coffee, white with two sugars.' "International visitors from company's head office came for a meeting at which I, the only female in management, had to report. I walked in with my report and they asked for coffee, white with two sugars."

3. Being called a "good girl"
"Being told I'm a 'good girl' when offering ideas to senior management. Have to resist the urge to bark. A raised eyebrow and 'I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that' worked with one. The other just repeated it … I did call one of them a good boy once, but not in a meeting. He seemed to get my point but said that they 'didn't mean anything by it'."

4. Being accused of menstruation when voicing a firm opinion
"My colleague had to chase up someone in another department for not meeting a deadline for paperwork to be submitted. When she went to speak with him about it, his response was: 'Is it your time of the month?' This is in a huge listed company. She's a lawyer."

5. Being asked if 'a man is available instead'
"Working in a law office, I've had plenty of people on the phone demand to speak to a man instead of me." "People asking if another vicar is available for wedding/funeral :'Nothing personal but we'd prefer a man.'"

6 Having an idea ignored only to be repeated by a male colleague five minutes later to interest and applause
Women's ideas are often ignored – or claimed by men as "A female friend of mine in an office meeting proposed a logical, simple solution to a recurring issue. Blank stares from the group and a 'We've never done it that way' from the senior (female) manager. A male colleague then makes the exact same suggestion and the room nods enthusiastically and congratulates him on the idea." "I attended a meeting last week where a question was posed. I knew the answer and told everybody: 'The answer is yes, there is going to be a group assigned to do this. 'The chair of the meeting (a man) ignored my comment completely and said to everyone: 'I think the answer is probably yes, the board promised to work on this topic so I guess they will assign a committee.' I shared a look with the only woman in the room, sighed and repeated: 'Actually yes, I KNOW there is a committee assigned to this task.' I wished this was the first time that this happened ... it is not."

7 Being asked about childcare plans
"During my interview for my current position I was asked if I planned on having any more children and what my childcare arrangements are. Each time the question was preceded with: 'I'm probably not supposed to ask this but ...' Too blinking right you're not supposed to ask it! Would you have asked it if I were a male candidate?"

8 Being considered a 'maternity risk'
"I had an interview for an office job for a small company when I was in my early 20s.
The senior partner who owned the company told me they wouldn't hire me because I
would probably get pregnant and go on maternity leave, and that if I repeated what
he'd said he'd deny it."

9 Being accused of 'baby brain'
"I was told on my first day back [from maternity leave]: 'You'll never be the same for
us now you have baby brain.'" "I recently came back from maternity leave to my overseas posting, to meet the new boss for the first time. In our first meeting, he explained that I would no longer be in charge of the unit I had been setting up for a year due to my 'special circumstances'… He also stated that while I was nursing it will be difficult for me to focus on my job, so he was being generous by giving me less responsibility, and downgrading my position."

10 Avoiding wandering hands
"I was 22, just graduated from university and working a three-month trial period at a very small company – just me and the boss (married, with kids my age). One day I was busy with filing, and the boss came up behind me, wrapped his arms around me and stuck his tongue on my ear. I shoved him away and told him not to do that again. Ended up being fired a week later because I wouldn't have an affair with him."

The govt we curse almost in every thread are trying hard to protect us from this virus but yet for some reasons I don't know a family would rather take the risk of spreading the virus to the whole country, just to give there brother a " befitting" burial.
Clear indication that we are the cause of our problems.

My brother you are right on point, this is to show how selfish some nigerians are, a family want to risk the life of millions of people cause of a common burial...smh

You are part of the problem of this country. They are advocating that GEJ who is the C-in-C should learn from the action of Paul Biya and do the needful to fire whoever is slack in taming the ravaging BH, see how ur own thinking is coming out. Wake up guy from all these sectionalism, tribalism and sentimentalism. shocked

i thought GEJ fired one guy and replaced him with another guy that actually relocated to the north and situation still didn't reduce, in fact it got worsen. This is a technical warfare. The Cameroonian army can come here and end it for us if given the go ahead because just like Nigeria ended Liberia civil war, kill both suspect and sympathizers, spare no one be it woman, man, boy, girl. Go on YouTube and watch the documentary on how Liberia civil war was ended, it is because our army spare no one, they executed an entire family just because just one member was an opposition fighter.

This is a technical warfare, its an internal crisis and you can't just kill all northern or bomb an entire village because some of them are sympathizers. If you sir is among the good people in the village and the government said they are coming to destroy they entire community, i do not think you are willing to sacrifice your life for that. But when it comes to other people we are always first to say its a collateral damage.

You think if Gaza was inside Israel and her citizen are Israeli, they will be bombarded/killed like that? I guess not, and i certainly do not think Israel will let any other come in and bomb.

Politics / Re: Damboa Invasion By Boko Haram: Punch Confirms The Insider Story Of A Nlander by EbolaGoingHam(m): 8:50am On Jul 30, 2014
Sincere9gerian: Few days ago, a Nlander (ugo4u), opened a thread titled "The Insider Story Of Damboa Invasion" where he revealed amongst other things that Damboa was successfully ransacked by Boko Haram because the military left the community to their fate due to connivance of the town with Boko Haram in the past.

Below is a quote from that thread

For some of us, we were not surprised by the insider story because I have always believed that Boko Haram is still active today in the north simply because of the support they ENJOY from local communities. That is the truth. Once that support is withdrawn, Boko Haram will be like fish out of water and they will be routed.

But as for APC e-goats, who are haters of the truth and known sympathisers of Boko Haram for political reasons, the Nlander committed sacrilege for giving us that insider perspective. They launched massive onslaught on ugo4u and discredited both the messenger and the message.

Well, Punch has since corroborated that insider story in one of its report today, which is reproduced below

sometimes i feel like the president should only use igbo soldiers in the north, because the civil war is still fresh in their memory, so when they think about what the hausa's did to them during the civil war, they will be over motivated to erase both boko haram and all hausa's in that community.
My thought tho

Politics / Re: Benue State Workers To Begin Strike Over Salary Deduction. by EbolaGoingHam(m): 8:16am On Jul 30, 2014
tbagjames: Written by Hope Abah The Nigeria Labour Congress in
Benue state is set to begin the
mother of all strikes on
Thursday following the
deduction of its workers June
salaries by the state government to enable it pay
teachers' minimum wage.
The development is against the
background of Governor
Gabriel Suswam's appeal to cut
down on state workers salaries in order to pay
primary schools teachers who
had resumed academic
activities barely four weeks
ago after an eight months old
protracted strike to press home their demand for the
minimum wage being enjoyed
by other civil servants in the
state.
But, state chairman of NLC,
Comrade Simon Anchaver today told Daily Trust in Makurdi that
the workers never reached a
compromise with government
to deduct their salaries and as
such the body would convey a
meeting tomorrow to discuss the matter which would likely
lead them to stay out of work
in the days ahead.
"They (government) did that on
their own. We have not agreed
on anything yet and they just started deducting our salaries.
After our meeting tomorrow,
we will definitely go on strike,"
he said.
Suswam had earlier in May
disclosed his decision to reduce workers salaries in the state
by 10 percent while political
appointees salaries would be
slashed by 25 percent in-order
to accommodate the teachers'
demand as his administration could not afford to make up
the differences from its
dwindling allocation.
Our correspondent reports
that since last week, workers
whose salaries were touched have taking to the social media
to rain abusive words on the
governor even as they spoil for
war and have asked that they
government revert to their old
earning rate. Some of them also claimed that
the government deducted more
than the 10 percent it actually
appealed for even though they
had refused the idea from the
onset. Dailytrust 29:7:2014

EkoIle1: Military officers fired over a single incident, but zero officer is yet to be fired or even reprimanded in Nigeria after thousands of deaths, daily BH raids and bombings , even the ones that lost their military bases and weapons to BH free of charge are yet to be reprimanded.

$20 billion disappeared, but no accountability, no reprimands and the people involved are still on the job.

Police college mess nko, the crooks involved didn't account for anything and instead rewarded with promotions and National honors.

$500 million worthless CCTV camera nko, no accountability. Even the crooks inserted into the contracts secrete language that no part of the contract is subject to any disclosure. Imagine the Nigerian people paying for toy cameras, but they have no right to question what was done with their money and in their name.

Employment scam and scandal that claimed the lives many young Nigerians nko? No accountability and the money scammed from young unemployed Nigerians was never returned.. Yes, your own government can scam and 419 you to your face and you can not do a damn thing about it..

Ours is just a hopeless country where accountability doesn't exist, it's a sorry entity where incompetent and corrupt look out for and protect other cooked and incompetent people while the average Nigerian eats up the consequences...

azimibraun: I will like to acknowledge the effort put in by the OP to identify and address some of these disturbing anormalies on Nairaland. What decent and serious Nairalanders are experiencing is similar to having an individual move from working the Late steve Jobs the apple founder to working in a Local government in Nigeria. I use to see nairaland as one very refined and serious minded site but lately i am having a diff perception of NL. Nairaland must not be too serious or elitist bt at the moment its becoming to " agberoish" and as a result its dividing Nigerians more than it is uniting because issues are rearly discussed with th the seriousness they deserve rather curses and divisive languages, unfounded romours and falsehood flow freely. I am sure like many orthers I wll soon get enof. Am in search of alternatives anyway.

booqee: [b]Well I'm not a regular poster on nairaland unlike before but I'm definitely a steady and religious viewer of nairaland and I've come across a lot of annoying posters, with some post funny and some not so funny. Anyway this is a list of things I find really annoying on nairaland.

1. First to comment. Maybe I'm missing something here, does Seun give award to these pple or something? what's d hype about? I find it very silly for grown up adults to be jubilating over FTC on a thread.

2. Space bookers. Well maybe I should cut these group of people some slack. Majority of us don't read past the first page so these group of pple will just type a dot or a letter and eventually come back to modify their post. Its all in a bid to av their post on the first page so people can read or even like it. Doesn't matter if its a dumb post or not. embarassed

3. "Like" seekers. Its not uncommon to see post like this: "click like if you think...blah blah blah" wtf?! undecided Do you convert the likes to Naira?

4. Thread derailers. I so much detest this group. They can turn a beautiful and interesting thread to trash!

5. Tribal bigots. Now this is the group I hate with a passion. They are naturally sad people. Let a thread be about barbie and candies, they can easily turn it to a tribal war, you'd be shocked!!

6. Posters who intentionally speak stupid English to sound funny and end up been very dry. Only one poster can sound very funny on this and that is yuzedo, every other one's are up and coming copycats. tongue

7. People who quote a very very very long post especially that of the OP's and end up writing a two or three letter word or even a smiley! angry Worse still some write "too long for me to read, can someone summarise it"!!!! wtf?! shocked how can someone be so dumb?!

8. Oga at the top. Yes we all had fun with it while it was trending. But excuse me, this is July 2014 and some dry folks are still cracking it! Puleeaaazzzze its already stale and drrryyyyy!

9. Nairalanders who blame obviously unrelated matter on GEJ, APC, or PDP! shocked Ok sometimes people do it to catch fun but its silly most times. Look at this:
TOPIC: I lost my dear granddad to death today. :-(
REPLY: I blame it on GEJ!
Like seriously?! shocked Is that funny?!! gosh

10. GEJ till 2100 or infinity sef. this is the one I find most annoying. Don't ask me why. angry

I'll add more if I remember.

You can add yours too!
