You are right. Maybe he's asking for another vehicle. BMWs recommend higher viscosity for their vehicles.

Your engine needs 5w30 Engine oil (4.7Litres)
Your transmission needs T-IV Toyotoa ATF (3.9Litres)

If your transmission has a dipstick, only check fluid level when engine has warmed up as you can see in the image.

Excess transmission fluid will cause foaming in any transmission. Foam does not flow like oil, reducing cooling and lubrication. This will lead to erratic gear shifting and may lead to Transmission damage.

Make sure to use the right Transmission Fluid for your Tranny.

Do not use Manual Transmission Oil in an Automatic Transmission. Vice versa, do not use an ATF in a manual transmission.

This vehicle is equipped with a turbocharger. Turbos create severe service conditions by dramatically increasing temperatures. Synthetic motor oils provide excellent protection for turbocharged vehicles.
The recommended Engine For your car is: 5w40 Castrol or Mobil-1. You will need 4.6Litres to gauge your engine.

For your Gearbox, Volkswagen recommends VW Oil. G 055 025 (A2) or equivalent.

You can use Dexron III or Motorcraft Mercon V. But I hear the ATF in Peugeot last quite a long time so I advice you first inspect the oil in your tranny. If it's looking black, then go ahead and change it.

Recommended Engine Oil; 5w20
Oil Capacity for 4Cylinders; 4.2Litres
Oil Capacity for 6Cylinders; 4.3litres

Honda ATF-Z1 is recommended for your vehicle. However, this has been replaced with Honda DW-1 which is backward compatible.

So, use the Honda DW-1 Atf.
