Most oil in Nigeria are for Automatic Transmissions. The 75w90 don't come cheap so are not easily available.

Your manual gear needs 2Litres of API GL-5, SAE 75W90 semi-synthetic transmission fluid

When is it necessary to Change transmission oil?

Well, if you got the car brand new, simply adhere to the Service Manual which will tell you when to change.

If you got the car from someone, then you can inspect the oil. Should have a redish/pinkish colour but this again varies depending on transmission. The oil should never be black as an engine oil. If it is, then its time to flush and change.

Also, if you feel a slight shudder when gear changes, then it might be a right time to change.

Are you using a Ford vehicle with Automatic Transmission? If yes, then note this

From 2011, Ford transitioned from Mercon V ATF to Mercon LV ATF.

Never mix the two as this can damage your tranny.

The Mercon LV is a lower viscosity fluid meant for the later transmissions from 2011.

For Toyota camry 2001 aka pencil. Whats d ideal recomnended ATF? And my mech suggest I chande oil every six month,but I have a friend with same car that havnt change his ATF for about three yrs now...how about that?

The recommended Toyota Oil is Type T-IV. If you can afford the Original Toyota ATF, then it will last you 3years (30,000miles).

Honda ATF-Z1 is recommended for your vehicle. However, this has been replaced with Honda DW-1 which is backward compatible.

So, use the Honda DW-1 Atf.

Bros, your engine is now a chairman and I wont recommend the ideal oil. I'll recommend the Castrol GTX with Antisludge 20w50 N7000 for 5Litres keg.
You can use a Dexron III for your gear.

How can I know what is enough when filling transmission fluid? Better still, how many liters will fill a Nissan quest 2005 sport? Do you have Nissan matic k in stock?

The 5gear transmission for your vehicle needs 7.1Litres for a complete fill. However when draining and filling, some oil in the torque-converter will not drain out. So the safe way to go is to refill with exactly the quantity that drains out (as long as you dont have leakages).

Some older quests come with 4-gear transmission and this needs Matic D fluid while
The Quests with 5-gear transmission needs Matic-K fluid.

Ideally it shouldn't be so. But the quality of most oil sold in Nigeria is the issue.
A good ATF should go some years.
