Hello guys and ladies in the house,
Could you kindly help suggest colleges that would grant admission to a 33 years old adult. His academic qualification is a Diploma he got in 2003 from a Nigerian University. He applied to Selkirk and Lambton colleges for Diploma, Advanced diploma and PgD in Business Administration but was denied admission because he has a study gap of over 5 years.
Please is this clause of "5 years gap" thing applicable to all colleges and universities in Canada?
PS: I actually suggested that he send emails to other schools to find out if he could be admissible, but I'm actually wondering how many schools he would end up sending emails to.
Please anyone that has overcome a similar challenge kindly respond. Would sincerely appreciate responses from the house and from experienced peeps.
One love house! |

minnietope: Good morn everyone, @irridemi, I am also in your shoes, I want to apply with my hubby and son at the same time this May/June, av admission for Sept 15.
House, we need to know if anyone from this forum, knows someone/people who have applied together with their family and were successful/unsuccessful and reasons, documents submitted stuffs like that.
N.B. My hubby went to study in the UK for his MSc, we (my son and I) applied after him and were denied (reason was we were applying later than him), when he got there some of his classmates who applied with their family at the same time and were given.
So, for us the UK experience is a huge factor in us deciding to want to apply together at the same time to Canada.
Thank you all in advance.
Also the people already in Canada your input is highly appreciated in advance.
Cheers. It seems the shoes are big enough to contain many more. I am actually wondering whether or not to go ahead with my own application. I'm in my mid 30s, have 2 kids. I also intended going with my family, but I'm still struggling to make up my mind on whether or not to do so since most peeps advice not to go initially with family. I really don't know how I'd leave my second son of about a year alone while I'm away studying. |

Laid2001: The same covenant University, whose many HODs are MSc holders! what quality of education are they able to give the graduates. I still rember the HOD for Petroleum Engineering at the Nigerian SPE conference (NAICE) presenting on a topic that had been left behing more than 30 yrs ago!. His performance was so poor that his PHD supervisor who happens to be the HOD of Petroleum Engineering at Uniben had to get out of the hall in shame, so that people will not be able to ascribe the guy to him!.
If this is the type of University that is best in Nigeria, I would rather my child go to Benin republic for Tertiary Education! Presently things d to be different from what it used to be. Nowadays in CU, before a unit can stand alone and be called a department, it needs to have a minimum of 5 PhD holders. What this means is that every department has a minimum of 5 doctors and their HODs cannot have qualifications less than their subordinates. CU went on a massive recruitment for doctorate degree holders 2 years ago, and have kept the pace up till now. In general, ths school is better than what it used to be in terms of quality of faculty and other areas. |

Politics › Reps Accuse Jonathan Of Aiding Budget Fraud, Say Govt Offices Spend N16 Trillion by EcashPlanet(op): 6:48pm On Mar 02, 2015 |
Reps accuse Jonathan of aiding budget fraud, say govt offices spend N16 trillion yearly March 2, 2015Adebayo Hassan http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/177768-reps-accuse-jonathan-of-aiding-budget-fraud-says-govt-offices-spend-n16-trillion-yearly.htmlThe House of Representatives said it has uncovered what may turn out Nigeria’s biggest fraud yet, accusing the Jonathan administration of spending N16 trillion on its super offices yearly, while the entire country is given a meagre budget of about N4 trillion. The claim was made Sunday by the House Public Accounts Committee. The committee said while the Nigerian government complains of revenue for key projects, the same government has allowed dozens of powerful offices, graded as “statutory and extra-ministerial departments” to spend a minimum of N16 trillion yearly. The amount spent by the offices are not regulated, audited or appropriated by the National Assembly. Much of the figure are generated by the respective offices and are deployed at the whims of their chief executives. Such statutory offices include the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Central Bank of Nigeria, National Communications Commission, Federal Inland Revenue Services, and Nigerian Ports Authority. The revelation came as part of an ongoing examination of finances of government and its 601 agencies, the House committee said. The committee, which spoke through its chairman, Adeola Solomon-Olamilekan, on Sunday, said when combined with Nigeria’s official annual expenditure, the country spends over N20 trillion yearly. Mr. Solomon-Olamilekan said the N4.3 trillion budget for 2015, amid an oil crisis, is a “far cry” which does not include the finances of “statutory and extra ministerial departments” which have been running “about N16 trillion” without public auditing. “The N4.9tn, N4.6tn or N4.3tn, as the case may be, is the budget that the whole Nigerians are listening to but in the true sense of it, the budget of other statutory and extra-ministerial departments put together is about N16tn,” he said. “So, the total overall budget year in year out is over N20tn, which the executive arm operates, but nobody is asking questions as to the implementation of all these budgets. “Nobody is bringing information on the implementation of all these budgets; and this is one area Nigerians need to start asking questions in order to move this country forward,” he said. The House committee said the federal government has encouraged the fraud to continue by deliberately refusing to fund the office of the Auditor General of the Federation, to weaken its capacity to check the violation. The committee said by reducing the budget of office of Auditor General from N1.9 billion to N100 million in 2015, the government deliberately ensured the office no longer had the capacity to audit 601 departments and 144 foreign missions. The big cut was carried out by the Ministry of Finance, citing falling oil revenues. “How can we imagine that the capital budget of the office of AGF for the year 2015 was reduced from N1.9bn to N100? “Can you also imagine an office of the AGF that has 144 foreign missions to audit and as we speak, between 1999 to date, that office has not audited up to 30 of these foreign missions while three quarter of these foreign missions are also revenue generating agencies? “So, there is nobody to audit the revenue generated and the expenditure they incur. “The office of the AGF has been short-changed and the budget has been reduced to nothing. As such, the government of the day is having a field day to carry out whatever its wants to do because they know they have an office that is not functioning,” Mr. Solomon-Olamilekan said. |

ogmask: If resignation was that easy the likes of allison madueke, NOI, even fayose would have resigned frm their positions long ago considering the controversies surounding them. Stella oduah was forced out and packaged for senate as compensation. My point is what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
There is a warri saying that 'nor be who first reach police station dey win case'. That the pdp is saying this does not make them saints. Their actions leading to this point can best be discribed as questionable. They started by attacking the person of buhari and members of his immediate family. The attacks got so bad that one begin to wonder if the pdp was ready for a fair contest. Next was the certificate saga. This was closely followed by buharis health status and wishes of death by pdp top officials. Just when we thought we were heading to the polls, pdp starte complaining of pvc distribution. The council of state met and agreed to go ahead with the elections only for the same nsa who 2wks befor joined the clamour for postponement due to uneven pvc distribution suddenly turn around to say he can not guarantee security. Just after the postponement of the elections, ffk accused jega of holding meetings with the apc in dubai promising to release the evidence in due course. The same pdp thru its national chair, alhaji muazu issued a disclaimer to ffk's statement almost immediately. Recently, inec said they have achieved at least 85% pvc distribution in all the states of the sfederation. Following that announcement was a call by the pdp to use the temporary voter card instead of the card reader/pvc, sighting the part of the constitution which talked about elecgronic voting system. Now they are asking what is theminterest of apc in jega. In all of this, i can only imagin that the pdp os scared of losing this election. Too many excuses. All coming frm the same party. Food for thought.
Let me stop here for now. It seems to me that PDP is utterly confused. Yes, it makes sense to keep Jega there until after the elections because if Jega is sacked, the next person who takes up his position could ask for some time to be able to acclamatize or adjust to his new position. As it is, a postponement in the upcoming elections might just be inevitable if a new INEC chairman is brought in just few weeks to the election. Meanwhile, we should not forget that the same Jega would still have conducted the elections if it wasn't postponed from Feb. 14. |

Ernieman: I am utterly shocked at the comments people are making here, calling the overseer names and denting his image, I can't help but imagine the source of their bitterness towards him and his church. Is it now wrong to be a christain, to be called by God and given a mandate, to erect a church where God's people can worship? This is one man who has carved a niche for himself, loved and respected by many in Africa and beyond, a man who had a very humble beginning, loving and standing for God from his teen years, a great man of God and a gift to this generation....what has this man done to deserve so much hate and bitterness. God is no respecter of persons, He blesses whoever He so wishes to bless and He curses whoever wants to be cursed. Let us fear God and desist from uttering words or raining insults on His servants who we are not sure if they are fake or for real. David Oyedepo is a worker in God's vineyard and God has been His rewarder not any man, or even the congregation. God help us all and forgive our shortcomings. Amen. You are not the only one my brother. I was completely taken aback when I read through the negative comments people have made about this man. I began to wonder if we have a true christian on this forum. For God has not made us judge over any man. People can say the much they want to, but only HIM gas the right to judge, especially one that has been called by HIM. I am not a member of the Winners Church, but by virtue of the fact that I reside within Covenant University, I have been opportuned to attend several services at Canaanland, and never before has this man called for any other kind of offering or contribution, besides the regular church offering which is given once in every service.
