@Jacobcross: U̶̲̥̅̊ are right. We have to be prepared for the imminent end |
Just like the game of chess where every piece is important for the attainment of the ultimate goal of protecting the kingdom territory, we are like pieces in chess game and the universe is the field of play. Ah! Unlike the real chess Game, we all have autonomy to control our lives, we are our own players, the driver of our own destiny. We have our potentials; the resources and natural ability to be that which we can be! Though, these potentials are not equal just like they are not equal in the game of chess. The king has more potentials than the queen, the queen than the rooks, the Bishops and the knights, so were men created in sizes not just of height but also of potentials. According to the rules in chess game , a piece of pawn can turn to a queen if it is able to cross to the enemy territory, so also is man not limited by his potentials. He has the ability to multiply his potentials without limitation to attain any desires! Do not be hasty in answering this question like a close ended question. This was the same question Lucifer missed when he thought he was equal to God. Henry D Thoreau said “if I am not me, who will be?” the same question man wanted to answer that led him to create religion. When you know yourself, the energy dissipated doing wrong things will be preserved and converted to useful means. Many that had made dents on the earth surface by their discoveries, researches, actions, and positions had to resign from one pursuit of life to another. Many were school drop outs. How do you know yourself? What is your passion? (You can order for a copy of The Creator’s Manual of Success for more information!) Fulfillment dwells where there is passion and love for what you spend your entire life doing! please click this link http://www.4tomorrowleaders..com/p/leaders-digest_16.html for continuation of this series. |
Much Ado about Laws Situations from time to time allow the law makers to make laws or review existing laws and principles in different countries. As an illustration, the atrocities committed by Dr Josef Mengele (nicknamed: Angel of Death), a Nazi physician who became infamous for performing human experiments on camp inmates including children during the second world war era brought about the Nuremberg codes of conducts for researchers and scientist. As the world gets older, laws and principles are reviewed, new laws are established that will take into consideration the present conditions and situations surrounding the laws. I wish that and I want to believe (as much as possible) that the principles on religion (which I respect) need to be reviewed in view of the prevailing circumstances! I wish laws will be adjusted for this generation. I wish these existing laws and principles of moral standards, of religion should be revisited to take into cognizance civilization, economic maladjustment, terrorism, global communication and many more! What am I driving at? The Bible says marriage is honourable and the bed undefiled yet the conditions are not favourable. As a result of the economic situation, guys do not get married as early as 32 (majority, not a reliable data because it not based on research), ladies do not get marry as early as 28 (not a reliable data either). Global melt down and economic situation especially of the 3rd world countries have turned everything upside down. Men are occupied, looking for avenues to be productive; women are busy praying for husbands. Now husbands are not scarce, responsible husbands do, that is the situation of the present society and yet we are to obey laws in the face of changing reality, does that sound justified? Some people are killing others, a situation that ushered in new vocabularies such as terrorism and yet, the law of moral standard, the laws I believed in said love your neighbor as yourself, who is my neighbor? The last time I checked, I was told it could be that man who killed my friend in the northern part of Nigeria! I was told love your enemies also. When Jesus informed his followers (the full steps of those I presume following) to love their enemies, he did not categorize the enemies based on their offences. On no account was it written in the laws you can steal or ‘tap’ if you are holding a political position especially in Nigeria despite the fact that people, even your immediate family will curse you if you are not taking or sharing the national cake. If you can steal for yourself, without sharing, people will still respect you; even your immediate family will say ‘raka dede’ as the northerners express their respect for the rich. If you did not share and you did not steal for yourself, people will call you bastard, the majority of those you represented while you were in office will withdraw their respect! They expect you to steal but not to get caught, and yet thou shall not steal! I will pour out my heart Do you know why people indulge in hypocrisies? Do you know why some self proclaimed Clerics; Pastors, Imams, Reverends, indulge in so much atrocities ranging from adulteries, to corruption, occultism, rapes, human right violation and other felonies? From my point of view, these self proclaimed clerics were forced by the changing reality of the present global conditions of unemployment, economic downturn, and metal laziness. I simply mean that most people are hypocrite because they are not interested in what they do, in who they proclaim to be; they are only interested in achieving economic power and other advantages the present situation has caused them. What the majority claim to be are means to an end, not an end in themselves. The same reason why the person who hate teaching will be found teaching in secondary schools is the same reason, a pastor who proclaim and teach the philosophy of one wife, one husband, convincing so much crowd will after death be found with 4wives and many more coming as concubines claiming they have children for the deceased. Now, look at what the laws has done; The law has caused a nun to be diagnosed with cervical cancer (because breast cancer is gotten via sexual intercourse which a nun is forbidden of), Pastor seen stealing public money (including that of his congregation), an Imam (who should be righteous) discovered to be a pedophile, and a religious person indulging in masturbation (as a result of late marriage and/ probably was religious because of economic gains). We all are affected in one way or the other! The big question is, can we change and relax the laws in prevailing precarious conditions we have found ourselves? Can we justify little corruption, little hatred for the enemy, little this and little that? As much as I wish the laws to favour me, as much as I would prefer to give unemployment as an excuse for indulging in corruption, to say that my wife is in abroad for economic reasons, so I can indulge in a little adultery (because ‘body no be wood’), to give late marriage as an excuse of having series of sex partners, to indulge in prostitution because of poverty. I heard the standard cannot change! We do not create the laws, but we are bound by the laws. These laws may be unfavourable and unfair in the trend of things, but they are rigid and cannot be relaxed. I heard remove not the ancient land mark.., I heard, whosoever add to this laws…, If we (being human) cannot review the laws because we did not create the laws, and we cannot partly obey the laws because it is as good as not obeying the laws, we should strive hard to obey the laws! But what about the doctrines we have created for ourselves? If we cannot change laws because we did not create them, we can review our doctrines! |
PROF. AKPAN HOTEL Every day I pass this path, either going home or seeing someone off from school, I see clusters of people daily in different postures in front of this building. Even though there were no seats to provide this constant crowd with comfort, those who were sitting sat on anything that could hold their weight, even the drainage edge that surrounds the building was no exception. Though I walk this path daily, I recently paid attention to this hotel when I had opportunity to see what was happening on the inside. It was silent on the inside; it was lifeless, except for some few steps, steps of the few workers that were saddled with the responsibility of making available the customers when they are requested by their visitors. The visitors constitute the crowd at the building entrance. These people were present to see any of the customers that had booked Prof. Akpan’s hotel. There are lots of stuffs that these daily crowd have in common and there are things that I have never found them do! Crowd at the frontage never SMILE. People don’t laugh here, infact, what you rather hear is shouts, not of joy but of pains, and sadness. They are arrays of people who have never dressed to impress, but rather looked unkempt and unprepared for who they are meeting. Unlike the way many hotels are operated, not everyone can book a room here! Professor Akpan, the head of this hotel must certify with a signature that a potential customer has the right to book a room in the hotel. Who is a potential customer of Prof Akpan’s hotel? I am, you are, we all are! Phone conversations and comments like “it has happened o!,” others like, “so I won’t see her again” were very common at the door step of University College Hospital, Ibadan morgue - a place am referring to in this article as Prof Akpan’s hotel. We all are debtors of death and this thief called death hardly ask for permission from a person before making the person an occupant of Prof Akpan’s hotel. The problem is WHETHER the occupants who can NEVER receive any affection again RECEIVED enough before they became occupants of the cold rooms in Akpan’s hotel? This fact; that who I see today may not be available tomorrow; that I am a potential customer of Akpan’s hotel make me want to trend with caution; spend time with people, respect people, appreciate people, render help to people and love people. When it is difficult for you to say you are SORRY even when you think you are right, remember the above fact, when it is difficult to help a neighbor, remember this fact, when you do not like that face, remember this fact, when it is difficult to tell YOUR PARENTS YOU APPRECIATE THEM, remember people WITHOUT PARENTS. Remember, you can be the last face seen by that woman, remember, you can be saving a life by your smile, remember this before you abuse that bus conductor, that driver, that banker, that friend, that neighbor, remember! |

Do you know that I cannot change some things about myself? As I was growing, my number one request then was always to change my height. I wanted to be tall at all cost. There was a time I wrote in my prayer request that I wanted to be tall like my parish pastor then. Year in, year out, I was expecting a miracle. I even went to back my request with bible verses like this “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Luke 2:52 (KJV) and this “And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men. 1 Sam 2:26 (KJV).” When I looked back critically into those years, I would not blame myself for my request because, while I was growing, families and friends in my neighborhood almost frustrated me as if being short was a disease. As if it is my doing to be short. Statement like “iwo yi o fe ga ni!” (Interpreted like this: Don’t you want to get taller anymore!). Some went further to call me different names. Growing up was painful and getting taller became a dream! Why am I saying this? I have grown up now to know that the most important feature of a man is not the height nor the physical features though they are equally important. The most essential part of a man is the part that is invisible to the eye, that part that determines his destiny, that part that though intangible yet control 99.9 % of his achievements in life. Were you in church today? Was the church filled with people? Oh! The activities were wonderful I think? Just like you, I went to church today; all the activities were wonderful just like every other first Sunday of the month. The choristers sang lovely, the people were gorgeously dressed; looking elegant both in English and in different traditional attires. The people danced appreciating God for the ability to see a new month, looking for favour to see a new year as the year 2012 draws to a close. The sermon titled ‘a new mind’ was dished out by an eloquent pastor BUT ALL TO ME WERE IN VAIN!!!! Are you surprised? Are my words heretical to your ear? Hey! Before you pass your judgment on me, finish this piece of report or testimony I would say. There are different levels of ignorance; there are people who know that they do not know, there are others who do not know that they do not know, other people do not know that they know. The most terrible level of ignorance is when the ignoramus does not know that he is an ignoramus, therefore it will be difficult for him to learn and change. Or how will you explain this scenario that Mr. A visited Mr. B in his house, took a lot of gifts to him, did a lot to please him, spent so much so that his visit can be appreciated by Mr. B. Rather than being appreciated, Mr. B told Mr. A that he disapproved his visiting today, that Mr. A’s visit has cause him so much discomfort and embarrassment. Not to waste much of your time, The owner of the church today told me I came in vain! Why? With all my modern dancing skills; sweating profusely in a way to please HIM, with my wonderful voice, fat offering and my tithe that I brought for HIM! He was not impressed with my impeccable suit, my Italian leather shoes did not arouse his interest! Why? Then, the owner of the house told me that the reason is because I refuse to forgive that man! Nothing more! Nothing more than the fact that I refuse to forgive that man that offend me! I still held that man responsible for the act he performed against my wish. Though he asked for forgiveness and I said I have forgiven him, but really, am actually looking for every possible way to punish him and pay him back. The following few words were the words of a man who never believed God exist. “My own existence, as an individual, is an accident based on randomness. There is not one scintilla of evidence that any other factor was involved in my creation. There is no meaning, no significance, no purpose and no manifest destiny to human life. - (excerpt from: meaning of life).” If you believe that God exist and that he created man with a purpose, am sure you will NOT want to be punished under the same punishment with this man. BUT alas! Unforgiving person can be brought so close to having the same punishment with this man. God will not consider whether you have danced for HIM today just like he did not consider that for me. He will not change His laws because you are a worker in His vineyard, he will not consider your fat offerings, your commitment, ability to give pastoral gifts. Do not partake in the punishment; do not go to a place prepared for the unbelief. Beware of these SINS call LITTLE. www.4tomorrowleaders..com |

This is one of the way to make the world a better place. Noise pollution like any other pollution has its adverse effect on the human psyche. If churches want to preach to other people outside the church, there are ways to do that. We can start from the churches and then move to mosque, then to the market. Let start from somewhere and make Nigeria proud. |
It all depend on personal conviction. God called some for different purpose, others called themselves for selfish reasons. Whatever the case is, there are true worshippers and leaders. |
There was a very charming young prince, who desired the throne of his father so much that he could not wait for his father to die before he will start his own reign. He prepared for himself horses and chariots and went to stand beside the palace gate. In those days, when any man had a problem with his fellow country man, he will go and see the king to report the matter and the king will settle the matter according to his knowledge. Prior to this time, the people believed in their king and did accept his judgment without complain or accusation of injustice. At the palace gate, the young prince called out to any appellant who was about to see the king that his matter is good but the king has never appointed any man to hear him out. He would further explain that if he were a judge, he would have done justice to any matter. After this conversation, the man would want to do obeisance to him because of his royal status. He would avoid this and kissed him. After many times at the gate, he stole the people's heart and over-throned his father. LESSON 1)Working Plan: The charming prince had a specific goal and a plan to accomplish it. 2)Best Asset: The prince knew the people loved him because he was handsome, he exploit more of this-he used his best asset. 3)Equality: Though, he deceived them by letting them believe that both royal and the common are equal. Rather than accept obeisance, he kissed them. 4)A Possible Change: The prince made the people see a possible change by introducing a kind of love, affection and/or concern which was probably lacking in his father's administration. In summary, his first plan in stealing the throne was to steal the people's heart. His plan fell Through!! Conclusion:What can we gain from this young man's success: People will follow you when you love them, but how do you show you love and care for them. 1) Be there to be talked to. Talk less, listen more. No wonder God gave us two ears and one tongue 2) Elevate people's position, level. Display emotional kindness. To be continued!!! |
