Here on earth, we have currencies. We spend money and the more money you can get the better! Money raises status, gives power and makes more friends and folks. There seems to be a link between money, human importance and achievements. An important person if not categorically defined am sure do not spend less than one dollar a day in our world. What about in heaven? Have we thought about it for a moment? Who gets more mansions, power or importance? What will be the criteria that determine status? Are we going to start building wealth and start the race to prosperity, working and keeping inheritance once again like we have done on earth?
Heaven is already beautiful with equal treatment to certain conditions; the gold road is for everyone, the glory of God replacing the Sun is for everyone, the lack of pain and weeping is also for everyone. However, crowns are work specific, different crowns serve as rewards for a job well done. From what we know about crowns on earth, they are symbols of power and honour that differentiate the one that wears it. If there are crowns and crowns denote power or status, then we might agree that despite the fact that heaven is glorious for all; some people might have more power and honour than the others.
So, what makes a man have more honour in heaven? Is it the gifts of working of miracles, or the gift of healing? Is it in the number of prophecies given or the status of the person on earth? We know that God does not respect people based on all these things. But he said whatever a man sow, he would reap! There is reaping in heaven; there are rewards for soul winning. In fact, looking at the basis of Christianity and Christ coming, the whole essence of this religion is to be saved and to help others also. Jesus told his disciples not to rejoice because of the anointing and the power or miracles happening through them when they went for evangelism but he said rejoice that your name is written in the book of life. This emphatically is the priority of Christians; to make heaven and to help others to do so.
There is struggle in the world. We have the powerful and the powerless, important and the “wakapass” VIP and VVIPs. If the people in the world are given the power to start all over again with the same resources for all, I am sure that many if not all will want to be the Dangotes and the Gates. Many desire to be more than what they are today! This fact reminds me that the race to heaven is like restarting the race on earth. There is an opportunity here to start all over. To start building status in heaven!
How does the sound of being a Very Very Important Person (VVIP) in heaven sounds? I am sure soul winning is one of them. It was so important to God that he said every branch in me that bears no fruit is hewed down. Implying that such a branch has lost its importance, more importantly, is what he said next, that the branch that bears fruit is cleaned to bear more. Fruit bearing is so important to Jesus, or else His sacrifice would be in vain.
My conclusion is that if there is a currency needed in heaven, it would be in contributions to soul winning, in the number of souls won. How important do you want to be? Win souls for your maker and let your souls abide, follow them up if possible.
