Nigerians are very historic and cultural people, most of those videos doesn't depict reality, ancient African beliefs of the metaphysical is what they trynna portray, they are 'make believe' and not reality as most people think...most of these things are outdated, they are just trying to bring the past to the present, if you notice, most of them usually teaches a moral, or tries to preach Christ's superiority, they never uphold the act as something good.

I just hope I answered you.
Sure did, thank you
Nairaland General › What Is The Contribution Of Us Africans In The World? How Influencial Are We?? by ednited(op): 2:36pm On Jun 10, 2017
It's true, we are hearing a lot of success stories from many Africans. . .

Nigerian brothers doing their best on technology, Cammeron building many drones by her self, Ethiopia working on her rocket science and etc. . .

From Kenya to South Africa to Egypt to Ghana. . there are lots going on. But itsn't much when compared to the products made till now. It's not debatable that Africans have done some. . .but what exactly have we done?
What are the products that we are sure we've made it first?

I have been watching 'Shark Tank' and it left me a lot to think of.
The mobile phone we are using today, who made it? The internet? The chair you're sitting on right now? Or the Tv? your laptop too?

it is not us!

It's preety annoying. How influencial are we? It does concern us much. . .

I really want to read an African success story to motivate me do sum.

What shall we do? It's not okay going on this way

Of course, this generation may not believe in magic but old African tales has lots of magic mixed with reality, even in the western world, every learned historian would tell you that history today is a tedious job, because historians depend on archeology and other tools to separate ancient western stories which were all full of myths.
Africa is not exempt, and Nollywood only tries to mirror the beliefs and tales of the local people. Nollywood is vast and not limited to magic, it's just the ones you've seen.
By the way, i admire the way you're defining this all. I dnt know if this be the reason but a lot of ppl in here think the west African community still believe in magic. Tho some African tradition must be removed

Ednited, Nollywood has many local movies with lots of magic but there are others without magic as well. I am not a fan of African movies but l think l've seen a lot without magic.
nice . . .I had interest to watch Nollywood cuz i did hear good things about that. Then the magic stopped me cuz 3 of the movies av seen in a row, they all had magic. That's good if some don't

Is the d pronounced with a 'de' sound?
if you read wendm - you read dm as it is but wendem - dem makes another sound
read both as you read any English word, you'll see the difference
d is pronounced as d. No change at all

Oh, that makes the two of us. I am not at all enthused by the growing influence of China. If the current global order has to change, God! it mustnt be China or Russia ( I have no problem with India) at the apex, dominating the world.

I hate their repressive policies at home, as well as their tendency to support bloody regimes abroad, in places like Africa.

And Africans shouldnt be guiled that China and Russia are in any way trying to help this continent. It is their interests that they damn care about.

I honestly think Africans have the best friends in America and the West, their foibles notwithstanding. At least they stand for democracy, freedom- in all its forms, intolerance of corruption, human rights violations and all the other forms of malgovernance.....and wouldnt hesitate to condemn and impose sanctions against the regimes acting against these principles.

Africans must view the Chinese and the Russians forays into the continent with some caution.

I am worried about the rise of China, their growing influence in the continent and the diminishing influence of the West here.
Oh yes, I totally agree with you

Amharic is hard. What's the meaning of Selamta? Hello something? Saw it on Ethiopian Airlines magazine.
Yeah, Selamta is Ethiopian Airlines' magazine. It can't be directly translatdd but SELAMTA is the process of saying hello or saying selam.

'Give him Selamta'- is like passing him greetings or saying hello to him

Is it clear?

Nyc, I noticed brother has a slightly different spelling from the one Hati13 uses Wenedem. Or does he try to make it readable for us?
I said 'wendm' cuz it gets right when you pronounce it this way. But when you say 'wendem' it sounds different. Try it. . .but I think he did it to make it easy for you

Noo, you're not a bad person. I also don't like the Chinese culture especially some of their foodstuffs. Many people hate Chinese but they're not likely to be stopped by anyone. Unless there is a major world war that seriously hurts their economy. I don't hate their language though. One language I hate is Arabic, just from the way it sounds
Really? It means you hate Amharic too cuz both sound the same
