Much as Wike warned about demolishing people's houses, he should have seized the hotels from them instead of demolishing someone's source of livelihood. If it was Protea Hotels or Radisson Blu, would he have gone there to demolish them?

He also has no right to auction people's cars. At the end of the day, Rivers State Government, inter alia, Rivers people would pay the costs of compensation for these victims arising from Wike's idiocy when this matter reaches the Supreme Court. Every action by a state executive must be backed by law or gazetted. So long as none of this was met, Wike's actions are criminal, ultra vires and impeachable. Let the victims prepare their court documents, Wike is in trouble after his tenure.

UMUAHIA—SERIOUS crisis is rocking Christ Church Cathedral, Anglican Communion, Akwete, Ukwa Diocese in Ukwa East Council of Abia State, with the parishioners demanding the removal of the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Kelechi Eze for alleged wrongdoings. The church members are accusing Bishop Eze of among other things, marrying two wives, contrary to the canonical oath of the Church for clergies and even members of the church. Specifically, they alleged that the Bishop in addition to his legal wife known to them, is also married to one Miss Gladys Chinazaekpere Nwosu. Other allegations border on mal- administration of the church, as well as not taking proper care of the priests working under him in the church. The matter has degenerated to the extent that some members of the church petitioned the head of Anglican Church in Nigeria, the Primate, The Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, against Bishop Eze. The members have virtually barred the Bishop from conducting church service or any programme in the church and want him to vacate his official residence in Akwete. Also, the laity of Ukwa Diocese organized a protest against the Bishop, demanding his removal from the diocese, saying he was destroying the church. Besides the petition, a 3-man delegation of the Church led by an elder and the 18th President General of Joint Council of Knights, Anglican Communion, Chief Okere Eruba went to the Primate to show the seriousness of the crisis. But Bishop Eze has denied all the allegations, describing them as “trash, borne out of tribalism and selfish desires.” Denying the allegations, Bishop Eze in a text message, said: “This is a matter that the head of our church, the Primate is handling and one that could lead to serious litigation. “Everything they’re talking is trash, borne out of tribalism and selfish desires and masterminded by the Archbishop. How can a bishop marry two wives?”

FIFA judged Morocco's 2026 World Cup proposals to be "high risk" in three areas and offered significant praise for the North American bid, which outscored its rival by a wide margin in an inspection evaluation report published on Friday. The joint bid from the United States, Canada and Mexico scored 4 out of 5, while Morocco scored 2.7 following FIFA inspections. Morocco's risks relate to stadiums, accommodation and transport. No part of the North America bid was flagged a high risk, and FIFA said it "has a clear lead" to advance the governing body's mission to "push new boundaries in terms of sports- related technology and engagement" since stadiums and hotels already exist. FIFA's five-man panel could have disqualified Morocco had the North African country scored less than two overall, and less than two on key measures including stadiums. The FIFA Council has to approve both candidates at a June 10 meeting in Moscow. The final vote of up to 207 member federations is on June 13 and the inspection task force scores can be ignored when making their decision. The 2026 World Cup is the first tournament FIFA has confirmed will expand from 32 to 48 teams -- putting increasing demands on the stadiums and facilities required to stage 80 games. While Morocco has said it needs to spend almost $16 billion on infrastructure for the 48-team World Cup, including building or renovating all 14 stadiums, North America does not require any tournament-specific building work. "The amount of new infrastructure required for the Morocco 2026 bid to become reality cannot be overstated," the bid evaluation task force said. "The Morocco 2026 bid and United 2026 bid represent two almost opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the nature of their bids." In the next eight years there will be an improvement in infrastructure in stadiums in all North America." An overspeeding Sienna vehicle void of
passengers from Akwaibom state yesterday
knocked down a 400L Mouau student of
Agricultural Economics department by name
Obinna Chiaha who was on his way to
purchase fuel from City base station in the
company of his friends.
It was reported that the driver of the Sienna
was trying to overtake a trailer vehicle
when he accidentally hit the victim who was
crossing to the other side of the road.
The victim who was unconscious after the
impact was immediately rushed to a nearby
hospital 'Amara Jane Hospital' around dozie
way but was later transferred to FMC where
he was confirmed dead by the doctor.
His remains has been taken to Madonna
mortuary while the driver is currently in
the custody of security agency and his car
set ablaze by angry students.
The vice chancellor on hearing this has
declared today being Saturday,28 april 2018
as BLACK SATURDAY to mourn the dead.
May the soul of Obinna Ochiaha and the
souls of all the faithful departed through the
