Daniel is a fine GK no doubt about that. We only have his heroics at the Olympics to fall back on. He's not been playing regularly for his team and in fact a third choice.

I can't compare him to Ondoa though, Cameroon took a risk with him and it paid off, it may be worse for us.

The mistake we made in our france camping was inviting only three Gks.I think they should have invited six(4 Foreign and 2 home-based)keepers since that area needed urgent attention.But the victory against algeria made them overlook that.But Emma Daniels is still better than Akpeyi.Taking a look at the Senegal game u will realize that Mousa Sow's goal should have been saved by Akpeyi but that was not the case.The absence of Leon exposed fully Akpeyi's weakness.Just like the absence of Mikel in the Midfield just told us that Onazi is not yet a leader in the middle.

Those U refer to "has beens" can never be trashed 2- nil by SA.Bro, our team need leaders.They might not be starters but should be given a call-up.We are not like Germany who can do wonders with young boys.Some are even doubting Cahill's ability to captain the team next season,saying they shouldn't have allowed Terry to leave.In a 23 or 25 man squad having 3 leaders is not that bad.

When last did Martin's play for the national team?U can't compare the both.The problem with our game against SA is not only lack of experience because Echiejile and Onazi's couldn't help us.We lacked the most important of all "leaders" in the three parts(Defence=Absence of Leon,Midfield=(Absence of Mikel) and FW=(Absence of ........).

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is already planning for two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in September.
The German manager is expected to attend the CHAN Eagles get-together in Kano, where he will monitor the invited goalkeepers Theophilus Afelokhai (Enyimba FC), Okiemute Odah (Lobi Stars) and Dele Ajiboye (Plateau United).

Rohr already knows the strengths and weaknesses of another goalie called up Ikechukwu Ezenwa (FC IfeanyiUbah), and there's a possibility that one of the quartet could be in goal against Cameroon if they impress him.

''I may not be specific but what I can say is he’s expected to see the CHAN team in Kano,'' NFF Communications Director, Ademola Olajire, told Brila FM.

''He wants to be there to see what they are doing and especially to look out for a home based goalkeeper, one of whom could be in goal in the match against Cameroon and probably Zambia.''

The Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu will work with another trainer who will build the confidence of the home-based goalkeepers during the training camp.

Selecting goal keepers for the national team is not as Straight forward as people think it is. I remember also that Dosu Joseph was 3rd choice goalie at Plateau united prio to that Olympics. His selection was so much criticised but the guy proved himself and shut up his critics.

Let us allow the coaching crew chose their keepers abeg.

Personally I am more concerned about the out-field players. A very good midfield and defense covers up for an average goal keeper.

How can u term a defence consisting of Troost-Ekong , Elderson Echiejile and Shehu Abdullahi "very good".We need a good keeper against cameroon because Confed cup and Afcon have made them stronger.Looking at the SA match, it was obvious there was no leader in our defence.We were poor at the back.So,the need for another good keeper or defender with leadership qualities in the absence of leon and Ikeme.Remember we lost to France in 2014 WC because there was no other DM as good as Onazi.The back four is the only place (esp.the LB and CBS) where we are lacking options.Why not improve the defence with a good second choice keeper?

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi is the subject of interest from Spanish giants, Sevilla, and they are ready to back up their interest with an official bid for the Nigeria international.

The former Europa League winners are ready to make a bid of €6million (N2.1billion) for Onazi, according to ScoreNigeria.


Sevilla have recently sold their captain and midfielder Vicente Iborra to Leicester City, and are on the lookout for a replacement and are looking towards the direction of Onazi, who they believe can fill the void left by Iborra’s departure.

Only recently, it was reported that Onazi cancelled his contract with his Turkish club, Trabzonspor, but later reports suggested he was renegotiating with the Super Lig club. But it does seem the 23-year old will be on his way out this summer.

“Sevilla contacted Eddy’s (Onazi) agent for a possible transfer this summer. They will soon table an official bid of about six million Euros,” ScoreNigeria quoted a source.

The official Twitter account of the Super Eagles in the early hours of Sunday tendered an unreserved apology for Nigeria’s 2-0 defeat to Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Tekolo Rantie and Percy Tau scored the Bafana Bafana goals in the second half at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo on Saturday evening that ensured that the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations winners have won a competitive game against the Super Eagles.

Completesportsnigeria.com’s check on the Eagles’ Twitter account, @NGSuperEagles, revealed a sober and contrite statement.

“We are disappointed with the result of Saturday’s game. Our heads are bowed and spirits low because we didn’t make our fans proud or happy,” the Super Eagles admitted.

The Eagles Twitter statement then hinted at a possible changes in the playing department ahead of the double header 2018 World Cup qualifiers against African champions Cameroon in August.

“We’ve resolved to bounce back quickly, learn from this setback, get better and stronger. We take this as a WAKE UP CALL, not a DEATH SENTENCE.”

The Super Eagles account then offered in the spirit of fair play.
“We congratulate @BafanaBafana on their victory,”

Stuart Baxter, coach of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, has mocked Nigerian Super Eagles after their 2-0 loss in Uyo on Saturday in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Englishman said that much as the Super Eagles controlled the match, especially in the early stages, the team lacked the required quality upfront.

Speaking to South African media on Sunday, Baxter noted that with good cutting edge in front of goal, the score line would not have been bad for the Super Eagles.

“We are still relishing that result and it is good that we win. I am so happy because I just joined the team back and it is good we start well for the AFCON qualifiers.

“I will still say kudos to the Nigerians because they stretched us and made some dangerous movements. But if I may sound very respectful and modest, their attack was not the very best they could have presented.

“They were without quality frontline, otherwise, they could have scored in the early exchanges but like I said earlier, it is good that my players responded very well in the match,” he said.

Nigeria is currently third in the qualifying group behind leaders, Libya, and South Africa and will play Seychelles, who lost 1-5 to Libya in their next encounter.

We should stop playing bench warmers in competitive matches.Club goal scorers should start matches.Onyekuru should have played instead of Iwobi and Kayode instead of Nacho.Iwobi and Nacho can come in as subs.Emenike and Aluko did better than this in 2015.Truth be told.Onazi shouldn't start in Midfield.We should have played Mikel Agu(defensive minded) and Ndidi(to push forward).We need more technical players in the team.Call ups should be given to Emma Daniel and Nwokolor.Akpeyi and Ezenwa should be dropped.I don't see why osimhen should make match day squad.We really underated south Africa.For those saying Ndidi should be defensive minded,am against that.We should play Ndidi and Mikel Agu just like the Togo match.Just the same way the midfield trio of Mikel Obi,Onazi and Ramon Azeez failed in 2014 WC against Iran.The same way Onazi-Ndidi failed in the opening minutes against Senegal and repeated against south Africa.Pls we need a good left back to replace Echiejile.We should try to secure Tammy.Our team will be okay.

I think,we were wrong to start a keeper who plies his trade in SA in this kind of match.

Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho insists he has no plans to leave Manchester City despite being a peripheral figure at the club.

The Super Eagles player is being linked with the likes of Everton and West Ham United due to his lack of playing time at the Citizens, where he is clearly behind Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero in the pecking order.

However, Iheanacho insists that he has no plans of leaving the Etihad Stadium and expects to be part of the club’s plans for the 2017/18 season.

“I’m not very aware of that,” the Nigerian is quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“I just keep working with the team and I’m still at Manchester City so I’ll meet up with the boys and kick off the season with Manchester City.

“I’m happy to stay at Manchester City and keep fighting to help them achieve what they want to achieve.”

Iheanacho added, “Manchester City is a big team and we need to go far as a squad, so we need everybody.”

We could have defeated Senegal 3-1.Nacho missed two good chances .Moussa sow's goal shows that he is a regular player for his club.The difference b/w the 2017 SEs and those of 2014 WC is Competition.We are lacking that competition in Nacho's position and that of Echiejile.If a competitive and regular no 9 is invited .I think Nacho will make a move to another club.Let's look at Tammy and "try" Onyekuru.The earlier the better for Nacho.If not after helping us secure WC ticket.He might have to start as a substitute.He has the talent of being a deadly No 9 but needs game time to develop it.From what I observed against Senegal,if he continues this way another star will rise or be invited for him to start from the bench.Also,we can sub him to try other versatile players like Onyekuru.By the time Onyekuru steps up and scores as a Sub.Nacho will now realize his position is under threat.After what he did against Senegal we should have someone to sub him.Pls before commenting go to YouTube and watch the "full" match against Senegal.If Moussa Sow were in Nacho's shoes he will score those two nacho missed considering his goal.We had and created more chances than the Senegalese team.

I think we need a No 9 who plays regularly in his club for the remaining World Cup Qualifiers.The Nacho we saw in the match against senegal wasted some chances though he later scored the equalizer and this can be attributed to his lack of playing time in his club.We can make a list of No 9's in Europe.Nacho can come in as a substitute.We should avoid the mistake of fielding a player who hardly gets playing time.We need strikers that score when they get the chance.A friendly match tells us more about our team.Before the 2014 World cup.USA defeated Nigeria 2-1in a friendly.One of the goals was caused by Yobo's mistake.We should field regular and in form players especially in the wings they play for their clubs.
