A player that overworked in AFCON. Starting him in the friendlies was going to do what? Give him confidence?

Or friendlies now is not for trying out other things? (Something that raised the legitimate question for why Tella wasn't used)
Why then was he furious that he did not start and was not given enough minutes.

Do you mean Lookman as a professional is not aware of your last statement?

You know how good the Malian team was in the last AFCON.

They have one of the best defense in Africa but Findi did not deem it fit to start his best striker against them even with V.O absence.

GBAM! Osimhen’s biggest weakness right now is his injury record. If he was fit for 30-32 league games this season I’m sure he’d have been challenging Martinez for golden boot again.

I do think his absence in this round of WCQ matches might be a slight blessing in disguise as it might mean Boniface will play as a 9. It’s something I’ve wanted to see for a while and the chance is here.
I just read from owngoal, that Findi is mulling over the possibility of dropping Lookman to the bench against South Africa.

I love his 3-5-2 for the game. But I must say this, Lookman will be crucial to our world cup qualification.

In the AFCON he scored 3 goals in the knock out stages to get us to the final. He scored a hat-trick in the finals of the Europa league. He also scored and assisted in the first-half of their game yesterday against Fiorentina.

He is in hot form and should not be dropped to the bench by any tactician.

I recall Keshi blessed memory was having issues with Osaze Odemwingie prior to 2014 WC.It took a massive outcry from fans for him to be included in the WC squad.Same Osaze qualified us for round 16 with his goal against Bosnia, slotting one past Asmir Begovic his former GK.

Please our local coaches should learn to manage the egos of the high profile players in our team. This was also Sunday Oliseh's undoing. He benched Mikel for Paul Onobi, dropped Enyeama for Carl Ikeme.

We need to make our local coaches understand that good man management is pivotal to having a successful career as a coach.

Why is Aina not on the list ❓
I think he is injured.

Aina doesn't offer defensive solidity on the right. He has more attacking attributes.

If we must play him, we must be sure, we have a solid Central defender on the right to cover for his defensive lapses as was evident in the final game of the AFCON.

KC has just had a season to forget he was supposed to tear the championship apart but rather he got torn apart and whipped in the Championship.

He is not in form should not even be in the team.

Striking technique and has scored 5 goals from 23 games in the Championship.

They should find a NPFL player to come in, it seems Aribo is not in the team so where is the creativity and invention in midfield going to come from. It seems all creativity and invention will rest on Iwobi 😳

SA forget the players are a very good team with outstanding cohesion and team understanding they are technically good if we underestimate them we will cry 😭
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Ibrahim Olawoyin are both creative midfielders for Antalyaspor and Rizespor respectively.

Ajayi will struggle in that position
Best to switch with Tiaminu
Is Tiaminu not a left footer ?
They will bully Yusuf off the ball
Onyeka should preferably play the box to box roll
With Onyeka and Ndidi pairing in the middle
I see is crushing teams lol
I don't really think Onyeka is 100% fit.

This one looks haram formation.
Replace Ndidi with Rapheal Onyedika if you want more of building from the rear, as he is the only midfielder who can comfortably drop to the defence(functioning as a DLP).

Yusuf starts as the perfect box2box midfielder, since Onyeka isn't available. He has the work rate.

This is a crucial WC qualifier game. You don't
just have to attack and attack. You must keep it tight at the back.

Sodiq Ismail is the only player in my starting line-up who have not played with the team before.

Aribo shouldn't be starting a game of this magnitude since he is yet to recover his form.

Raphael Onyedika and Ndidi should not start as a midfied pair. From our friendly against Mali, there seem to be no clear definition of roles. One should start ahead of the other.

We should line-up this way come 7th of June.
3-2-2-2-1

............. Nwabali...........

.......... Tiaminu...... Bassey ...... Ajayi.......

....Sodiq Osayi.......

.......... Yusuf.... Ndidi........

.......... Iwobi..... Lookman........

............. Boniface............

After Wilfred Ndidi's move from Genk to Leicester, the coach that trained Ndidi in Lagos millitary cantonement from age 13-17 was paid 400,000 euros.

Can we call this fee, developmental fee?

This should put an end to the argument of Amunike being an Egunje coach. undecided

What I had in mind when I first came up with this formation about Iheanacho playing as a Right Winger is what actually played out when he came on. With a little time on the pitch, he was able to release Moffi which drew a foul, red card, and almost resulted to a penalty for Nigeria. Iheanacho offers a serious goal threat, and also creates chances with his well taken passes which strikers and runners like Osimhen and Moffi can actually thrive on.
Moreso, the South Africans could barely attack from his wing while he was on the pitch, so this ludicrous talk of not offering defensive cover doesn't hold water and quite implausible.
Your 3CBs lack pace.

Pepe who will be facing Omeruo will make a mince meat of him.

Bassey should start as LCB.

Chukwueze: There is nothing special about Williams, we will beat Bafana in 90 minutes

Nigeria and AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is confident that they will beat Bafana Bafana without going into penalties and has played down the notion that Ronwen Williams is a penalty-saving specialist.

"Penalty is a game of luck, anybody can miss. It's the one he saw that he saved," Chukwueze said.

"I'm not saying he's not a good goalkeeper, actually a good goalkeeper, but the most important thing is for us to win in 90 minutes or 120 minutes. We will win without going into penalties.

"It's not about being scared, it's about being on a safer side at the moment. We have been watching their clips, they are good on their own day but we'll try our best and win."
After watching the game, I discovered Neco Williams weakness. He saved all ground PKs, but couldn't save the one that ended at the top right corner.

Let's not give him ground shots tomorrow.

Go Super Eagles!!!

Who told you Onyeka is not a DM please? That is his primary position. He is just like Kante. DMs like them like to roam rather than stay rigid and hold position in the midfield.

To your last question, Yusuf doesn't have that physical presence to play as a DM. His height is another issue too.
We have had many diminutive DMFs in the past.

95% of Onyeka's game for Brentford has been as a CM/box 2 box midfielder. He even has assists and goals in that role. You can use sofascore.

Yusuf can also fit in as a DM.

Our current mid-field set-up requires one CM/DLP and one box 2 box midfielder/CM or rather 2 CMs.

This is why Raph Onyedika couldn't come on against Angola. Yusuf who is a box 2 box midfielder replaced Iwobi and Aribo another box 2 box midfielder replaced Frank Onyeka.

KC I feel should not be in the team he's not match fit and is not in form. But Moffi is the unknown quantity waiting to prove many of you wrong.

If Moffi starts he should score two at least.
Please football doesn't work like that.

At this stage of the tournament, no one tries to experiment. You should know this better than anyone else.

I disagree the little I've seen of Moffi he has trickery, skill and yet still strong not too fast but fast enough. He will be an unknown quantity.

Right now everyone knows VO and how he plays and over prepare for him . I think with Moffi they will be a bit confused 😕 as to how to deal with he has the element of Surprise I also expect him to be HIGHLY MOTIVATED.

I don't by any stretch of the imagination think he is better than VO but he is unpredictably different. That might work to our advantage.

At this stage of the tournament you wan still do experiment.Nawaa oo.

Onyeka is not a DM either. He lacks the positional discipline for that role.Brentford always play Onyeka as a CM/b2b midfielder.

If Onyeka can fit in, why not Yusuf?

Aribo has been on the bench for most games this season.

He only started the 4 games b4 the AFCON.

In the last AFCON, he assisted Iheanacho's goal against Egypt.
