Dpsychologist, why chicken out and deactivate?

If Seun passes on, this place dies immediately. We’ve seen 1,001 Nigerian businesses die with their owners. This will be one of them.

Before some people start shouting “don’t wish death on anyone,” calm down and read with understanding.

This is not a hate post, prayer point, or attack on Seun. In fact, long life and good health to him. This is simply a genuine question about continuity, structure, and the future of one of Nigeria’s biggest online communities.

Nairaland has existed for years and has become more than just a forum. For many Nigerians, it was the first place to:

discuss politics;

learn tech skills;

advertise businesses;

share life experiences;

read breaking news before blogs carried them;

and even meet lifelong friends.


But one thing many people quietly wonder is:

What happens to Nairaland if Seun eventually passes on to glory someday?

Every major platform in the world has succession plans, boards, investors, or systems that ensure continuity. Whether it is a company, media house, church, or football club, people naturally ask questions about sustainability.

So why does this particular conversation always get deleted whenever it comes up?

Discussing the future of a platform is not disrespectful. It is common sense.

Nobody lives forever. That is simply reality. If Nigerians can discuss what happens after presidents leave office, what happens to businesses after founders die, or what becomes of family empires after their owners pass on, then asking about the future of Nairaland should not automatically be treated like a taboo topic.

To be honest, many users already know this thread may never make front page because similar discussions have allegedly disappeared in the past. But deleting the conversation does not stop people from thinking about it.

Some honest questions:

Is there a succession plan?

Is Nairaland structured beyond one man?

Would the platform survive another 20 years?

Could the community continue without Seun’s direct involvement?

Is there anybody being groomed to take over?


Again, this is not an attack. It is a discussion about legacy, sustainability, and the future of a platform that shaped internet culture in Nigeria.

What do you honestly think?

Every situation in life is a concerted effort.

And pray that,that which is bigger than your means don't come close to you.

You mean illnesses or multi-child births? I have relatives willing to back me up. I hope to never turn to strangers for help.

Many who were living within their means are choking because of debts.

Where there is life, there is hope. Living within their means grants them the window to make back sums within short periods.

Why are they always sorry when caught? It is a tale as old as time.

If you want to see the worst from Nigerians, face any of these:

1. Steal from them.
2. Ask for financial assistance.

I have sworn to never face number two. I will rather die in hunger than ask a Nigerian for money.

Cash business do sure but they are breaking the law. These companies should be published to. If a trucking company hires illegal workers to drive trucks for half the price and they crash the truck then that company owner should go to jail in my opinion

Your opinion is not reality. Those companies will always find loopholes to absolve all guilt. Active labour makes economies grow, not sitting to wait for jobs.

Personally only business I see with non south Africa by me are corner shops and drivers. The actual companies, malls, factories, banks extra are south Africans. If all the corner shops by me vanished it would not make it harder to get any thing since the pic n psy is cheaper than the corner shop in any case.

If everybody found it convenient to go to pick and pays, those corner shops would not exist.

Sure some business employ foreigners but these are experts and have work visas. Most foreigners in south Africa are illegal or are here on Visas that dont allow them to work or run business so are breaking the law.

The law should handle the matter, not Thaba and Tebogho on the street. Whenever those two take action, everyone suffers. South Africans are labeled as xenophobic from all the news we read concerning sentiments towards foreigners.

I will never understand kicking balls into a goal or throwing them into a hoop. I’m slowly figuring out the rules associated with throwing a ball over uprights. Getting punched in the face is as instinctual as eating food and sleeping. One doesn’t need prior knowledge of any sort to realize who’s winning a fight. Working hospitals, working schools, stable power supply, safe drinking water in the taps, wide reaching stable internet, and a host of things. Issue is they never paid for them and the foreigners drain the rescoures.
