F1 visa applicant does not really have to proof ties to 3rd country but you must proof non availability of available interview dates in your country of residence beyond reasonable doubt.

👆 If you cannot proof the above that means you are engaging in CONSULAR OR FORUM SHOPPING. Meaning you thought going to a 3rd country (eg UK, Ghana, Canada, Sweden , Togo etc) will give you advantage. By this very fact, your visa might be auto- denied . 👍

Yes convincing SOP and good recommendation especially from the academia and work history (with professors or related career) can patch your lapses of low CGPA. Please work on these.

No. It's not possible. Gone are the days when you could attend your visa interview without a photo attachment in your DS-160 printout.

Go to a cyber cafe and seek for help. They will do it with a token. You obviously cannot do it yourself. 👍

You can't do it. Go to a cyber cafe and tell them to assist you in resizing the photo to 2x2 or give someone who is conversant with computer navigation. The photo color also needs to be normalised. 👍

If you are not having your F1 visa interview in this month of September or next month October, year 2025 , then the six-month passport validity rule will catch up with you.

In summary , if your Spring F1 visa appointment is after October , 2025 then you must go and renew your travel passport. 👍

Mistake is permissible and understandable. It will not affect her visa or interview. The final bio-data info the embassy rely upon when issuing your visa is that of your Travel Passport. Ipso facto, they wont follow the DS-160 DOB. 👍

Your question has little information and I think you are a bit confused with the procedures. I will still take the opinion of @welf99 and conclude that if this (the attached ) is your updated Form I20 then, you were not taken for Spring 2026 MBA or the admission office forgot or mixed up your old I 20 with the new one at the time of sending it to you.

Nevertheless, the Form I-20 you attached does not have Major Code -2 (not major 2) because your program of study is a single major (it means all Universities in the USA knows the major with the same name).

Major Code 2 is the U.S department of Education (ED) idea of Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) . Eg if your major at Havard University is English Language , UC Berkely might be taking it as Language Studies. Therefore, your major 1 on any given I-20 will be English Language. While Major Code - 2 on the same I-20 will be Language Studies. 👍

There are many disadvantages following your query but let me summarise it.

A. Your present query is being put forward at the eleventh hour. Senior citizens (age 60 above) needs approximately 2 - months to retain or fully memorise new information in the form of a questionnaire off hand, and that is even if they are constantly engaging themselves in the task. The exception here is if they are naturally gifted or if they are an educationists.

B. Your present query contain zero information . If I were you , I would ask the question thus :

Well, you are still going to represent both kids as they are not going to be personally interviewed but unfortunately, the embassy will only want to see them on their appointment day.

I dont think any child who is not a sucking baby or infant who is absolutely dependent on you every munites of the day will be allowed to be interviewed with you.

1. You may try the ER if it will work out.
2. You may attend the interview together and take their documents along.

No one can predict the outcome as the US embassy is no more near predictable presently. 👍

Well, how are we even having the confidence that the VO will ask you the question? How are we certain that you were denied based on the 1k deficit ? This particular scenario is where the consular officers throw us off balance 😎

Anyways , if i were you i will update my proof of funds with the 1k . Go with updated bank statement and if you are absolutely certain that your last denial was as a result of the 1k deficit you may as well include the availability in your new DS-160 explanation.

In that regards, your next VO will like to see the evidence. 👍

If the school did not notify you officially (that is it does not reflect in your Form-I 20) then dont worry about it because there is no way the VO is going to know that information.

But if your school notified you officially (which is likely going to prompt the issuance of New Form-I20) then all you have to do is to update your POF.

Either way round, if the increase is not reflecting in your Form-I20 dont worry about it. VO ask you questions based on your DS-160 and your Form-I 20 information. 👐

The information you heard is not true. You can apply from any country especially as an F1 visa applicant. The only thing is that you must proof a kind of tie to such country or absolute reasonable reason which prompted you to opt for such 3rd nation. 👍

I saw your other post in Canada thread regarding the use of agents and you also made this same query last year. I am guessing you have not gotten the right answer .

I think the purpose of this particular thread is to make the visa application open and easier for anyone to understand and i can bet it that there are many agents who learn from this same forum themselves.

If you have the time and not really engage by too many activities then of course you don't need anyone to apply for B1/B2 visa, all you need to do right now is go and start studying this same forum from page 1 and keep a pen and a jotter. I am certain by the time you get to page 50 you would have grasp lot of procedures.

If However you are a busy type with too many distracting activities then you can engage the service of a reputable agent. It is then up to your task to be certain that the agent knows the job very well, and that he or she is an honest person. 👍

B1 is the easiest to get. B1 is visiting majorly on business thus , you are adding some values to their economy.

B2 is visiting for pleasures, weddings, burial ceremony, graduation, medical which are all based on your personal interests.

Ironically, 90% of the time, both visa categories are still going to be combined (B1/B2) on your passport because they are related. 👍

Your son is a human being and the rule is that he must attend the interview on his appointment day despite the fact that children under 14 yrs won't be interviewed.

You should have booked your appointment together or request for Emergency Appointment for him by attaching your own appointment letter so that they can open a date for him to catch up with yours.

Nevertheless, take him along on your interview as there might be prerogative of consideration for him as a sucking infant who might need intermittent breastfeeding. Go along with his documents. 👍

You and your dependents should fill individual visa application (separate DS-160) and use one AVITS amentum profile (your profile) for all of you. You must also start the procedure with your own application and in the process list your travel accompanying persons.

You have to be very very careful if you are a first timer because family application is a complex procedure. I will recommend you seek the assistance of a family member , friend or any other person with good experience to navigate it for you. You may as well go back to the middle of this thread for accurate guidance. 👍🏽

We were going through her documents today and discovered that the DS 160 needs to be filled within six months of interview . We tried to update the DS 160 but they said since it’s within three business days before the interview, we cannot update it. If you have scheduled her appointment this year (February, 2025) then there is no need for you to update her DS-160. The rule of DS-160 is firm and intact but at the same time it is a reminder formality if your visa appointment is still within the same year .

However, if your sister's information (home address , email, phone number , etc ) has changed within the period or she was black in completion before but now white in completion as a result of medical reason or natural occurrence then she need to fill another DS-160 and use her current photo.

Either way round, she can fill another DS-160 right now as you are reading this and have it updated immediately. It is now a computer programed procedure. 👍🏽

If your boss wish for you to visit the USA of course yes, it is very very possible.

The only thing is that if you are visiting the USA for fun or for sight seeing of how the USA people and cities looks like then you will be applying for tourist visa (B2) .

(2). You also need to reserve (book hotel) accommodation in America where you will be staying during your tour. (3). Another important aspect is to display to the consular your proof of fund or availability of money to spend during your visit , and finally you have to proof to the consular that you will return to Nigeria as soon as you are done with your tour of America.

It is not an impossible task. It is easy and your first step right now is to fill DS-160 elcetronic visa application online and pay the visa fee. Go back and start studying this thread from page 1. You will get further clues. 👍🏽

Officers in Embassy and Port of Entry have more power over your VISA than your school. Ask the right question from the right source and do the right thing.

Yes psychologically and the first logical reasoning is that she dozed off while driving at a high speed. I was once in a car with my uncle along local airport road around 12 a m driving home, this was like 20 years back because I could not drive a car then. So, he deliberately told me to be talking to him continuously but he did not tell me the reason (a big mistake). Eventually he dozed off and got the driver's side tye busted by slamming into the side colvet. God saved us no car was behind and no car was coming.

Another scenario is that women are always afraid, she might be speeding and not wanting to give any car an overtaking chance fearing that any car behind can be a kidnapper or an armed robber at that wee hour, thus giving her the illusion to keep speeding until she lost control.. Any which way may her soul rest in peace. 👏

Go and complete your DS-160 and submit it with your passport photo. Then login to your AVITS profile and cancel your pending appointment. After that click on " Create New " in order to start afresh.

NOTE:. DS-160 confirmation numbers can be confusing especially, O (orange), 0 (007), etc . You have to look at it very well in order to not mixed up alphabet with numerical number. 👍

Do you want to go and do trial and error or how will you explain your late arrival to the consular officer ?

Lets assume that you get a date come next Friday (29th) and your visa got approved, then you should expect to finally pick up your visa let's say fastest 10th of September and you find yourself at the port of entry on the 13th. How will you explain the 15 days you have missed behind at the POE ? Mind you, this is just my assumptions of you as a student from a wealthy family otherwise you may still need additional week (s) to source for travel funds.

You must be a good negotiator to beat any visa officer when attending your visa interview after the start of class. Also don't rely on late arrival letter from your school when your lateness is over 1 - week at the port of entry. Hence, you are facing double brick Walls (embassy & port of entry). Defer your admission. 👍

I don't know of any official date search group on Nairaland. However, there is nothing a date-searching group can do that you cannot do yourself. There is no magic anywhere other than keeping an eyes on your reschedule option and equipping your gadget with faster internet and frequenting your avits profile with caution. The last resort is to apply for an emergency appointment for your mum (if she qualifies). 👍

The consular officer was not deliberately being silly, but there was a prompt you did not know which made him or her to check your client's alien file. That file will be kept for 100 years on all entry and exit records.

However, it is not something they do all the time except if the person has been criminally annotated. There is nothing wrong in giving birth in the U.S if you make the intention known in your visa application, pay all medical fees required, and tell the consular verbally (genuine intention). In that case. your B2 visa can be annotated for child birth in which you won't have any problem in the future.

May be your client did not follow the rules & policies for childbirth. 👍

A Medical Emergency Appointment request if done according to the rules should not take more than 48hrs to be approved or denied. Medical & Study emergency request get faster response but you must follow the rules.

The major rule for your ER under medical is that a Nigerian hospital must refer you to a specialist in the U.S.A, and the specialist (U.S. Hospital) must accept to treat you and invite you over. In this respect, you need the Nigerian hospital letter and the US hospital invitation letter to apply for your ER.

NOTE: If certainly you have followed the above guidelines and you are yet to receive approval or denial response, then that means there are lot of applications that is being put forward to the embassy. You are free to open a ticket or send an email to remind them. Alternatively, you may reapply again if the option is still in your dashboard. 👍

How can intended Travel Date on DS-160 is just intended ? The visa officer is staring at your DS-160 in front of him or her and he or she is correlating it with your submitted Form I-20 with start of class also in front of the consular. Can you now see that your info here is to confusing and misleading on visa applicants?
