Went to check on a friends car in my Mechanic and saw the conversion kit for the W200.
Price: N75k

Thanks for this! Where's your mechanic situated? I'll probably be doing this soon; nonetheless thinking about giving the airmatics a try for a period before switching, or maybe not even switching at all. Just sad that there aren't any tales of its reliability, just stories telling otherwise. I can bear the cost if it's something you have to do every two years or so. Recurrent, unexpected failures are just the things I'm afraid of. I'm a bit of a purist and a bit afraid I wouldn't regard the car in the same esteem as I did with the air suspension...

I would talk to my mechanic but I would rather order it online. Is the car the W220?

OK, thanks. Yes, it's a w220 S350..(not S 320 smiley )

Changing from Airshocks to springs would have no negative effect on the car just that the ride on the Airmatic is very smooth and it kind of glides over rough patches on the road it's more of a thing of luxury changing to spring gives it regular everyday ride feel no problems at all. Just make sure you order the genuine kit for the car in question.

Airmatic means flying Business class while springs mean economy remember you're both in the same Airplane but the luxury and comfort no be the same so no biggie.

Thanks for the response, very much appreciated. Do you where I can get the original kit here in Lagos?

Good morning Benz addicts,

A friend is keen on buying a 2004 S350. The deal is cool and all seems ok. But the airmatic suspension is fault.
Something to do with the airpump. Checks show that a new pump can be installed for N25k.

But then, how reliable and durable is the Airmatic suspension? IS it a component requiring specific servicing regime and then again, is it a component that will frequently break down?

Any other issues he needs to be conscious about on the S350?

Hello house... still on this topic; would it be wise to take out the airmatics and install conventional shocks/springs? Are there any potential distortions to the ride/performance of the car if this is done? I'm considering the car but wary of the horror stories that seem to trail the airmatic system and whilst I've seen reports online regarding the suspension change it would be helpful to note any inherent dangers. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Nothing wrong with the timeline. As long as she already had her documents ready, she could have booked an appointment for even the next day, and was good to go.

@ OP, congratulations again.

Yes, contemplating about applying for a visa could have meant that she already had her documents.Friday was there, and even days before. So I believe she got it.

Yes, it is possible that she was only contemplating applying on the 31st of January (thursday), and got her visa on the 4th of February (monday)...

All she would have done was book an appointment, and seeing they had availability today, taken the chance, and gone for the interview...

You see, it's not like the snorty uk embassy where you are left guessing for weeks. The US embassy tells you then and there after the interview whether or not you have been successful. If you are, you are asked to drop your passport, and expect in a few days. If not, you take your passport home. Simple!

So Congratulations to the OP.

Hi everybody,

I have noticed that there is no thread for a us visit/tourist visa. I wanted to know the average time it takes to get an appointment with the us embassy, and if decisions are made on the appointment day?

That's lagos, not just Lekki. I live waaaaaaay on the otherside of the world, from lekki-in Lagos though-and i've experienced worse, heck, i'm still experiencing! So, it's not really perculiar to Lekki; just do the right thing with the planning et al, and you'll be good.

Over here, plan all u want, your house is still going to get flooded, and your roads turned into mini oceans.

'nuff said.
Education / Re: Bsn- Otta Versus Unilag Versus Lbs Versus Others by efoshizzle: 12:32am On Jul 21, 2010
Well, i havent exactly got the experience, but i'm a masters student at the School of Media and Communications, also of the Pan African University-where you have LBS, i would take LBS any day, 'cos of the exposure and the pedigree. Trust me, LBS is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of Unilag MBA; more professional, highly recognized(it's the 53rd best business school in the world) and of course, with better job prospects, cos they've got partnerships with shell and other globally recognized multinationals. Its a tad expensive however, 3 million for full time and 3.8 mill for executive. sad, but it's definitely the best-if you can afford it.

good luck.
