MONEY IS NOT THE PROBLEM: a true life story. When i was around the age of 19 and 20, all my friends had girlfriends and i was the only one left out. my guys always made jest of me calling me all sort of names saying that i needed to upgrade. But i came to think about it that i wear better stuffs than these guys and i even make far better grades in school than most of them, so what could be my problem. Wandering in the wilderness of these thoughts i realized that the only thing which these guys probably do better than me is that they posses and spend more money than me. Even one of my so called friends advised me to go step up my level if i wanted to be happy like them insinuating that having a girlfriend is tantamount to being happy. You know what? I heeded to the veracity of my thought as a teenager that i was and i also heeded to my friend's advice. So i traveled out of my hometown during school holiday period and did all kinds of menial jobs and even physically demanding jobs. Having it in mind that after that period i would become above my friends' par and that i would even keep as many as three girlfriends so i could become happier than my friends. All these i naively thought. So after months of plenteous hard work, i returned to school a bigger boy than i left it. I became the talk of the town, every 'guy' wanted to roll with me. I felt very happy but to my greatest surprise, only those girls that used to identify with me before still do so, it was like the other girls did not send me. I was stunned but i concluded that maybe i had to approach them first. So i set out to approach a first girl, the beautiful Anne, she rejected me saying that i lacked confidence, I went after the ebony Princess (black beauty), Princess said she was taken, i swallowed the insult and then approached Opeyemi, she turned me down maintaining that i wasn't her type. I was growing increasingly frustrated so i went to Olamide who accepted me and we became friends. My friendship with Olamide started growing so fast as i was spoiling her with gifts and taking her to best attractions around the community. I was doing all these envisaging myself in that faithful day that i will take her to a secret place and kiss her cause that's how my satisfaction would come but alas Olamide had another thing in mind. The first day i had the opportunity to kiss her, she demanded the sum of 2000 from me before i could do that. I asked her why and she said that she needed to buy some underwear and i was like but "i love you and am ready to do anything for you" but she said that i should prove it by giving her the money. I became very annoyed and went back to my house. My relationship with Ola ended when it was not even up to 2 months old. To cut the long story short, I repeated that cycle till my final year at the university when i decided to forget about distractions and focus on myself and my career. This i did with optimum seriousness that at the time of my graduation i already had a small business that i started with my little savings. That made me to cruise around with confidence. Obviously i also became every ladies' type not because i had a lot of money to spend but because i loved myself first and i put my career first among other priorities. As i write this piece, am smiling back at my one and only sweet heart as she just told me that 'am the best thing to have happened to her': Isn't that great? we will get back to that. The moral lesson of this write up cuts across all walks of life. That money cannot be your problem if you can put yourself and your career first, do the first things first you will get whatever you want to get. I know that some people will be more interested in knowing who my wife is than taking the moral lesson of these story but please forget about that and have it at the back of your head today that MONEY IS NOT A HINDRANCE TO ACHIEVING YOUR DREAMS.Bye. |

OAM4J, pls help me i want to get the views of nairalanders on this subject matter. |
When i used to worship with a Pentecostal Church in my hood then as a teenager, my Pastor use to emphasize on the fact that those who pray with images other the image of Christ are idol worshipers and would go to hell fire. He used to support his premise with bible verses like exodus 20:4 read "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;". Fast forward to these days, some Christians now put their pastors' images freely in their houses, cars, offices, etc and some even go to the extent of pray in the name of their pastor or their pastors' God, while forgetting what the bible said in ex.20:5; 1 cor.8:4; etc. please can people in the house enlighten me on why and whether the bible support it or not. |
Ye tribalist that have hijacked this thread remember that the post mentioned other instances of killing unarmed people but you people are trying to make it seem like only IPOB are killed by Nigeria security forces on daily basis that it is now becoming a norm in the country. IPOB were killed, protesting students were killed, shiite muslims were killed, IDPs were killed, police kill citizens everyday, name them. A lot of blood is flowing and crying for justice. Our security forces are now like the proverbial cat the eat the mice it was kept to protect. But Nigeria tribalists and religious bigots are ok with it as far as their own was not affected. I hate the character of tribalists and religious bigots no matter the tribe or religion they identify with. |
killing of protesters is now a norm in Nigeria, this can only bring anarchy to the country. I hope ECOWAS will send troops here too. Jammeh has not killed his people like this but he is branded a dictator. Any where this government see nigerians gather in numbers either in I'D camps or protesting, the government either throw bomb or shoot live bullets. What is the plan? If it is not shiite Muslims, it is IDP camp or IPOB members. The only group they don't shoot at is FULANI HERDSMEN! Why shoot live ammunition on unarmed protesters? What happens to rubber bullets and teargas? For all those that have lost their voices now, that see nothing wrong in the killing of Nigerians protesting unarmed but had a voice in the last administration to criticize and call for the resignation of GEJ for as little as teargas canister that touched Magnus Abe, let your conscience judge you. It is IPOB, IDP and shiite Muslims today, no one knows who it would be tomorrow.. |
