I worked in a company where 80% where Yorubas and the rest we wither Igbos or from other tribes and in official meetings they speak Yoruba to themselves not minding that there are non-Yorubas who don't understand Yoruba in the meeting. It also happens in Igboland like you have alluded to and also in the north and everywhere. let's not make it seem like some people are more guilty of it.

berem: I might not agree with you.If you go to Lagos state secreteriat,Yoruba language is mainly spoken there.thats the norm.I once visited the ministry of Environment on an official visit and i was forced to speak Yoruba throughout my visit.Same applies to Southeastern states.I dont think its a bad idea speaking your native language in Civil Service.

Afam4eva: I think some other people will also have their experience of been retained in the east. And what do you mean by the south-east hostile environment. Can you elaborate? Are you referring to a particular place or have you experienced this in all the SE states?
