U borrowed 100k 50-50 apiece from ur parents.
U used 97k, remaining 3k
U paid 2k , 1 to mama, 1 to papa
Adding the remaining 1k which u kept to the 97k u were owing, u have 98k I.e u now owe 98k
Divide the 98k by 2, u'll have 49-49K...that means when u pay the 49k to both parties, u've paid off ur debt because u have initially given them 1k each...so 49+1=50

So, u're getting it wrong because u still think u're owing 97k which means u're still having 1k left to pay.

I don't know how I'm gonna explain this to u so u'll understand...
You're actually owing ur mom and dad 49.5k each. The 1k which u kept 4 urself was part of the 100k and u were suppose to share it with them. So keeping it 4 urself makes it ur own and no longer part of the 100k u borrowed initially so that means, the 1k which is deficit is(supposedly) the 1k which u didn't give to them.
