Blues Ready To Offload Nine In Clearance Sale

Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for up to six first-team players this summer, as owner Roman Abramovich looks to clear the clubs wage bill before installing a new manager.

Branislav Ivanovic, Paulo Ferreira, John Obi Mikel, Florent Malouda, Salomon Kalou and back up goalkeeper Ross Turnbull have all been told they can quit Stamford Bridge if a suitable offer arises, while £18 million summer signing Romelu Lukaku will be allowed to leave on loan, with talks already taking place about a return to former club Anderlecht.

On top of those told they can go, several players are also considering their future, including Didier Drogba, Jose Bosingwa and Yossi Benayoun, currently on loan with Arsenal, with all seeking guarantees of playing time next season.

It has been widely written that Chelsea’s squad is an old one.

That does not just apply to this season; it seems that every summer the likes of Frank Lampard, John Terry and Didier Drogba are to be replaced.

Still, this seems a more drastic change than usual.

Whilst Terry and Lampard look set to stay at Stamford Bridge forever, some fairly well established players look set to depart.

To be frank, it is not a huge surprise that Paulo Ferreira and Ross Turnbull are to be moved on, but Branislav Ivanovic, John Obi Mikel, Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou have all impressed at times for Chelsea – and feature relatively regularly for the Blues.

Of course, Florent Malouda is in the latter stages of his career, being the wrong side of thirty, but Ivanovic, Mikel and Kalou all seemingly have something to offer still despite their sometime fringe status at the club.

Indeed, Kalou scored the only goal in a surprise start for Chelsea away to Benfica in the UEFA Champions League quarter final on Tuesday evening.

If Didier Drogba, Jose Bosingwa and Yossi Benayoun all move on too, Chelsea could suddenly be left with a very thin squad.

Unless plenty of investment comes in to improve the side, hopes of improving on this season’s underwhelming campaign remain very much in the balance.

AutosLagos Mystery Gidi Traffic Tweeter Reveals Identity by eghost247(op): 3:33pm On Mar 30, 2012
The identity of the tweeter Gidi Traffic, who informs motorists in Nigeria's largest city Lagos of traffic jams, has been revealed to the BBC.

This has been a "a long-age mystery" since the Twitter account was set up last September, Gidi Traffic said.

"My name is Kaptin Idoko and I am Gidi Traffic," he told the BBC in New York.

He was nominated for, but did not win, the Life-Saving Hero award at this week's Shorties - regarded as the Oscars of the social media world.

"Making it all the way down to this ceremony was a big recognition for me," he told the BBC's Leslie Goffe afterwards.

"I'm the first African in this category so that is a great win already for me and the Gidi Traffic family of followers, Nigeria and Africa."

Mr Idoko said he set up the account to "ease stress" in one of Africa's most traffic-clogged cities.

"With traffic updates in real time, people can vary routes on traffic-clustered routes and avoid areas of unrest - saving people time, money, gas and helping people get to appointments on time."

The BBC's Fidelis Mbah in Lagos says there has been much discussion on social media about who is behind the Gidi Traffic Twitter account.

"@Gidi_Traffic. Good morning. I must commend your accuracy and consistency its amazing. But ur gender is shrouded in secrecy.☺pls tell," NOEMI tweeted in February.

On Tuesday, Annabelle Amoetuk tweeted: "So do we know if @Gidi_Traffic is a male or female yet? D suspense is too much!"

Our reporter says there has also been speculation that a whole team is behind the feed.

But Gidi Traffic said he was a one-man team, who does not get paid for what he does.

"A lot of people think Gidi Traffic is some computer programme yet it's actually just me," Mr Idoko said.

He says the live traffic updates work because he has a lot of followers on Twitter - more than 16,000 at the moment.

"They tweet whatever they see - traffic reports from all over the city - and I repost it," he said.

"I want people to know that you don't have to be an organisation before you can make an impact in the world - that just you as an individual can make a whole lot of difference in the world."

SportsManchester United Honours Adenuga by eghost247(op): 9:40am On Mar 30, 2012
The management of Manchester United has honoured the Chairman of Globacom Limited, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr. for his comprehensive contributions to the development of sports globally, especially the Glo-Manchester United relationship.

A delegation from the club presented a specially autographed branded Manchester United No.10 jersey and a framed, autographed soccer boot to Adenuga at a luncheon held at Eko Hotel on Wednesday.

The Associate Director, Communication and Relationship, Manchester United, Mr. Ricky Thussu at the occasion, described Adenuga as a sports patron worthy of emulation.

Thussu said that the partnership of the world’s most valuable football club with Globacom, one of the 10 biggest brands in Africa was mutually rewarding, complementary and valuable.

Globacom is the official telecoms partner of Manchester United in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic.

Executive Director of Globacom, Mr. Adewale Sangowawa, who received the gifts on behalf of Dr. Adenuga, thanked the club for the honour bestowed on their chairman, adding that the partnership between the two great brands would be strengthened.

He assured that Adenuga would continue to support the development of sports, particularly football in Africa.

“One of the reasons why Globacom is partnering with a world class football club like Manchester United is to leverage on the club’s achievements and successes to develop the game of football in Nigeria and Africa,” Sangowawa added.

“Arrangement is afoot to widen the scope of this aspect of the relationship. I can assure you that within the next couple of weeks, we shall announce some initiatives in football that will make our people proud.”

He thanked the Nigerian sporting fraternity for the tremendous support given to Globacom and urged them to continue to support the organisation, adding that this would encourage Globacom to do more.

FoodGirl, 19, Risks Health By Eating Nothing But Margherita Pizza For EIGHT YEARS by eghost247(op): 1:15pm On Mar 29, 2012
This is the 19-year-old girl who has eaten nothing but Margherita pizza for the past eight years.

Sophie Ray, from Wrexham, Wales, has not had a proper meal since she was two, and from the age of 11 she has subsisted solely on cheese and tomato pizza.

The teenager says she now gags if she touches anything but the takeaway meal, and even a slice of pepperoni is enough to turn her stomach.
Miss Ray suffers from a rare condition called Selective Eating Disorder (SED), which means she has a phobia of almost all foods, leaving her petrified to try new dishes.

Her problem began when she was struck down by a stomach bug, Gastroenteritis, at two years old.

Following the illness, Miss Ray began to fear food and could only face eating cheesy pasta, chips and lemon curd sandwiches.

By 11, she would eat only piping hot plain pizzas with no extra toppings - sometimes up to three a day.

The performing arts student said: 'I love pizza, each brand offers a new flavour, but it’s all the same food so I don’t have to try new foods.

I began selective eating when I was two. My mum said after I was ill, I became frightened to eat, I thought food had caused my illness.

'I began eating cheesy pasta or chips and then moved on to lemon curd sandwiches, which I ate every day for four years.

'I plucked up the courage to try pizza when I was 11 and I’ve eaten it every day since - sometimes I have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

'If I don’t have chance to eat pizza before I start college, I go all day without eating, because there’s nothing else I can eat, so I wait until I get home and have one or sometimes two pizzas.

It has to be cheese and tomato and it has to be cooked, I can’t eat it cold and I can’t have any toppings on it.'

Miss Ray has not touched a fruit or vegetable in years and says the thought of eating a varied meal terrifies her.

Very occasionally she will try some pasta and chips or a packet of cheese and onion crisps, but she is now so used to her junk food diet that even this slight variation in her diet makes her feel sick.

She said: 'The thought of trying other foods makes me very anxious, I feel sick and really clam up.

'The taste the texture even the smell of some foods can make me gag.

'A lot of people think I’m just a picky eater but SED is a phobia. Asking me to try new foods is like asking someone who hates spiders to hold one.

The more ingredients a food has in it the more terrifying I find it, a full English breakfast would be my worst nightmare, I feel really sick just looking at one.

Miss Ray visited a specialist two years ago who tried to encourage her to try new foods. But she said while this helped reduce some of the anxiety she felt about trying new foods, she is still unable to add variety to her diet.

'My favourite pizza is Pizza Express but I also like Dominos and supermarket pizzas, I eat all brands of pizza as long as it’s cheese and tomato.

'I can have a pizza from ASDA and it will taste really cheesy and then have one from Pizza Express which has more flavour from the tomatoes.

'But if a pizza had any other ingredient on it, I wouldn’t be able to eat it. I wouldn’t even be able to pick it off.

'Selective eating disorder makes me feel quite low, I get depressed at times and going out for meals with family or friends is a nightmare, so I often don’t go.

PIZZA (FACT) BOX: HEALTH RISKS OF EATING MOSTLY MARGHARITAS

Miss Ray's all-pizza diet could cause her serious health problems in the long-run, nutritionists say.

Chris Cheyette, senior dietican at Kings College Hospital said: 'She's missing out on a variety of nutrients - one concern is the type of fat she's getting is going to be quite high in saturated fat, as this can make half up of the fat in a pizza.

'Her diet does not contain enough vitamins and could shorten her lifespan, giving her a higher risk of health problems such as a heart disease or a stroke.'

Nutritionist Carina Norris warned that eating only pizza could lead to deficiencies that could hamper the immune system, showing in the hair and skin and causing weight gain.

She said the cheese on a pizza is high in salt and fat quantities, and this diet lacks the compounds we get from fruit and vegetables.

'I know my diet isn’t doing my health any good and I’d really love to eat normally but it’s really hard to change my diet after eating like this for so long.'

Nutritionist Carina Norris said: 'This is by no means a balanced diet, she's going to missing out on a lot of vitamins and minerals.

'Her health care team is going to have to work with her to gradually introduce different food into her diet. This is definitely a problem, not just a fad.

'She could start with different toppings on pizzas. She needs to start as soon as possible, however, because what you eat when you are young has huge effect on your health in later life.'

A spokesman from eating disorder charity BEAT said: 'Selective eating disorder when someone focuses on one particular type of food, usually high-fat or carbohydrate, is generally a sign that there are deep emotional issues at work and they may feel their world is not in control.

'These issues must be addressed in order to overcome the illness.

'In the past selective eaters were generally thought to be young boys who survived on food like chips and sandwiches alone but recent research shows more adults seeking help for this illness.

'It can be very isolating with the individual not wishing to engage in social situations where food is involved.

'Research also shows that often people are genetically hard-wired in a way that makes them vulnerable to developing an eating disorder along with the various societal and cultural factors that can trigger their development.'

Justin Bieber is a reckless, no good prankster -- this according to 2 people in Texas, who are now threatening legal action against the pop star ... claiming Bieber coaxed millions of people into harassing them over the phone.

In case you're not one of Bieber's nearly 19 MILLION followers -- the singer randomly Tweeted a phone number earlier this month with the caption, "Call me right now." But the number was missing the final digit ... leading hordes of teen girls to guess what it might be. The tweet was later deleted, but the damage was done.

As a result, two people in Texas -- an older woman named Dilcie and a man named Kent -- claim their phones have been ringing off the hook non-stop ... and now, they've lawyered up to force Bieber to pay for his actions.

The lawyer tells TMZ, her clients’ patience “wears thin” after receiving over 1,000 phone calls at all hours of the day -- and they want compensation for all the problems Justin caused with his “reckless” behavior.

Suggestions from the legal team include: concert tickets for Ms. Fleming’s grandchildren, a Bieber apology, an endorsement for Kent’s upcoming online project ... and lastly ... money for any out of pocket expenses.

According to the lawyer, Justin better play ball ... or else.

RomanceFemale craddle-robber 47 Year Old Having intimacy with 15year old by eghost247(op): 3:48pm On Mar 27, 2012
A married woman has been jailed for having sex in her Jeep with a 15-year-old schoolboy after flashing her breasts on the internet.

Susan Millman, 47, used a webcam to try and entice other teenage boys by promising them sex in video shows online.

Millman, from Grimsby, whose husband runs a coach company was jailed for 18 months after admitting two offences of causing the teenage boy to engage in sex with her in her Jeep.

Grimsby Crown Court also banned her from working with children for life and ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Photographs of her appeared on a social networking site and were viewed by teenagers. Police became aware when an adult was informed and the victim was interviewed.

Prosecuting barrister James Byatt said Millman's initial contact with the youth was on Facebook and was of a friendly nature prior to the two offences between September and November 2010 and January and March 2011.

He said: 'She took a caring attitude and he confided in her. He felt he could unburden himself and they had hugs. After rows with his mother he felt he could go to confide in her.

'The nature of the communication changed and it became more sexual. She would comment on his good looks.
