Politics / Re: Nigeria To Resume Gas Supply To Ghana by egregous: 9:23am On Apr 16, 2013
Conquistador: the 100MMcf gas supplied 2 ghana can only generate 200MW of power.only d volumes in LNG can help
1,236 Bilion cf/year (= 3386MMcf/day) is liquefied by Nigeria LNG Ltd at Bonny Island.
100MMcf/day gas to ghana is a drop.

Gas, fuel to power plants is stolen as a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for Europe and Asian consumers.
International stakeholders accounted $60 billion dollars revenue, gained over $23billion dividend and paid only $180milions taxes what is 0,6% of their incomes.
So, Nigeria is tax heaven !!!!!!!!!
Let's read this article carefully http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/nigeria-lng-spends-15billion-on-feed-gas/142534/

"Bonny Island plant in Rivers State was producing about 23 million tonnes of LNG yearly." 23 million tonnes [MMt]of LNG is equivalent to 974184 milions cubic feet by any calculator. http://www.natgas.info/html/natgasunitscalculator.html

All Nigerian plants (working and planed for 16 000MW power) need about 1000 [MMcf/d] millions cubic feet per day (source:http://nigeriapowerreform.org/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&task=download&id=83%3Auyo-summit-feb-24-25-2012-ptfp-fuel-to-power&Itemid=82)
What is 365 000 [MMcf] per year, three time less then is produced now as a Liquefied Natural Gas.

Energy Generation 99,127 MWH is a amount of total energy generated during a day (24 hours).
99,127MWH /24H = 4130MW average power generation. It's more reliable indicator than peak generation.

earthrealm: clowns!!!.intercepted by what?!!..a mi wetin?

choi..a meteor travels at speeds in excess of 60km/sec.the space shuttle which is abt the fastest rocket engine invented by humans travels at abt 11km/sec.....earths escape velocity hovers around 11-12km/sec...so even if the soviets hv a rocket capable of 25km/secs...intercepting and shooting down the meteor wud hv been near impossible............even if it was been tracked from space. the chances of succesfully tracking and taking it out are quite dim

It can be intercepted by laser.

Politics / Re: Largest NIPP Power Plant To Be Launched In March by egregous: 7:50pm On Feb 11, 2013
Mr. Akinola said to be able to inaugurate the facility within the first quarter of the year gas would have to be sourced from United Cement Company, UNICEM, in Calabar.

Is it Gas to Power or Cement to Power?

berem: If the biggest NIPP power plant can produce 563 megawatts, how many will the smallest NIPP plant produce? anyone with calculator please! grin

This is the biggest NIPP power plant by waste category. Alaoji Power Station with 4 gas turbines will has 1074 MW capacity, when Calabar has 5 turbines with only 553MW capacity.

I had the same questions. Informations given in medias often are ridiculous. Yesterday I read in Business Day and Nigeria Observer that China company who operates Omotosho Plant claims it will complete the 500 mega watts by February. However Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited says that Omotosho II plant is ready http://www.nidelpower.com/main/omotosho..... By different sources I know its not 500 megawatts but 450 because GE 125MW turbines in tropical environment must be adjust to 112,5 MW.

taharqa: LOL @Rainy or dry season. People without a clue hw the power syste work.. This same S.O website shown that power was 4530MW (highest eva generatd in d nations history) at one time late December and stayd bw d 4200-4500MW range bw December and January, in fact peak power on Friday was almost 4200MW- rain was falling heavingly Late Dec-Late January, abi? Any person with a rudimentary knowledge of power transmissn wud know that there are daily average variatns (up and down- today's wud be diff from yterday that is reportd here) cos of many factors either to do with Transmissn system variation, Generatn Units variatn, Gas supply issues etc. It is possible that this momentary decrease yterday to 3700MW was due to many things including d time lag it wud take for sm of d units in those Power stations shut down in d Southeast dis weekend for the Benin-Onitsha Line installatn, to come back to full operatns Or oda combinatn of factors- IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DRY SEASON..... By d way, d good tin about dis thread is dat ppl can now check daily power generatd and sent to d grid on dis S.O website link themselves; when it goes beyond 5000MW as it is likely to do soon and dis link reports it, hope nobody wud doubt it then...

S.O. website (http://nigeriasystemoperator.org/) is not actualized since November 2012. Only date is actualized automatically.
Actual power generation report actualized every day (with some exceptions grin) is on Nigeria power reform web page: http://www.nigeriapowerreform.org/
