moreover, this would be a case of hypocrisy to the maximum.just last month when the Lebanese president,Michel Suleiman, visited Nigeria, the Lebanese agriculture minister Hussein Haj Hassan (a member of Hezbollah),accompanied him.he was one of the accompany members of the president's entourage.why didn't Nigeria arrest him?

Security operatives know much about Hezbollah from TV grin
In the first picture are Hezbollah fighters.
In the second are lebanon members of Fatah al Islam idenifites with Al Qaeda.

Secondly why a mere 700MW dam? Why not buy 2 or 3 turbines so that the dam can at least generate 1400MW or 2100MW ,this donkey is a big Joke.In South Africa the minimum power generating plant they build generates at least 4800MW but in Nigeria odenathan builds a 700MW dam.FRESH AIR bunch of morons!

Politics / Re: 10,000 Megawatts To Be Generated By Dec – FG by egregous: 8:22pm On May 25, 2013
24 May 2013, Abuja – Minister of State for Power, Hajia Zainab Kuchi, has made a u-turn on her declaration before a committee of the Senate earlier this week that the nation would achieve 10,000 megawatts, mw, in power generation by December this year.

The minister said she was misquoted and that the 10,000mw target would only be feasible by 2014.

Disassociating herself from the alleged declaration at the Senate, Kuchi told journalists in Abuja: “With the processes that we have put in place, the statistics available to us, and the efforts at reforming the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, we will achieve 10,000mw by December next year.
Though we are generating up to 7000mw of electricity currently, we are only able to wheel 4000mw because of our poor transmission network.

“By 2014, we will be able to wheel 10,000mw, by which time the National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, plants would have come on stream.”

She maintained that the privatisation programme for the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, was on course and that the PHCN power plants would be handed over to the new owners by July, as government was currently sorting out pending severance packages of electricity workers.

The minister added: “The claim that the Minister of State for Power said the generation and distribution companies that were bided for last year could not be handed over to successful bidders because the companies were currently not in good shape is also not accurate.

“In fact, at a recent Presidential Power Signing Summit, several agreements on vesting contracts and gas supply agreements were signed with preferred bidders.

“The preferred bidders, who were fully aware of the status of the companies, expressed total confidence in the privatisation programme and were particularly eager to take over the companies having paid the initial 25 per cent of the bid price.

“So, the statement made by me was that government intends to conclude the fulfillment of the terms of agreement reached with Labour before the handing over to the preferred bides, with a handover timeline of July ending.”

We are already generating 20000 megawatts already the challenge is that the existing transmission infrastructure cant transmit the 20000 megawatts already generated.see attached link.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_production

Donaeo: That is not what we are generating, that stuff is in Gw/Hr, How can you say Us is generating 4.3 million GW/Hr,Nigeria's installed generating capacity is about 6000MW
Also not, That is Gwh per year what mean amount of total electricity produced in one year.
If you like some maths,
20000 Gwh per year /365 days per year /24 hours per day = 2,283GWh per hour = 2283MW avarage power generating output.

Pets / Re: Why Do Nigerians Hate Pet Especially Dogs? by egregous: 2:40pm On May 24, 2013
The Igbo people believe that Chukwu sent a dog to mankind to tell them that dead bodies should be covered with ashes and buried. This would bring the person back to life. On his long journey to earth the dog became wary and elongated to journey. So, Chukwu then sent a sheep to deliver the message faster, but the silly sheep forgot part of the message. The sheep only told the people of Earth that bodies should be buried. Because of this, the human bodies remained dead. When the dog finally arrived, nobody believed his story and thus death became permanent.

http://premiumtimesng.com/business/131917-nigerias-gas-supply-attains-new-daily-peak-of-1-5mn-cubic-feet-says-alison-madueke.html

Mrs. Alison-Madueke, represented by the Group Executive Director, Gas and Power of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, David Ige, said that over the last three years, the gas sector has experienced aggressive radical reforms, culminating in major gas addition to the domestic market.

She said that the current demand by the National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, is put at about 260mmcf/d in the Western Area, pointing out that this is expected to grow to about 340mmcf/d by the year end.

How Minister of State for Power, Hajia Zainab Kuchi can achieve 10,000 MW by December, when aggressive radical Mrs. Alison-Madueke provides only 340mmcf/d gas? undecided
I really know, 340mmcf/d is enough to ensure 1,400 MW power, no more.

jp philips:

i quote

" Optimize domestic gas supplies,
especially for power generation and
industrial development"

this part is the most laughable. how i wish you read further to appreciate madueke's ingenuity.
Madueke told Nigerians that her gas solution is a DSO from MNC's.

rightly put, madueke wants to go begging for gas from multinational companies.
no doubt the PIB outlined modalities of expansion for NGC (Nigerian gas company),
my question is this; what has Ngc achieved for over a decade of operation?

Mr jarus, we know the real beneficiaries of the PIB the Nigerian people are far from it.

back to the issue of gas, in the last decade, SHELL our minority jv partner has been investing heavily in gas gathering projects, Chevron (another minority jv partner) has not relented because the last time i checked their EGTL project has a gotten to phase 3b.

every sane mind knows that gas is the future from increasing gas prices to local demand viz power plants, madueke's PIB is still solving Nigeria's gas crises with her archaic DSO.

jarus please help me ask madueke to mention any sane country with gas deposit as much as Nigeria that is practicing her DSO model?

I recommend article about DSO written by Theresa Okenabirhie in 2010. It's very prophetic. undecided

Nigerians Jihadists their Arab masters

These are not just pictures of simple religious ceremonies, these are pictures of organised paramilitary forces, yet another arsenal of human ignorance at the disposal of Arab Islamists for their global ambitions. This is how small terror groups become terror movements.

I'm not surprised that a Nigerian is involved....people should wake the fck up or get ready to serve under the new worldwide caliphate

These ones on the picture worshiping Iranian masters. (Shia islam) All Boko haram members are Sunni, not shia.

Politics / Re: Understanding The PIB (Petroleum Industry Bill) by egregous: 1:37pm On May 21, 2013
Jarus: WHAT DOES PIB SEEK TO ACHIEVE?

The Bill seeks to:
• Enhance exploitation and exploration of petroleum resources in Nigeria for the benefit of Nigerians
• Optimize domestic gas supplies, especially for power generation and industrial development
• Encourage investment in Nigerian petroleum industry
KEY IMPLICATIONS/OBJECTIVES TO NOTE FROM THE ABOVE

• Gas is still in Nigeria and the potential from this source of energy lays untapped. PIB seeks to maximize this. If well explored, this will boost power supply in Nigeria

Those are some wonderful ideas, but are there any details how will it be achieved? I still feel like a dumb angry

Cameroon .... , there must be BH refuge and training camp.

2. Full military deployment to Borno State to man the borders and coordinate search and eliminate missions into the bordering territories of Chad, Niger and Cameroon, this in concert with Nigeria's neighbors.
Impossible.

And they are right, by Canadian sources
100MMcf/d gas supply should generate 424MW in simple cycle (35% efficiency)
and 668MW in combined cycle (55% efficiency)

It means, Nigeria sells to the world gas available for generate 22000 MW power and can't provide sufficient amount of gas for herself.
