This may sound eerie and incredulous, but it is real. Mr. Samuel Okem had in 2013 secured a job as a security guard in the popular St. Gerald Catholic Hospital in Kakuri, Kaduna State to make ends meet but a series of strange occurrences at the hospital forced him to quit barely one year
after.

Before he was engaged by the hospital, Okem, who hails from Ogoja in Cross River State, had for years engaged in one menial job or the other after his elder sister brought him to Kaduna in 2005. He at first began work at a security company as a guard. He quit the job in 2006 and engaged in other menial jobs before he secured appointment with the Catholic hospital.

Okem was posted to the mortuary section of the hospital to work as security guard by the hospital’s management. But his joy and dream of having a means to eke out a living and also fend for his family were soon cut short by the series of strange experiences that followed his being deployed to the mortuary
section.

When he broke the news of his new appointment to his sister, Okem said she objected to it, warning him that he might not find it comfortable to engage in such a delicate job meant for older people, who must be equally willing to patronise ‘spiritualists’ for protection and to ward off the consequences of working in such an environment.

According to him, when he told his sister about his new job at the hospital mortuary, she sternly warned him, saying, “I did not bring you to Kaduna to work in the mortuary. If anything happens to you, I will not be held responsible because there are other meaningful jobs around which you can engage yourself in.”

Shortly after Okem resumed duty at the hospital mortuary, things took a different dimension at his duty post. He claimed that sometimes he would feel some strange current course through his system with his head ‘swollen’.

He also noticed, after a short while, that the mortuary attendants would always knock three times on the door of the facility before opening and going inside to either deposit a new corpse or bring out an old one for preparations for
burial.

Okem also claimed that he noticed that some conversation drills usually took place among the dead bodies inside the mortuary, which, at first, he could not comprehend.

He said his investigations of the strange voices later revealed that the corpses usually interacted with one another whenever the mortuary doors were not opened. Okem said part of their conversation drills he eavesdropped on included questions on the circumstances surrounding their demise.

“What was responsible for your death? Where did you hail from? Who and who did you leave behind? These were part of the questions I would usually hear them asking one another,” he
said.

Okem, however, had to hurriedly quit his job at the hospital mortuary in 2014, barely a year after he secured the appointment as a security guard.

Amid the call to end the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a Magistrate's Court in Ile-Ife, Osun State, ordered that a 36-year-old man, Adegoke Adekanmi, be remanded in prison for slapping two policemen.
The verdict against the accused who was arraigned on a five-count charge of felony, obstruction, assault, slapping and kidnapping, was given on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

A nun broke a young girl’s arm as she reacted to discovering the child was being sexually abused by a priest, an inquiry has heard.

A witness told how she had hoped she would be protected when the nun walked in on the assault in 1970, when she was eight, but was instead called a ‘LovePeddler’, grabbed and thrown towards a wall.

Theresa Tolmie-McGrane said she was then given a ‘real hiding’ by another nun and threatened with having her other arm broken if she told anybody what had happened.

Ms Tolmie-McGrane waived her right to anonymity at the Scottish child abuse inquiry to recount a catalogue of other abuses during her 11 years at Smyllum Park orphanage in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, which closed in the 1980s.

These included beatings, humiliations, freezing showers and children being force-fed inedible food, being told to eat their vomit and having their mouths rinsed out with soap.

The witness told the hearing in Edinburgh how she arrived at the institution, run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, at the age of six in 1968 after an abusive early childhood.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday opened the foreign exchange market with the injection of another 210 million dollars to sustain liquidity.

The Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr Isaac Okorafor in a statement, said 100 million dollars was offered to the wholesale segment, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) segment got an allocation of 55 million dollars.

He said that the invisible segment such as tuition fees, medical payments and Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) were also allocated 55 million dollars.

Okorafor said that the releases were part of efforts aimed at further enhancing ease of doing business in Nigeria.

On market conduct, Okorafor enjoined authorised dealers to abide by the extant rules of the Forex market as CBN would continue to intensify monitoring of the market.

Meanwhile, the naira is loosing its steady stand against major currencies.

Another batch of 150 Nigerians have returned to Nigeria from the crisis-ridden Libya after they had undergone severe torture in the North African country.

360nobs had earlier reported that 242 Nigerian migrants – who were stranded in Libya – landed at Lagos airport on a Libyan airline flight at around 9pm local time on Tuesday.

However, the latest returnees arrived the shores of Nigeria 10:10 pm on Thursday night through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) aboard a chartered Boeing 737-800 aircraft with the registration number 6A-DMG.

The returnees comprised 13 female adults and one teenage girl while the male adults were 133 with two teenage boys and a toddler.

It is understood that their return was facilitated by the Federal Government and the International Organization for Migration, IOM, and funded by the European Union project.

On ground to welcome the returnees back home were officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)  as well as officers of the Nigerian Police.

A local man attacked a primary school in the Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area of Borno State and hacked two pupils to death with a machete on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

The man, identified as Gaji Adamu, entered Jafi Primary School, Kwaya Kusar town around 9:30am and carried out the attack that claimed the lives of the pupils, both boys aged about five and seven.

The attack also left a school teacher, identified as Ms Salamatu, and an eight-year-old schoolgirl with injuries.

According to a report by AFP, the teacher managed to raise the alarm after she was struck in the hands and the attacker was overpowered.

The state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Victor Isuku, confirmed the attack in Maiduguri later on Thursday and disclosed that the attacker was in custody under armed guard in a hospital after he was beaten by the mob that caught him. When I got home, they told me that Azu had called to tell them that the pregnancy Adaeze was carrying belonged to him and that he would pay me any amount to let go of my wife for him.

I was shocked at the manner the elders told me and their insistence that I forget about my wife as Azu was ready to get married to her.

I was dumbfounded and could not say anything but when I got back to Lagos, I asked Adaeze if what they told me was the truth and she confirmed that Azu was responsible for her pregnancy.

Now, he has made plans to get her to travel to Malaysia to be with him. As we speak, she has left my house and has been staying with her sister while waiting for her papers to be ready for her to leave.

An 11-year-old cultist who rose to become a vicious killer has been given another chance after Pastor Tony Rapu, the founder of This Present House rescued him and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
The young cultist, identified only as Shanawole, claimed to belong to the Eiye Confraternity, in a video posted by the media team of This Present House, revealed how he was given the task of killing their victims, saying it was his job to kill anybody who messed with him or his group without any remorse.

3 boys aged between 19 and 20 have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for raping a 14-year old secondary school students simply identified as Precious

Names of the suspects were given as Osabuohien Aghimien, Osamudiamen Stephen and Victory Osayomwan. The suspected who were paraded at the headquarters of NSCDC were said to have had two rounds of sex each with the victim.

They were arrested by family of the victim the following day. Narrating their involvement in the saga, Osabuohien who claimed to be a mechanic apprentice said the victim was his girlfriend and that he took her to the house of his friend to pass the night.
Osabuohien stated that it was at night that his friends asked to sleep with the victim and she obliged them. His words, “I was there when they have sex with her. When my friend said he want to go in again, she agreed.

The Imo State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old boy identified as Bobo John for allegedly killing a 24-year-old man, Stanley Eluwa, and burying him in a shallow grave in a forest in Awara community of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state.

Eastern Heartland reports that John who was arrested following a tip-off has already led police operatives to the Igwebuike Forest where he and four members of his cult gang killed and buried the victim, where the remains were exhumed.

While confessing to the crime, John allegedly blamed his predicament on the fact that he was a product of a dysfunctional home where he grew up to become irresponsible.

The suspect reportedly told the police that he and his gang had lured the victim, a commercial motorcycle rider popularly called Okadaman, to the forest and killed him with a rod after snatching his motorcycle.

“We were three, Davido, Stone and I. We asked him [ the victim], to take us to the place ][forest]. It was Davido who hit him with the rod and when he died, we buried him there.

A woman has been jailed after she pretended to be a man to get teenage girls to perform sex acts for her via webcam.

Inspired by MTV’s Catfish, Emily Timms set up a profile on instagram to deceive the teenagers into sending intimate pictures to her. Using the name Joey Knight, she arranged to meet up with her victims but never actually showed up.
