Driving short distance does no good to modern cars. From cold start, your engine ECM is in open loop, the ECT sensors and AF sensors informs your ECM of this which then the ECM commands the injectors to pour in more fuel into the combustion chambers to quickly bring your engine to operating optimal temperature and once this threshold is reached, the ECM goes into closed loop thus making your car operate at the best power and economy it can provide safely.

Since you drive short distances, your car will keep taking more fuel. I'd also advise you perform some tune ups to help.

Yes, I used spacers and it didn't work. Is yours es350? Was there any code before they stole the cat? What code do you get now?

Mine is es350 2008...there was no code until the stupid Painter stole the bank1 catalyst. I have arrested him and he said he will pay end of February. So I was considering spacers before then.

I have similar problem as my bank 1 cat was stolen. I am considering O2 spacers if it will work.

I get 15mpg or less in my 2010 es350 but I noticed that what greatly affect it is my driving style and driving terrain. If I drive short distances in a bad road, it gets as bad as 11mpg. If I drive long distances in a good road, it gets up to 22mpg. Not sure what causes this. My catalyst has been removed, not sure if it is the cause, though I strongly believe that the cat is not the cause and that it is normal, but since I have not been able to clear cat and o2 sensor related codes since the removal, I am considering putting it back

1st run a live scan on the sensor and confirm it has voltage reading on it and it's also reading the amount of oxygen in the exhaust while car is running.
2nd use your multimeter to read the ohms on the sensor and compare values with manufactures specs.

I will have to find a mech to do this as I only have the Bluetooth OBDll scanner. Thanks so much

Good day gurus.
I took my lexus es350 for paint job and small exhaust leakage work. I was with him the day he worked on the exhaust but the day he did the painting I wasn't there. Only for me to take my car back, drove for some miles and error popped out of the cluster display. I scanned and it's saying P0420 catalytic converter system, bank 1 inefficiency below threshold. He swore he didn't take my catalyst when I asked him so he opened the exhaust gasket which houses the catalyst under the car and the it's intact.

So I don't know why the car is still throwing up that code after clearing and driving for some miles

Fans are working when I unplug from the sensor and when AC is on

Why does my car overheat when AC is off. It doesn't overheat when AC is on. the car is es350 2008 model.

Hello... I can see you are doing some marvelous work here.

What can 600k get me? I will like to use it on:
1. 150w TV and 80w TV ( most likely won't be on simultaneously)

You can test the thermostat yourself at home.
Take it out from the car and submerge it in a pot of water. Put the put on fire and measure the temperature as it boils and observe at what temperature the thermostat opens.
Compare readings with manufactures specifications and replace if faulty.

Most likely a coolant temperature sensor working abnormally or your thermostat not opening on time.
Remote diagnosis would be difficult as you would need a live scan amongst other diagnosis approach for proper diagnosis.

Sadly I'm far away in Enugu. I think it's the thermostat not opening on time and the mech advised I remove it entirely which I refused. I will have to search for another mech. Thanks for your assistance
