PoliticsRe: Baseless Lies About Property In Igboland by Ejanla07: 12:36pm On Jun 21, 2017
EmekaMD:
Baseless lie about property in Igboland

By Azuka Onwuka

There is a baseless lie many Northerners and Southwesterners have repeated for long that they now believe it to be true, and they have continued to pass it on to their children. That blatant lie is that the reason they don't have much property or businesses in Igboland like the Igbos have in other parts of the country is because Igbos don't sell property to them or rent shops to them.

The Arewa Youths repeated that lie in their letter to the Acting President thus:

"And since the Igbo have virtually infiltrated every nook and cranny of Northern Nigeria where they have been received with open arms as fellow compatriots, we strongly believe that the region is no longer safe and secure in the light of the unfolding threats and the fact that for a long time, the Igbo have gone to extra ordinary lengths to ensure that in their domain in the South East, Northerners and Westerners are as much as possible disenfranchised from owning any businesses whereas in Kano alone, they own not less than 100,000 shops across all the business districts."

I have thrown a challenge many times on this but nobody took up my challenge. I made myself available to help anybody buy property in Nnewi and give that person a signed promise that nothing will ever happen to that property and also make my children take over that pledge when I am gone. Mind you, a storey building sells for as much as N200 million in some parts of Nnewi. So don't think it is some place where nobody wants to buy from.

The simple question to ask those who make this baseless claim is, if Igbos don't sell property to them, don't Edos, Efiks, Ijaws, Ur hobos, etc in the South-South sell to them too? How many lands and shops do Northerners and Westerners own in Calabar or Benin or Uyo or Warri, etc?

How much property and stationary businesses do Northerners own in the Southwest outside Lagos (former capital)?

How much property and businesses do Yorubas own in the North outside Abuja?

So what is the reason for that?

I have urged some Hausas and Yorubas in Nnewi to buy property but some of them smiled knowingly and kept quiet, while some told me plainly that they can't take such a risk with the way things are in Nigeria.

The problem is simply fear of the unknown. Most Nigerians - minus the Igbos - have this fear that there will still be trouble in future. So they go into any state outside their region with a bag to do their business and leave when they are done. Many don't even go with their wife and children for fear of the unknown. They believe that it is only the former FCT (Lagos) or present FCT (Abuja) that is less risky to invest in.

Most people don't understand what drives Igbos in their business and investment decisions. Igbos don't buy property in other parts of Nigeria because of any special treatment given to them by their hosts. They buy property in spite of all that goes with property and the risk involved. They lose their money to fraudsters and omonile regularly in the Southwest. They lose their property to government demolition of property. Yet they invest in property because they see property as a profitable investment, and they hate to continue to be tenants forever. An Igbo man wants to be his own master (landlord) as quickly as possible.

Igbos have lost their property and businesses to burning, destruction and looting repeatedly in riots in the North. They have even been killed repeatedly. Yet they return to rebuild.

A few years after the abandoned property saga in Port Harcourt, Igbos returned to Port Harcourt and began buying property again like crazy. Even when they are warned of the possibility of a repeat of 1970, they still go ahead to invest in property.

Obasanjo has had some land in Enugu since the 1970s when he was head of state. He has not developed the land till today. Buhari said in his asset declaration that he has some land in Port Harcourt (probably given to him free of charge). He doesn't even know where the land is, not to talk of developing it. Yet these are heads of state who fought for the unity of this nation and are always talking about one Nigeria and need to believe in Nigeria. Yet they don't even have faith in investing outside their regions or FCT.

Igbos believe that crisis and loss will not make one not to make an investment decision. Their thinking is: "What if I don't invest and nothing happens eventually to the businesses or property around? Will I bring back the hand of the clock? But even if I invest and it is lost, life goes on. Life is a risk."

It sounds like a crazy way to think but that is how they are. No other Nigerian ethnic group thinks like this. That is why some people who don't travel assume that the reason Igbos live in large numbers in other ethnic groups and even return to places where they are killed is because Igboland is not developed. Even if you have never travelled to Igboland, please Google the CBN report of the six states that control 90% cash transactions in Nigeria.

The simple reality is that Igbos are wierd risk takers when it comes to business and investment. Other ethnic groups don't have such a trait. People are different.

The reason we do these intermittent interventions is to ensure that things are put in their right perspective, for those who care for the truth; for it was such falsehood that was spread in 1966 and used as a justification for the genocide against the Igbos that year.

Shops are available in Igboland, if you have the money and have the thick skin to compete. Land is available for purchase in all parts of Igboland, if you have the money. Igbos are business-oriented. They sell or rent their property to the highest bidder. And once the transaction is done, it is done. No stories.

Just keeping the record straight.
op u rr so funny. u come across as a unity beggar...

PoliticsRe: Buhari Suffers Speech Impairment In London, Cabal Caused Igbo Quit Notice - SR by Ejanla07: 7:18pm On Jun 20, 2017
CROWNWEALTH019:
President Muhammad Buhari, who left Nigeria 45 days ago to resume treatment for an undisclosed medical condition believed to be cancer, has developed speech difficulties, presidency sources said today.
Previously, Mr. Buhari was also said to be suffering memory lapses. The latest revelation stems from recent attempts to return the President to Nigeria by members of a cabal managing his health and using it to deceive Nigerians.
Several of President Buhari’s aides who traveled with him are reportedly not in touch with him, reports say, while others were ordered to return to Nigeria, with nobody having any certainty about the prospects of Mr. Buhari’s date of return.
During his last trip Saharareporters revealed that his London doctors rejected the idea of his returning to work. They asked that he remained in London for four months to see how best they could treat his illness. Nonetheless, the cabal managing the president brought him back to enable him to undertake a number of acts including military postings and appointments that would have been impossible with an acting President on seat.
At that time, Buhari revealed he had been very ill and had received blood transfusion, and indicated he would soon return to the UK for further treatment. During the period he was in Nigeria, he was rarely seen outside, but managed to attend a few Federal Executive Council meetings which he left as soon as the photo opportunities were done with. Two weeks after that return, his condition deteriorated and doctors had to be flown in from the UK to embark on treatment, but that phase lasted only for a few weeks.
The president then stopped attending the weekly FEC altogether, but to maintain the ruse that he was healthy, members of the cabal would shepherd him to the mosque on Fridays hoping to generate sentiments within the core Muslim north where a rumor had circulated that the president had been “poisoned”.
Buhari eventually left for the UK abruptly on the evening of May 7, shortly after meeting with some Chibok girls who had been released the previous day by Boko Haram. Although Buhari spoke at the event, his voice was barely audible, as he had lost a lot of weight, his condition reportedly complicated by Crohn’s Disease.
When the President was leaving for the airport, he shocked his aides when he asked if they were going to Sokoto, perhaps one of the first signs of his deteriorating memory.
It has now been learnt that President Buhari has not spoken to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo by telephone since his departure. Only last week, the Acting President was asked to await a phone call from Mr. Buhari but when a call eventually came in, nothing coherent was heard from Mr. Buhari, despite the cabal having kept telling people of his “tremendous” improvement.
The cabal is also reportedly behind the rumors of a possible coup by some military officers a couple of weeks ago, as well as the recent quit notice by some Northern youths to the Igbos in that area, which they figured would make western countries view such an attempt with understanding if they thought the action would protect Nigeria as an indivisible entity.

There's no time to go about hating anyone. I am not tribalistic especially growing up in warri where pidgin and English dominates, (because ljaw, itsekiri and urhobo are natives to the land, thus no language truly dominates), and l grew up living freely amongst igbos, yorubas, Hausa mallams( Abokis) etc. l began to really know about this tribalism stuff when l started traveling away from warri to places like Anambra and Lagos.
You can just sit down thinking everyone hates you and you love everyone, which is a waste of time. If for the sake of arguement l play along with your victim mentality and persecution complex, then the question is.... Do you love others??

PoliticsRe: Affordable Power: The South Needs The North More Than It Thinks by Ejanla07:
[s]
rodeo0070:
Some politicians calling for the implementation of the recommendation of the 2014 National Conference might not actually be clamoring for some of conference’s recommendations such as the creation of 18 more states, asking churches and mosques to pay taxes and that all members of the legislative arm should serve on a part-time basis.

They could have their eyes on the conference recommendation which talks about resource control – probably the local control of massive reserves of oil and gas in the south. Unfortunately, no single source of energy can guarantee energy security and prosperity.
The surest route to economic prosperity is through manufacturing, which is powered by energy. China is a good example of a country which has taken this route.

With the abundant sunlight in northern Nigeria and the recent power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed with solar energy providers, Nigeria seems to be expanding its energy mix.

Northern Nigeria has a great role to play in guaranteeing Nigeria’s energy security. Nigeria receives an average radiation of 7 kWh/m2 per day in the far north and about 3.5 kWh/m2 in the coastal latitudes. Interestingly, there are also large expanse of lands in northern Nigeria to lay massive lengths of solar panels. It is not surprising that private capital is coming into the north for the construction of solar power plants.

With the signing of a number of PPAs with solar energy firms, states like Katsina, Kaduna, Sokoto and Bauchi could add over 1000 megawatts (MW) of power to the national grid, a third of Nigeria’s current generation, in the coming months and years.

And with the right policies, these megawatts could increase. After all, the US has a solar capacity of 10 gigawatts (GW).

To guarantee prosperity, Nigeria needs to start thinking like other oil-rich nations. For example, UAE plans to produce 44% of its electricity from renewable (solar and wind), 38% from gas, 12 percent from fossil fuel and 6 % from nuclear in 2050. The Gulf state is investing $163 billion in its ambitious plan on renewables.

UAE’s decision is good economics. Investment in solar energy guarantees a long-term, stable and inflation-protected return. Unlike gas-fired power plants which need gas supply from oil companies, solar plants need virtually nothing. The price of gas in the global market has no effect in the supply of electricity from solar plants. Also, in terms of risk, solar power plants are not connected to pipelines, which are prone to vandalism.

There are other good news in terms of economics. The price of solar electricity, after factoring in the cost of plant construction, is now coming down. Thanks to technology. Last year, a solar firm, Solarpack, contracted to sell solar electricity in Chile at just $29.1 per megawatt hour, almost half of the price of electricity from gas-fired power plants in Chile.

Comparing the current pricing in Chile to Nigeria’s tariff system, would amount to paying just N10.6 per kilowatt hour. This means in the long term, there is a possibility of producing very cheap electricity from solar plants currently built in northern Nigeria. Cheap electricity will turn around the fortunes of Nigeria.

With massive supply of solar electricity to the national grid, gas-fired power plants in the south could adjust its supply to capture cheap solar electricity. For instance, Nigeria could have a scenario where it is cheaper to use electricity during the day, when solar plants are supplying electricity, and slightly costlier to use at night, when gas-fired plants are supplying.

Health wise, more gigawatts can be added to Nigeria’s energy mix without fear of noise and air pollution. This means Nigeria could industrialize without harming its environment.

There are other indirect benefits of constructing solar plants. The construction of solar power plants creates more jobs than any other power plant construction. Unlike the construction of gas fired power plants which consist of complex machinery, the bulk of the cost of building solar plants goes to solar panels. It would be easier to manufacture solar panels in Nigeria than to manufacture gas turbines, whose engines are similar to aircraft engines.

As a nation, we need the sunlight and vast expanse of land in north. The south and north need each other.

I do not hate igbos and don't know many people who do from my circle, but l think there is an inherent trait in a local average Igbo man to see other tribes as inferior, in the process it sparks a negative feedback and reaction from others.

Maybe the igbos who do this do it unknowingly though, but from my observation this trait seem to be more common with the average Igbo man(just some of them though) than any other tribe.
All tribes in Nigeria have their weaknesses too.

Also l agree that the Igbo's are the most successful in investment and trading, and have great intellectual prowess, but Yoruba's also have many great achievements intellectually and lack of education from the onset is the problem for a large population in the north, else they would have competed fairly too.(considering the three majorities only).

Those set of lgbo people should stop looking down on others, even if you are a Biafran, we all have thesame red blood.
