For the record, Gift is NO Boniface. She actually scores and contributes to the betterment of the team. Your analogy is completely off the mark. Ordega WAS given a last hurrah in the olympics and it was obvious she was piss poor. She has absolutely ZERO business being on this squad and will be a flop again. Last hurrah my hinny. Ijami-who? Dude, you have no clue about what you're talking here. This one will be another flop. Slow, unintelligent player who has no business being on the team.
Ordega was not at the Olympics. She somewhat sneaked her way into the WorldCup 2023. That was her last tournament.
Midfielders: 🧠 11• Halimatu Ayinde (Rosengard FC Sweden 🇸🇪) 12• Christy Ucheibe (Benfica FC, Portugal 🇵🇹) 13• Deborah Abiodun (Dallas Trinity, USA 🇺🇸) 14• Jennifer Echegini (PSG, France 🇫🇷) 15• Toni Payne (Everton Ladies, England 🏴) 16• Rasheedat Ajibade (Atletico Madrid, Spain 🇪🇸)
Forwards 🥅 17• Asisat Oshoala (Bay FC, USA 🇺🇸) 18• Ifeoma Onumonu (Montpellier FC, France 🇫🇷) 19• Esther Okoronkwo (AFC Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦) 20• Chinwendu Ihezuo ( Pachuca, Mexico 🇲🇽) 21• Omorinsola Babajide (CA Tenerife, Spain 🇪🇸) 22• Chioma Okafor (University of Connecticut, USA 🇺🇸) 23• Francisca Ordega (Al-Ittihad, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦) 24• Ijamilusi Folashade ( Liaoning Baiye FC,China 🇨🇳)
Tochukwu Oluehi should retire, I would have taken Faith Omilana. Not sure about Unachukwu sha Francisca Ordega should retire. I would have taken Gift Monday ahead of her. Would also love to see Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.
Surprised to see Chinwendu Ihezuo, Chioma Okafor and no Uchenna Kanu. But I'm indifferent about all 3.
Deltamani: There were enough time to at least camp for 3-4 weeks with the exception of NWSL players and only Ayinde based in Sweden which the Swedish OBOS Damallskvenskan is still in season..
I wondered why this late preparation but they want to win… So Morocco 🇲🇦, Tanzania 🇹🇿, Botswana 🇧🇼, Algeria 🇩🇿 that have been in Camp for a while now doesn’t deserve to win the WAFCON??
Don't mind the yeye NFF. Only 1 match in 2025 out of a possible 6, 7 or 8. We don't deserve to win period. And if we make it to top 4 then it's because other teams slacked.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria will open their training camp in Lisbon, Portugal this week as they ramp up preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to hold in Morocco.
Led by head coach Justine Madugu, the nine-time African champions will use the training programme to fine-tune tactics, build team cohesion, and assess player fitness ahead of Africa’s premier women’s football tournament
The team is expected to depart Nigeria for Lisbon on Saturday, June 21, with a high-profile international friendly against the Portuguese women’s national team slated for Monday, June 23. The encounter will serve as a crucial test for the Super Falcons, offering a chance to gauge their readiness against European opposition and make final tactical adjustments before the continental championship.
After the friendly, the Nigerian side will continue their preparations in Lisbon before departing for Morocco on Tuesday, June 25, where they will hold a final camp ahead of the tournament.
Coach Madugu has already submitted his list of invited players for the Portugal camp to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), with the official squad announcement expected within the week. The squad is anticipated to feature a mix of experienced regulars and promising newcomers eager to stake their claim ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria, drawn in Group C for WAFCON 2024, will begin their campaign against Tunisia at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday, July 6. The group also includes Botswana and Algeria, setting the stage for a competitive battle for knockout stage qualification.
As the most successful team in African women’s football history, the Super Falcons will be aiming to reclaim the WAFCON title they last lifted in 2018 and secure a record-extending 10th continental crown.
Starting Line Up. I wonder where we can watch this game. A first game for the Falcons in 2025 on the 6th available window. NFF should bow their heads in shame.
Nothing. Everybody can not play at the same time. Nwabalu is number 1 and is returning to Nigeria for his parents burial after this game. Okoye will be In goal against Russia.
AfroSport TV streamed the Trinidad & Tobago vs Jamaica match yesterday on their Youtube channel. I suppose they will do same again today for Nigeria vs Ghana
PDPGuy: Super Falcons squad list for the 2 Cameroon friendlies
Dunno why I suspect, there will be absentees. Some folks don retire with NFF organizational madness. Imagine not playing 4 friendlies, it will only get worse. And why Ordega, why not look towards youth?
Deltamani: Hey Guys, just wanted to bring this here.
Talking about a proper back up for Chiamaka Nnadozie, I think and I believe that Rita Akarekor is good enough for the 2nd choice position or even as a 3rd choice.
•• Was 3rd choice goalkeeper under Coach Florence Omagbemi at the 2016 WAFCON in Cameroon ••Was part of the 2018 U20 World Cup squad in France •• Currently based in Tanzania 🇹🇿 playing for the biggest team there after a season in Morocco 🇲🇦
I’m not judging by any shot video clips please, have been following her game for long now and I think she deserves a look.
Motunrayo Ezekiel🇳🇬 joins Valencia 🦇 women's Football Club. She played a couple of Falconets games in recent years Good luck to her
From Nigeria to Spain: 21-year-old striker joins black and white side Valencia
Ezekiel Motunrayo becomes the latest Nigerian star to switch to the Spanish Liga-F after her move to Valencia. Spanish club side Valencia CF have officially signed 21-year-old Nigerian striker Ezekiel Motunrayo, signalling a significant addition to their Women’s squad as they aim to strengthen their attack.
The agreement will see Motunrayo wear the black and white jersey until the summer of 2026 as the club said in a statement.
Motunrayo, who was born on May 30, 2003, in Nigeria, is known for her versatility on the field as she is capable of playing both as a right winger and a centre forward.
Her speed and ability to find the back of the net are expected to be valuable assets for the team.
Before joining Valencia, she played for Rivers Angels during the 2023-2024 season in the Nigeria Women's Football League and had previously been with Lakeside Queens since 2017.
This signing is part of Valencia's strategy to bolster their squad during the January transfer window, with Motunrayo being one of the notable Nigerian talents making the move to Spain's Liga F.
The club hopes that the Nigerian’s skills will help improve their performance in the league as they navigate a challenging season.
Valencia currently sit bottom of the league with seven points from 17 matches after just one win and 12 defeats.
Los Che will be hoping that the addition of Motunrayo will help usher in a new phase at the club as they look to avoid the drop come end of the season.
Deborah Abiodun, Well done! Yewande Balogun thanks for the clean sheet in goal in that North American friendly trilogy that stopped our losings streak. Zambia (FAZ) una well done for spotting Top Coaching talent. Our Ex-Players should do the needful too in Management.
