Iheanacho taking off at halftime, see curses on Twitter before then.
I feel so sorry for him. I don't think he should be played as an out and out striker anymore or from the wings.
He should operate more from the middle, behind the striker(s).
With age people tend to favour tactical smart playing over brute force strength and running.

He's skillfull and great with passes and outside the 18 goal attempts.
Coach should try him there more often.

Get ready for the #U17WWC African Qualifiers draw today! Check out the pots. 🤩
https://x.com/CAFwomen/status/1867117186684514323
CAF tweeted above 4 hours ago. 6 teams of 4 are listed here. Image is attached

Then I Found the official info here: https://www.cafonline.com/womens-football/news/caf-to-conduct-fifa-u-17-women-s-world-cup-qualifiers-draw-on-thursday/

28 teams entered for this qualifiers (though link lists 29). 6 teams of 4 are listed in teh tweet. The 5 nations not listed are Burundi, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and Morocco.

Also, CAF said this is Qualifiers for the 2025 U17 Womens World Cup, so I guess the 2024 Women's WAFU B U17 Tournament which starts tomorrow in Ghana (featuring Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Cote D'Ivoire) is just a friendly tournament?

So much confusion huh huh huh
ok this explains it.
Burundi, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia get bye to Round 2 (probably based on previous performance)
Morocco gets bye to Competition as host

Yes, 2024 Women's WAFU B U17 Tournament apparently just a friendly.
Nothing bad with that sha.
Seems Burkina faso is also meant to appear in WAFU tournament too...

They add flair to the team.

Especially when they're extra dedicated.

Look at the Onyibo wall (Leon and Troost) .

Plumptre is not doing bad at all.

You see Alozie, it opposition player beat her, she will still gather all her strength and run to pursue the player. Most home born will do like they're pregnant when backtracking after being dribbled.

See Onumonu, she always give her best come rain come shine
O'boy this na correct colonial mentality comment. There is no evidence that foreign born players have done more for the Falcons or Eagles.

Talk is not cheap...na your comment no get value! There is a reason why she is a professional, gets the flaws and plaudits where applicable, just like we do get ours in our different disciplines and workplaces!

Victor Boniface had been firing on all cylinders for his club. Onumonu just most recently hit top form! Big Difference!

Onumonu got playing time based on Waldrum's Americanized selection pattern ahead of others that should be making the team, yet hardly did she make it count, not because she was played out of position or was out of luck, she just simply didn't cut it. Now, she has started to look that part, so you can rest on comparing her with Boniface!
You know Onumonu scored the goal that qualified us for the World Cup at WAFCON 2022. But yes, she got a lot of playing times at WAFCON and could have done much better. I don't think she scored a goal again for Nigeria after WAFCON until the France friendly, she also didn't start too many games after WAFCON too. Almost missed Olympics until the injury to Ayinde.

Oyibo Coaches and Foreign born can be grouped alike.

There are a particular set of people who keep clamoring for Nwabali to be displaced as Super Eagles number 1, despite the fact that he hardly puts any wrong step forward.

Same set of people believe Okoye can do no wrong, even if he concedes goals wearing the green. Runs away and then chooses his own time to return.

Let's emancipate ourselves from mental slavery. Non but ourselves can free our minds.

The Home based goalkeepers haven’t done enough, they’re best as 3rd choice at least for inclusion sake.. They should go scout abroad, USA and Europe are a good location to at least get one.

No Deborah Abiodun, No Halimatu Ayinde, No Tosin Demehin, No Rasheedat Ajibade, No Asisat Oshoala. That is 5 top key players missing.

The team did very okay.in their absence. Impressed with #13 Shakirat Isa and #12 Shukurat Oladipo (came in for Alozie at RB). They held the forte well when they came on.

Our goal was superb. The ball carrying and swift passing transition and in our counter attack from Blessing Nkor to Gift monday to Ifeoma Onumonu looks very much like 2013 Nigeria U17 Team featuring Yahaya, Awoniyi and Iheanacho. Clinical.

Finally, BankyGee is right. How FIFA managed to leave out Nnadozie from the FIFA The Best GKs nominees is absolutely bullcrap. Did enough this year and last season to earn it and showed again yesterday why she is indeed among the very best safe hands in the women's game.
The goal top marks to Onumonu. She showed she is in top notch physically fitness. I love her!

Blessing Nkor = received ball, calm acceleration and pass to Gift Monday 15 points

Gift Monday = Good thinking and tactical through ball for Ify Onumonu 25 points

Ify Onumonu = Smart thinking to start running pass Blessing Nkor (you can imagine Blessing should have continued running but she was tired), opening herself out to catch Gift Mondays through ball, and skillfully lifting ball over on rushing goal keeper. 60 points!!!

I wish we had also equalised. 😊🇳🇬👍🏾

Ohale made a mountain over a mole hill. Not cool. Red card at 95th minute means nothing in a friendly.

Also why did the Coach sub in Adoo Yina, and sub her off again after about 10 minutes. Not cool. Abi na injury?

What is the Best Formation, Madugu can select against France?

I have a feeling Madugu will elect for a 4-3-3 formation. Barring last minute injuries, I ween our strongest starting 11 is:

Nnadozie

Alozie — Ohale — Demehin — Plumptre

Ucheibe

Echegini —- Payne

Nkor —- Onumonu —- Babajide

Substitutes
1• Unachukwu
2• Mgbechi
3• Monday
4• Adoo
5• Imuran
6• Oladipo
7• Isah
8• Omewa

Our Local Coaches play a brand of football built on largely formulaic and predictable individual play coalescing into decent team routines (physical/functional football) rather than a well calibrated, highly refined and supremely coordinated group dynamics leading the charge and devolving into unpredictable movements.

Functional football is easy to the eye and very plain. With players who know what they are doing and are very professional, it can cause problems even the most technical team on the planet.

And Madugu has highly competent players who are well versed in the job description of their roles and can raise their individual performance to make functional football effective. The traditional roles of wingers, midfielders, defenders and centre forwards (the cornerstone of physical/functional football) can be performed with class and effectiveness by most of the players invited.

After following closely the outputs of local coaches particularly in the last 5 years, I have come to perish the expectations of seeing tactical football in play. We simply do not have the infrastructure to produce this sort of football. So, hopefully our local coaches can enhance the possibilities inherent in traditional football of the 1970s 80s/90s and select players capable enough to bring modern interpretations to bear.

So, I am looking to see how things play out.

How does the call-up to the Super Falcons of Nigeria work? Is it based on a quota system or do the coaches just pick randomly? Or is it the NFF that recommends players to the coaches? I don't understand how we would have such talented and in-form players in Europe and not give them a chance to prove themselves. With the absence of the dependable Rasheedat Ajibade, names like Esther Okoronkwo, Uchenna Kanu, Macleans Chinonyerem etc., I thought it was best to give a look out for the current most in-form forwards we have in Europe. How can you have talented, fast, and skillful youngsters like this that are hot in the various top leagues in Europe and not give them a look? Nigerian coaches are just so bad at taking advantage of in-form players, Madugu and his Coaching Crew need to do better...

For instance, Joy Ugochukwu Omewa, a 21-year-old CF playing for Fortuna Hjorring Women in Denmark🇩🇰, has played 14 games, scoring 11 goals and 4 assists. She's currently the top scorer in the Danish Elitedivisionen Women. Another example is Edna Imade, a 24-year-old forward playing for Granada CF Women in Spain🇪🇸, who has played 11 games, scoring 7 goals. She's currently the 3rd top scorer in the Spanish Liga F Women.

Buts jokes aside I do understand that better scouting can be done, and more merit involved (less emotions ...selecting based on relationships or possible financial gain).
