Jobs/VacanciesRe: JOBLESSNESS - Giving Up On Tech - Whats Your Take This 2024 by ekehopp2: 12:39pm On Jul 27, 2024
refsilva:
I am a Frontend Developer .. let me call myself intermediate however, i haven't had any full time role before . The only thing I have done is an internship and throughout the internship I was Opportuned to get some on the job training.

The journey hasn't been easy so far.. Looking back at everything i have invested well close to 500 k on this web dev stuff, yet i haven't gotten a job yet

To me it seems like this tech of a thing is just another Gold rush that seem to go nowhere. The stuff is to me seems more like luck...and i am getting tired of the whole thing all together

You will see guys posting tech as a pathway to wealth but is it really...

I was doing marketing jejely before jumping into Tech.. Now i'm soo soo jobless
I have submitted countless applications, yet no evidence.. Most won't even reply, and some will respectfully send a rejection.

I don't know if i should pivot to another thing or give up altogether... Cause this stuff isn't bringing money, and someone has to sort out oneself else one will end up marrying at 35..

What do you guys think about this. Are you earning any money off front-end... Pls be realistic...

If you are, How do you do it, If you aren't how are you juggling expenses

In case you want to know what skill level I fall into, here is my portfolio:https://yusuff-portfolio.netlify.app/#Work
Had my first Tech interview a little over a year ago. Like you've I've also done an internship, HNG and even Chingu. A lot of people I know have given up, but i think Tech in 2024 is a marathon and not a sprint like in was in year's past. Have other sources of income (so you don't get frustrated and burn out) and keeping going alongside. Eventually we'll get there.

We weren't good enough; sad loss.
Against Spain I would bench Okeke and Ihezuo for Nicole Payne and Okoronkwo.
Push Toni Payne to the wings and bring Echegini middle.
Or alternatively start Kanu and Onumonu in place of the duo.

Here’s the Super Falcons’ Starting XI to face Brazil in today’s #Olympics opener.

What do you think of the squad ? 🤔 🦅🇳🇬
Looks more like T.Payne on the right and Echegini behind Ihezuo.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by ekehopp2: 5:00pm On Jul 25, 2024
Same squad as in Canada friendly. Predictable really.
Is Alani a mistake, she's an alternate player?

Osasu Obayiuwana made this claim on Twitter:
Since August 2023, when the @NGSuper_Falcons were at the #FIFAWWC, they have not played ONE friendly game. But for the qualifying games for the @Olympics, they would have had no games at all. With World Champions #Spain, #Brazil and former #WWC champs Japan in their group, that’s deeply worrying.

My response:

This information is not totally true Sir.
Yes no friendlies but 8 matches in all since the WorldCup in August 2023.
Made up of Olympic and WAFCON Qualifiers.
It would have been 10 save for São Tomé and Príncipe early withdrawal from the WAFCON.
8 matches in 11 months is actually not too bad.

25 October 2023, Ethiopia 1–1 Nigeria Olympics
31 October 2023, Nigeria 4–0 Ethiopia Olympics
30 November 2023, Nigeria 5–0 Cape Verde WAFCON
5 December 2023, Cape Verde 1–2 Nigeria WAFCON
23 February 2024 Cameroon 0–0 Nigeria Olympics
26 February 2024, Nigeria 1–0 Cameroon Olympics
5 April 2024, Nigeria 1–0 South Africa Olympics
9 April 2024, South Africa 0–0 Nigeria Olympics
As per the striking discussion, see above.
Only 2 goals scored in 4 matches this year. If you include the Canada unofficial friendly, that's 5 matches.
Guess that's why Randy wanted physically strong strikers with high numbers at their clubs, hence Macleans ...and Ihezuo.
But yes defence is great!
Less than 2 hours to go. We shall see what Randy's cooking.

P/S: the 4 games in 2023 were executed by Justin Madugu, while the 4 in 2024 were by Randy.

The girls are wearing the new Super Eagles green jersey.
So we're back to same jersey for men and women?
Nice!

But jersey looks oversized. This version not properly shaped for women.

The Super Falcons will play a friendly game with Olympic Champions, Canada on Wednesday, July 17th in preparation for the Olympics.

La Quinta Football Centre, Malaga.

Time: 5:30pm (Nigerian Time)
25 minutes to kickoff. Any Line up news?

Though @Superfalconshow puts Kick-Off at 5:30pm NGA🇳🇬

I just watched this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vpg1IAps0CQ Super Falcons vs Canada match preview | Olympic Games 2024

And I must say that Chiamaka Nnadozie is easily the fatest person in the team (except maybe the other Goal Keeper Tochi Oluehi).
I understand that being in goal demands less mobility than being an outfield player. But mobility, strength and agility is everything when it comes to sharpness, performance and good reflexes.
Trust me I know. I've been working out at the gym (Calisthenics, Running, some weights) at least 3 days a week for almost 4 years now.
Nnadozie I use God beg you, start to diet and start to work on your mobility and agility more. You are so important to us and we need you performing for more time to come. smiley

Camp Update ‼️

As a result of injury to Halimatu Ayinde, Coach Randy Waldrum has moved forward Ifeoma Onumonu to the 18-player squad while Regina Otu has been invited as alternate player.
Randy knows best.
Alozie plays 2 different positions for Club (attack) and Country (defence).
With this tweak, means Ucheibe will alternate between defence and mid field, while players like Ajibade and Ify Onumonu will also likely play fully in midfield for the Olympics.

I was thinking the likes of Osinachi Ohale, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Onyi Echegini, Esther Okoronkwo, Jumoke Alani, Blessing Demehin, Chinonyerem Macleans will be in camp already awaiting the NWSL players…!
Jennifer Echegini is in camp already, though picture taken before she arrived I guess.

...Expected to reach Seville on Monday, are Michelle Alozie’, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Osinachi Ohale.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by ekehopp2: 9:27pm On Jul 07, 2024
Ucheibe, Oluehi, Toni Payne, Deborah Abiodun, huh??, Chidinma Okeke, Gift Monday, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie

Who's huh??
Morufa Ademola I guess?

Yet to see Randy in any of these pictures from The Super Falcons Show @Superfalconshow

P/S: Confirmed. Yes that's Morufa Ademola. Funny how Chiamaka Nnadozie is the tallest, yet a 5'11 guy would still dwarf her tongue

SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by ekehopp2:
Deltamani:
Who replaces her now? Cause among the alternatives we don’t have any Defensive Midfielder in there, I believe the window for changes is still open…!

Randy need to get a Defensive Midfielder not bringing in any of the alternatives, Abiodun and Ucheibe can’t do the job alone, they need supports..

Regina Otu??
I'm not sure he's allowed to do so. Jumoke Alani should replace her from the alternate list.

But if he brings someone else, then Rofiat Imuran, Akudo Ogbonna or Shukurat Oladipo (FC Robo Queens' defender) are the likely other options based on his most recent selections.

I think Regina Otu played under stand in coach Justin Madugu, I'm not sure Randy has used her since the WorldCup.

You guys didn’t see this coming 😂😂😂
1. Chinonyerem Macleans
We didn't see it coming at all! tongue
She hasn't been in the Falcons since WAFCON 2022, not even sure she had much game time there.
Can someone explain likely recent developments that made Randy go back to pick her ahead of Gift Monday, Ifeoma Onumonu and Babajide Rinsola? Though from what I've seen like Chiwendu Ihezuo she's a big physical striker, while the omitted 3 are light weight in terms of physique. Also Gift Monday and Babajide Rinsola are team mates (though Gift Monday débuted earlier). So omitting both prevents any sort of beef between the two grin.

2. Really Happy to see Oluwatosin Demehin is fit enough to be of use.

3. Can somebody also explain why Randy likely picked Morufa Ademola ahead of Linda Jiwuaku who has been in all his recent squad lists?

4. Only real big omission is Ashleigh Plumptre due to injury

5. Nicole Payne hasn't really played for Falcons too many times since WAFCON but her versatility makes it a sound choice.

6. The comebacks are Nicole Payne and Chinonyerem Macleans (picked WAFCON, missed WorldCup) and Chidinma Okeke and Chiwendu Ihezuo (Recalled Falcon stars from pre-WAFCON)

7. Another interesting stat: From the 18, only 5 players with dual nationality: Michelle Alozie, Nicole Payne, Toni Payne, Jennifer Echegini and Esther Okoronkwo.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by ekehopp2: 8:25am On Jul 03, 2024
Our players, both Male and female need maturity. The way Sadiq Umar responded to the rumours after he was dropped from AFCON is the way a thorough bred professional should always handle rumours. No calling anybody out. Smart diplomacy.

Onome and Ordega didn't need the Twitter lives and calling on God to curse out.

A professional simple statement to disregard hearsay. State callup is realistically unlikely, but wouldn't mind if it came as any patriotic citizen would, but wish the team and coaching staff well above all things. Simple.

Certainly you did not watch AWCON 2018.
To be honest I didn't. But watched the 2019 WorldCup as a JJC.
And then started watching Women's football (Falcons, Falconets, Flamingoes) religiously starting from WAFCON 2022

I watched the highlights of Tochi's game, the one against Ashleigh's team in Saudi Arabia, where Ashleigh scored a hatrick against her and I wasn't impressed.

At the WorldCup 2019 Nnadozie took over from game 2 and then claimed the number 1 spot. Tochi doesn't inspire confidence.

It happens, the rise and fall. We should look to the future: Jiwuaku.

SamueItem337:
Have you ever watched jiwuaku keep?
Yep, at the U17 WorldCup. Good with penalties.
Randy has her in his team, so he's confident about her.

All Tochi's game I've seen, na pure basket.

They’re joking
We need only 2 goalies
Chiamaka & Tochi
Interfering with coach’s work is bad
If he gets bad results they’d blame him
Our group appears to be more difficult than the one we had at the World Cup
I wouldn't even take Tochi. She's retirement bound and we should be looking at the future. I'd take Nnadozie and Jiwuaku.

EXCLUSIVE: Scandal rocks Super Falcons final Olympics squad

The Super Falcons final squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics will be announced any time from now, but it will include two players imposed on coach Randy Waldrum.

Sources inside the team told SCORENigeria that in the first instance the Texan coach could not have a list of four alternate players besides a final 18-person squad because the NFF claimed they do not have the additional funds to take care of these players.

However, four alternate players were subsequently forwarded to the organisers unknown to the coach.

Among these players are two veteran players who have not been involved with the team in recent times because the coach said he has no use for them.

Interestingly, both players were also forced on the coach for last year’s World Cup.

This latest selection scandal is expected to bring Waldrum in another face-off with the NFF.

It would be recalled that the American coach and his employers rowed openly in the build-up to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

All appeared to be forgotten and forgiven when against most expectations, Waldrum guided the Super Falcons past a “Group of Death” that housed hosts Australia and Olympic Gold medalist Canada.

The Super Falcons are again drawn in a difficult-looking first round group at the Paris Olympics after they were pitched against world champions Spain, former world champions Japan and South American champions Brazil.

Nine-time African champions open their Paris Olympics campaign on July 25 against Brazil in Bordeaux.
I know say Ordega go dey this imposed list. That Boss NFF woman na her God mother. Nigeria we hail thee 😁😁😁

Very hard, and these days takes time (years) cos you have to learn a lot.
Best to do when you still have a guardian.
As an adult with bills to pay, better done alongside a main job that pays the bills so you won't get frustrated.
But yes, very worth it indeed in the end!
