HealthRe: American Ebola Patients Saved With A "Secret Serum" by Ekundayo7: 6:30pm On Aug 05, 2014
MiguelMi6: Don't jump yet,no chances its hitting the shores of africa soon if it all it worked successfully.
Your callous and negative hatred is wasted energy. The international medical community would not release an unknown and untested cure for ebola unless the patients know this is EXPERIMENTAL, which this one we are speaking of is, and those patients know they are ON THEIR OWN if it doesn't work. All indications show that both Americans who took the drug improved immediately and are up walking around. Of course there have already been ugly murmering on NL that "the West" wants to "experiment" with a population having ebola, as if trying to halt the worst plague of the century is a bad thing. If this serum can be safely and quickly produced and transported I have no doubt it will be used in West Africa and all over the world, but there are government approval channels to go through before administering it. If a president of Liberia or Sierra Leone doesn't mind losing 3/4 of their citizens to ebola rather than accept "Western" experimental drugs, so be it, and Nigerians can continue to bury their heads in the sand over Boko Haram and Ebola reality also. West Africa is damn lucky the international community has a brain and recognized the danger long before the ebola hit countries.

Maybe you should not "think out loud". Who gives a bloody feck where the cure comes from my friend. What matters is that this does not rage like fire out of control and decimate over half the people who become infected. If you have not reasoned through things, the fact that d Nigerian doctor has died became infected while being suited up like an astronaut going to Mars, should tell you that the common man or woman in the street has almost no chance in H E L L of escaping becoming infected by someone who has the active virus. ademoladeji: Oya FG, ban all flight coming from America into the country.
The man at hospital CAME to the US FROM West Africa. No sense pointing fingers and making jokes. People are dying and most from ignorance, superstition, lack of proper sanitation and prevention measures, a basic lack of infrastructure to deal with this plague. Ebola does not care what country you are from or the color of your skin. FG needs to step up in ALL sectors and ministries, stop feeding in the corruption trough like hogs, stop acting like school children gone wild and start CARING for the citizenry. Basic hygiene education, building and stocking of community clinics, education, roads, sanitation, clean water and for God's sake the military and the ongoing bloodletting across the country from terrorists. The truth is that basically ALL politicians and the political system are terrorist in their own right. No one has a brain to implement proper planning and execution of anything, and everyone all down the chain of command is dipping their hand in the money bag. Nigeria is getting exactly the reward for ignoring tomorrow and the next and selfish people thinking only of their own today. Sermon over.

Identity all protestors in their "peaceful" support of terrorists and deport them immediately to Gaza. They can fully experience and take part in their brother's fight. Until Nigerian Muslims start acting like Nigerian citizens, they will continue to be nothing more and nothing less than terrorists within our borders who need to be monitored and ultimately expelled. Please go to your preferred shia/sunni/shari'a paradise. I hear ISIS is in need of "professionals" to rebuild the Muslim Caliphate from scratch.
PoliticsRe: Is It Time To Ban The Hijab From Major Cities? by Ekundayo7: 6:10am On Jul 31, 2014
Ban the use and also send them packing, all of them, back to their traditional lands. I do not want to see any Muslim in Yoruba land, and even Yoruba Muslim I take issue with and I tell them to their face. Why wouild anyone follow the Arabic slave master religion that enslaved your ancestors through jihad. Think. Educate your self. If you are a Muslim than you must approve of the Quran which calls for the death of all non Muslims. I'm done with tolerance. They murder Christians, they murder Yoruba, they murder Ibo, they murder Ijaw, they simply MURDER as their insane child wrapper prophet did following their beloved religion of hell. All Christians, whether Ibo Ijaw Yoruba whatever should leave any northern shari'a states immediately and I would like to see all Hausa Fulani Kanuri loaded out of town. Muslims started this mess, let them finish it in exile. Divide Nigeria and cut these people away from peace loving democratic and forward thinking progressive Nigeria. They have NO PLACE and NO BUSINESS IN THE SE SS SW. I have passed a woman dressed from head to toe in black who lives not a stone's throw from my old residence. She has no place in Yoruba land and I personally do not want these people here. They riot in the markets, they push for more, always more more and more. Enough. Anyone who takes issue with my words can also go suck it as I don't care about catering to Muslims any longer. When they are free to MURDER INNOCENT YORUBA UP NORTH WHO SIT PRAYERS ON FRIDAY, CUT THEIR THROATS, THESE "HUMANS" ARE NOTHING MORE THAN EVIL INCARNATE. THEY DO NOT LIKE NOR CARE FOR ANY OF YOU IN THE SE SS SW SO STOP PRETENDING THAT IT IS "OKAY" TO EXTEND MORE HOSPITALITY AND SPACE FOR THEM IN LANDS THAT ARE NOT OF THEIR OWN. They need to go BACK to their ancestor's lands where they can kill each other, chop off heads, limbs, gouge out eyes, whip, beat, whatever they like, but please, they must not remain a part of Nigeria.

HAH! Shehu Sani barking orders like a mad dog. Just what Nigeria needs-another Muslim fundamentalist zealot group. There would be no need for this sputtering "crisis" if Muslims would keep their bloody religion out of Nigeria and out of Nigerian politics. Truly it is the best thing to divide this country and let the Muslim oligarchy of the shari'a North blow each other up in their quest for ultimate supremacy and pious terrorism. They can all bloody go to hell and kill each other. Anyone who thinks Nigeria is not already in flames is deceiving themselves. Islam is the scourge and death odf this nation and the first mistake was to allow shari'a to install in Zamfara. These Northern oligarchs are not Nigerians, they are not citizens wanting a democracy. They are lice sucking the blood and life of the nation called Nigeria. I weep for the lost promise of this country.

People pray at a May vigil in Abuja, Nigeria, for the schoolgirls abducted in Chibok. More than 200 girls remain missing. (Joe Penney, REUTERS / May 15, 2014)
By Karen Attiah

July 7, 2014

Last month, The Washington Post published an op-ed by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan answering criticism of his response to the kidnapping of hundreds of schoolgirls by the group Boko Haram. This is what Jonathan should have written.

I have remained quiet about Nigeria's continuing efforts to find the girls kidnapped in April from the northern town of Chibok, because, honestly, I hoped the world would ignore it as just another "African tragedy."

But the attention brought by the #BringBackOurGirls social media campaign forced my administration to abandon its usual do-nothing strategy. I admit that for weeks, the Nigerian military was nowhere to be seen in Chibok and aggrieved parents had to resort to venturing into the jungle on foot to search for their children. But I assure everyone, we are doing our best.

I am speaking out now because national elections are in less than a year and my Washington PR firm needs to earn the reported $1.2 million I am paying it.

I wish to assure Nigerians and the international community that, even though my military wrapped up its investigation into the kidnappings without locating the girls, we are sparing no resources. We will keep the findings of the investigation secret, since my good-faith assurances are enough.

My heart aches for the missing children and their families. In fact, my heartache was so painful that I canceled plans to visit Chibok. Instead, I eased my pain by flying to Paris for a national security summit. My first lady, Patience Jonathan, shares in my grief for the families affected by the tragedy. She was so troubled by the agitation of protesters demanding their girls back that she told them to stop their actions and allegedly ordered the police to detain several protest leaders.

While terrorism knows no borders, and security threats rage across West Africa, Nigeria has long been reluctant to accept counterterrorism assistance from the United States and other partners. Nothing is more important than stopping the machinations of Boko Haram, except maybe my desire to keep up appearances and show the international community that Nigeria has been winning the war against the group. I have characterized Boko Haram as a temporary scourge. In the wake of recent attacks and kidnappings of more women, I recognize that the group has effectively exploited the inability of the Nigerian military to put up any semblance of a sustained, coordinated response. Despite the challenges, we definitely are doing our best.

Though Nigeria is a regional powerhouse with a population of more than 170 million, until now it had not occurred to me to collaborate with neighboring countries to fight terrorism. I wish to thank French President Francois Hollande for inviting me and other West African presidents to Paris to discuss this. When it comes to strategizing on African solutions to African problems, a European should take the lead. Besides, I do my best thinking in Paris.

My critics say that decades of neglect have led to conditions amenable to radicalization in the north. My detractors will point to human rights abuses perpetrated by the military. Let the finger-pointing stop. I propose to set up an international summit to organize a fact-finding commission of investigative inquiry to study the progress of ongoing investigations of corruption and lack of development in the north. I have asked Hollande to provide a forum for this in Paris, though I would accept the French Riviera.

Something positive can come out of the kidnappings in April. The world has seen what can happen when terrorism is left to run amok and the citizens of a country have little faith in the ability of their government to protect them. But I wish to assure Nigerians and the rest of the world that I am doing my best.

eldoradoxx: "Mind Your Business" ? Did I just hear that ? Don't you know that it is an abomination for a woman to sleep around while still being married everywhere in Africa. Since foreign religions have taken over our culture and destroyed the good aspect, our generation has become lost, premature and mysterious deaths every where. I know that in my community once a "properly" married woman sleeps with another man, and cooks for the husband and family, both the husband and male kids will become mysteriously sick and it takes trained and cultured elderly eyes to dictate early enough before death occurs. Some men become hit by ill-luck, sorrow everywhere. That is why every African owes a duty to expose illicit affairs of any married woman to her husband because you might just be saving lives. Please if you build water tight case, present your evidence to the friend and save him from a predator of a wife.

They are not saying that Northern oligarchy are not funding BH, just that they have found no evidence, and seriously, do we really think they could find their way out of a sock? How on earth could they possibly get access to financial transactions between Northern sympathizers and backers and BH? The FG can't even track it's own money let alone an outsider who has no understanding of the capital "C" of corruption. BH is nothing more and nothing less than a Northern creation that has ties with fundamentalist Wahhabi terrorist roots. They would like to kill two birds with one stone-overturn the FG securing their family looting lineage until the end times, and also install their shari'a law down to Lagos. BH has turned the corner into radical fundamentalism and whichever way the wind blows that will bring the most loot to the Northern Oligarchy is fine with them. These elitists cut their teeth in Sudan and other terrorist breeding grounds, so what do you expect? It is the "do as I say, not as I do" school of Islam supremacy. One need only look at the madmen currently rampaging in Syria and Iraq to understand this is all about power and money. Drunk on blood and death, either the sane Muslims/Christians pick up arms against them or get ready for entering the mass ethnic cleansings taking place as I write this. Northern leaders are playing both sides of the knife. The religion of Islam is nothing more than a politicized tool to control the population through shari'a. The sooner people figure that out the better.

crackhaus: It is his prerogative.
If he wants to do it, fine...and if he doesn't, nothing wrong. That's the reality of it, regardless of having a joint account.

And yes marriage is a partnership, no one is disputing that...but if sharing every single responsibility is your definition of partnership, then I'm sorry but you're wrong. Partnership is understanding what works for everyone involved and knowing when to adjust, it is not about sharing responsibilities equally right down the middle in 50/50 fashion.
Even with this joint account arrangement, it still may not be an exact 50/50 thing because if for instance the man earns 200k and his wife earns 150k, they won't contribute the exact same amount monthly...this is why I said nothing is ideal in this world, to believe otherwise is paramount to delusion.

A man will still do those chores his wife is incapable of doing like changing light bulbs, washing the cars, taking them for servicing, changing the oil in the generator, servicing the generator if he can, fixing broken fixture and furniture around the house, changing tires, plumbing, etc.... I really could go on and on... Basically, the husband is the first handyman on site; he is the electrician, the plumber, the mechanic, the contractor, the painter, the carpenter...Honestly, I could go on and on again.
But does a woman who believes in sharing responsibilities equally extend it to include all of this? The answer is NO, why? because women already believe it is the man's job and yet the man is crucified for restricting his involvement in kitchen duty.

Like you said about knowing the person before you marry them, this is true but still it's not an absolute solution...people wake up with different feelings everyday and you can't possibly expect or think anyone is incapable of changing.
In the bolded above I just want to point out that women are capable of changing light bulbs, washing cars, taking them for servicing etc., but the point I want to make is that these are OCCASIONAL tasks that need to be done. Cooking at least 2 meals a day, the serving and clean up then the helping children study, bathing them, putting to bed, the washing of clothes and house cleaning that can follow are DAILY tasks, and if a husband can't pitch in and help with these things he is not working towards the good of family unit. It's an entirely different matter if the wife and mother does not have to work outside the home, but most women need to work in order to put food in their children's mouths. This is not about "feminism", this is about survival and shouldering the family load for the benefit of all. I know a woman who besides working her own shop daily, also has a catering business and she spends LONG hours working, sometimes coming home at 2 in the morning with large pots to wash and clean. Do you know that her husband will be up at 2 a.m. and then demanding that she drop all to cater to him and fix his dinner though there is food in the freezer ready to be heated. I am waiting for the day she beats him over the head with her wooden cooking spoon as his attitude is beyond unreasonable. This is not an unusual attitude in Nigerian men and needs to change. Women do not need another child to take care of. He has a brain and two good arms and legs to fix his own food and could even pitch in and help her wash the pots but no, his idea is to make her serve his food then he goes off to bed to leave her alone to wash the large pots hauling water for hours til she can finally get a few hours sleep then get up to tend to her shop. smh

Am still pulling for a brasil holland final. I really want to see more of Robben. I wish he were surrounded by players more his equal. As far as counting brasil out against germany, wouldn't bet on it. Even with Silva and Neymar out we might just see a whole new style of magic without Neymar in the mix. That is what I love-the endless combinations that chance can bring., We never know what we might witness without some unfortunate event bringing players in who have not had a chance to show their style. As far as the Germany England fear of brasil, I think it is in the blood. Italians and French are much more Latin in their language (easily uinderstoond between portuguese, italian and french), culture, body language and style. They have more affinity with the brasilians so I believe the status effect is not so great. German and English culture is the total opposite of expressive/expansive latin culture and germans and brasilians don't have much love for each other owing to the german's racist displays on the pitch and off.

Brazil's Macumba priests ready voodoo dolls for World Cup

Rio de Janeiro (AFP) - Voodoo dolls of Colombian star James Rodriguez, candles in Brazil colors and prayers to deities, Neymar and co are getting full support from the World Cup hosts' Afro-Brazilian religions.
Jose Mourinho's exclusive World Cup analysis

Before every game, Helio Sillman lights four yellow, green and blue candles in the colors of the national flag and places them in a rectangular box representing a football pitch.

He places dolls inside and sends them "strength and energy," with the help of orixas, the gods of macumba and other religions that mix Roman Catholic and African beliefs.

"I place charms made of grains to bring them luck, an amulet to neutralize negative vibes, a cristal and a sun to give them energy, and in the middle orixa necklaces to protect them," Sillman told AFP.

He placed his voodoo altar at the entrance of his store, World of Orixas, in a popular market of Madureira, a northern Rio de Janeiro neighborhood.

He sells drums for Candomble, Macumba and Umbanda ceremonies.

Four other dolls rested on a ceramic plate on the floor, with legs tied and eyes covered. They represent Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon and Chile.

"It is the four teams that Brazil has taken out of the cup," Sillman said as he hit the dolls and held their faces down on the plate to suffocate them.

"That's how I neutralize rival teams before games. I take the leading player and tie his legs to prevent him from moving on the pitch," he said.

"When the leader doesn't do well, the entire team suffers."

As Brazil prepared to play Colombia in Friday's quarter-final, Sillman made two dolls representing Colombia's Rodriguez, the World Cup's leading scorer, and his teammate Juan Cuadrado.

He puts on their team's yellow jersey and ties their feet. During the national anthem, he will light candles "that must last the entire game."

Though Brazil is the world's biggest Catholic nation, millions of Brazilians will, following Christmas services, dress in white and head off on New Year's eve to make offering to Yemanja, goddess of the sea for followers of Afro-Brazilian religion Candomblé.

Although the church, particularly the Evangelical movement, frowns on such things, many Brazilians have a range of superstitions ranging from believing in spirits to reincarnation.

Sillman has run three shops for 30 years now -- the establishments sit side by side with a sea of stores selling Brazilian football regalia and various party items.

His rituals are designed, he says, to "bring spiritual strength to the Seleçao" as a World Cup where the level is high across the board means the team "needs stars such as Neymar, skill, but also luck. And that's where I come in,"

He adds that when a Candomble priest, known as a Pai de Santo, comes to visit, and buy items for ceremonies he takes the opportunity to ask him to "touch, to talk to the Selecao so that their life force becomes stronger."

Sillman, whose footballing rituals date back to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, adds: "That is why we have already been world champions five times. Brazil has a lot of life force, positive thinking -- the people are optimistic by nature."
