chrisley024:It he went to his left, the chances of making a decent cross would have been slim because Smalling would be shielding him, the best was to try to shoot from a very tight angle. |
If everyone is fit, we should line up like this: ........................ DDG Jones/Bailly.. Bailly/Jones.. Chris... Shaw ................ Herrera/Carrick ..... Valencia.................. Pogba .......... Mkhitaryan/Mata/Rooney ............Ibrahimovic..... Rashford/Martial Or ........................ DDG Jones/Bailly.. Bailly/Jones.. Chris... Shaw ................ Herrera/Carrick .... ... Valencia.................. Pogba Mkhitaryan ........Ibrahimovic..... Martial The idea will be to utilize Valencia to his fullest, very close to what he does for Ecuador. He will offer energy, pace and protection to the midfield. He helps out defence and carries the ball forward fast either through the middle or in the wing. Even if Valencia overlaps, our defence shape will be intact with Jones pinning the right back. Pogba will finally be free to express himself while Valencia and Herrera cover his mess. Pogba is given more licence to adventure forward. Blind fights for the left back position. Rooney, Rashford and Mata fight for the forward roles. With this we will be hard to beat, and we will easily beat the small teams. |
chrisley024:Smalling was still the one at fault for Hazard's goal. Hazard had only one angle from which he could score, and Smalling allowed him turn to that angle. She should have been more conscious of preventing Hazard from coming inside. Hazard had no chance if he went outside. |
larride:About two years ago, I said it here that Pogba didn’t deserve to start matches for us in 2011/2012 season when he eventually forced his way out. We had that argument twice on this forum, Coogar and his supporters made me appear like I didn't know what I was saying. I said the few minutes he was given that season, he looked very good with potentials but he wasn't fit to start for us in a stiff title race between United and City that season where both eventually ended with 89 points each. Now look at him, still same style, trying to shine for personal glory. |
Oasis007:We knew it would not be long before he picked a red card, or injure or cause a penalty. He plays with too much power. |
Elxandre:So Pogba is no longer a number 10? There was a long argument here which was supported by majority of people that Rooney was preventing Pogba from enjoying his 'advanced' role. People were bringing articles to buttress the fact that that Pogba should play in the number 10. I remember I said he was a central midfielder. |
nyabinghi:This was the beginning of mistakes. Moyes was never allowed to settle. Once he had two successive bad results, the media and fans went after him that he was not a world class coach. He didn't have the luxury and protection Gaal had, and what Mourinho too is enjoying. But we shouldn't sack again if we want to steady the team. |
Smalling disgraced again, the third time today. What is this. |
Our defenders left their sense at home. Smalling easily waved by Hazard. |
Zlatan could have equalised but he failed to direct his header. Smalling and Blind were both at fault for the goal. Smalling assumed the offside line was kept, but Blind's positioning gave Pedro the advantage. Valencia is the only player we have. He has been very good. He is three men in one. We are just too slow. Chelsea are faster. Fellaini and Blind were very slow in the first half. |
patrickmuf:Who are those mediocres? |
herbie27: 1 John 5:16-17 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. |
tess1:I saw this yesterday, I wondered what you meant. Did you mistakenly quote me? |
SIRcumalot:What if RVP scores the winning goal today? |
The match was even until Barcelona scored. In 2009 final, United dominated the opening minutes until Etoo dribbled Vidic for the opening goal, and it became one sided. If you cannot punish Barca when you have the upper hand, then forget it. City forward players didn't appear to have a scoring sense. They needed to have played a real striker. City were making useless short passes in their own third even when Barca pressed them for the ball. I am tempted to ask, did Guardiola make Barca or Barca made Guardiola? |
Diademk07:Herrera is trying o. I see no reason why Pogba cannot start a counter with a player like Di Maria. |
Diademk07:Yes, remember when Madrid packed it against Bayern Munich. Di Maria was involved in virtually all the counters, carrying the ball forward and tearing Bayern part through the middle at great speed. Ronaldo and Bale didn't have to do much but to run wide to wait for the ball while Benzema waited in the middle. |
Antonio Valencia is the only player who has genuine pace with balance in the team. When we packed the bus in the second half, we needed to threaten with counter attacks. If I were the coach and I assuming I had a player like Jones on the bench, I would have brought him to play right back while I push Valencia forward. That should have pushed Liverpool back to their half, else they concede. I don't rate Darmian, he makes me nervous. If only Mourinho had a pacing player like Di Maria. |
TRendlona:Our formation was very good in the first half while we dominated but Pogba was the major obstacle to our attacking play. He should just do the simple things and take the pressure off himself. |
folba:True, if we got a point from the Manchester City game, they would have just be two point above us. |
elrony:That angle should not be hard for a great scorer like Zlatan. He got the height, he got the power, etc. May be his confidence is crashing. Give that chance to short Messi, it would look the most easy thing in life. Messi, Bale, Ronaldo, Suarez would have made the keeper useless or made to make a make a miraculous save. |
Before we were looking for best position for Rooney, now we are looking for best position for Pogba. Abeg make e go play CM. We get people wey we need to give opportunity for number 10. Today, even when he had a chance to set Rashford through into the box, he went looking for personal glory. |
Pogba should concentrate on central midfield. Mkhitaryan, Mata should be tried in the number 10 position. Pogba had 6 unsuccessful touch and got dispossed 4 times. Even Rooney doesn't get that poor in possession lost stats. Fellaini did very well in the first half, but he was was easily beaten in the second half. He appeared to always marked players from the wrong side. Pogba was guilty of same. They over worked Herrera. Why did our midfielders allow Coutinho space for that shot when they knew what he could do? We will need faster players in our central attack. I don't know how fast Mkhitaryan is. |
Wazgwan with Ibrahimovic? I thought that header was a forgone conclusion but he appeared to have even defended it. Lol |
diggz:He is a beast. Horse power. There was a time he was calling for the ball from Herrera that would have been a great counter, but Herrera didnt see that Val had bursted clear. |
SailorXY:We need fast legs in our attack, unfortunately we haven't such players on the bench. |
Pogba is not in the game at all. He is giving away the ball cheaply, one of them led to Bailly earning a yellow. He is lackadaisical.. Rashford is not consistent. But good game from the lads. Wish Ibrahimovic had speed. |
Let the match start before you criticize the line up. |
elrony:Young and Fellaini starting. Hmmm. Hard to predict. |
Kenyans will say "Nigeria again?" "Nothing good comes out of Nigeria " ![]() |
Well said. Unlike a former President who was controlled by his wife, and she was always taking front roles ahead of her husband. |
SailorXY:But he picked Everton from their perpetual relegation battling position to top 6 teams in the league. Everton used to escape relegation every season like Sunderland, then Moyes came and ensured they stayed within 4th-8th position. For that he earned some credit. |
