Alright...I've seen a lot of discussions on dis same Tecno N3 and they are all driving me nuts...simply because......

Anyways what I need, from fellow crackheads like me is this:

1. Any1 wiv a working custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) Totally tired of seeing my stock 3e recovery.

2. Any1 wiv any other custom ROM (d only available is d gingerbean by xanders. Nice goin bro...more palm oil to ur yam).

3. Anybody wiv d sys.img file of their stock rom

4. Anybody knw how to convert a system.tar (or .zip) ROM to a .img

5. Oh, and lest o forget, anybody knw anything about our bootloader

6. Dis 1 is random....anybody knw why tecno is releasing more fones than their customer care can handle?

In layman's terms:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot flash system sys.yaffs2.img

Shikena. Don't forget to boot into recovery first...den clean cache and reset data...else u might get boot loop.

Well...d fastest way is thru fastboot...buh d deal is...after flashing, tecno has a mind of its own. Normally, u shud be able to boot into ur custom recovery d same way u boot into ur stock recovery (seeing as u av replaced ur stock wiv d custom). Unfortunately, u'll get stuck @ d tecno logo. So, flashing is only half d process...accessing is d other half.

Abeg ooooo....any fellow crackhead in d house...how do you convert a .zip file to a .img file for flashing wiv fastboot Tried flashing brainrex's romdump.zip...."no system.img found". Ok...tried flashing d individual system.tar file..."FAILED (Remote: flash write failure)".
Abeg...I need am badtly. Thanx.
Plus I need to get CWM recovery working on my fone. I swear, if I see my stock recovery screen again, I go do wetin I been do for 1947.



Oh yes...and any1 who did a nandroid backup of their stock rom, abeg, forward me d backup...or @least d system image of it.



Also, @Xanders, try port some ICS feel into custom roms...ICS is actually android's best OS, followed by Gingerbread, then Jellybean...so, some ICS on our devices would do us a world of good. Internal memory and RAM shudnt be an issue since we already knw our way around that. #justASuggestionSha.

the script inside the file will look for a linuxswap partition on your sdcard..and when it doesnt find oneee....
it will get very angry and .....

...and a hungry script is an angry script. It will chop ur fone and leave u with a bricked paperweight.

Aii, serzly, I cud say I av clockwork...(If I did d right thing tho) but still avnt been able to access it. I actually flashed my recovery wiv d cwm6 buh I can't boot into recovery. I dey find brainrex, make im come hot seat, do Mr. Lecturer for us.

naijathings: what do u really mean by that? if i want to use nairaland.mp3 as my start up tone, then I have to rename it to the already existing sound and I save it in my phone... and what next

If u wanna use nairaland.mp3 as your startup tone, u rename nairaland.mp3 to startup.mp3 (or whatever d startup tone is called), den replace said startup tone with d nairaland.mp3 dat u just renamed.

elegale: if your fone is rooted, you can actually change d jingles. replaced the start-up tone with the shutdown tone, so that i'm using d shutdown tone for both start-up and shutdown. if u have shorter mp3 files, u can use them...just make sure that they av the same name as the files u intend to replace, else #superBrick.

Link2sd: happened to me too, but solved it. go to link2sd settings and "recreate mount scripts". that should work. oh, reboot your fone before and after recreating d scripts.

D gingerbean ROM comes pre-rooted...unfortunately, u cant do anything rootwise wiv it...not until u update superuser and link2sd...plus reboot ur fone.

aIIkae: I just finished flashing this now.
U removed the tecno 'jingle' and put a longer and more annoying one. Bad.

xanders: Good to flash man. now if in the unforeseen future anything goes wrong with your n3 you simply restore the system.yaffs2 and userdata.yaffs2 using AIO.

lol..its N3 o..its a test mod using an android status bar app. I guess the script for the 3rd party status app is written for single sim androids like s2, s plus, etc. hence, the single network indicator

chairman...i actually downloaded these files and flashed the cwm into my fone. Pls, how do I use the ASM (as ADB isnt recognizing my fone) to flash the ROM? Tried it with flashboot...didnt work. Thanx pal.

Hi guys...sorry if I'm posting dis in thw wrong plcae buh I gat a prob. My tecno N3 boots and stops @ d tecno logo...den my screen does this whitish blinky thingy as if my screen's got a prob. Anyways, on further research, I discovered either of 2 possibilities: my fone is bricked or my os/rom is corrupted.

Nw, d thing is I need a full rom/os backup so that I can restore my phone through the recovery module. Please, can anyone upload his full os/rom backup for me and send me a link, as the android os for N3 is fairly new and not available online.

I'll be truthful & just state the facts...I don't av any experience watsoever with things like this, but I'm willing to learn...plus I'm already computer inclined (done some lil software dev here and there). So, I'm interested in managing spam in any of the forums.

@seun: you r really doin a very good job...setting up a place like this is no small feat (wiv over 900k members, hmmmm....we wait for the 1million mark and we shall celebrate that with you). Its your brainchild and you'll know how best to handle it, but in my opinion, pls, don't sell it out...you could do like Bill Gates and hire someone as CEO, buh u still remain d owner. Nairaland has become a brand, synonymous wiv you.
