All through this time, GEJ treated teh boko haram crises like vengeance against his administration by the northern elites. He ignored the army all the while, ignoring to deal with the situation. Throughout this period, the budget spending on defence was over 7 billion dollars in the total 4 seven years excluding security votes dashed out to most nothern PDP governors in the name of fighting boko haram. This amount is 20 times more than that of uganda and chad, ethiopia . While the latter(most of their fighter jets were bought from russia) was acquiring generation fighter jets we were running after second hand value alpha jets. It took the kidnap of the chibok girls and the approaching general election for the administration to wake up to its responsibility. Before then tens of thousands of lives had been lost to GEJs indecisiveness.
