DaveWonder:
Good day house, I just need encouragement from you all. I entered UK early this month and I've been job hunting, mehn it hasn't been easy at all. I apply not less that 20 jobs daily and I keep getting the unfortunately mail. I live around Manchester. Just want my senior men to encourage me cos sometimes when I see the mail, it kills my moral but regardless I'll keep applying, hoping this phase will pass soon.
Applying for almost 20 jobs in a day is not enough. Align your CV as others had said and make sure you have a cover letter for every application. Search CV-warejouse, total jobs, reeds, etc and ensure you apply for at least 50 in each day for a week. You need to read some job specification and tailor your cv to it. E get why oh. Na computer dey screen you out. So you too give computer what he want

1. Get a UK format CV and come up with at least 2 different CVs. One for cleaning, casual warehouse and production job and one for your professional data analyst job.

2. Go to indeed, CV warehouse, CV-library and search for warehouse and production job. Make sure your cv aligns with the job specifications and ensure you send at least 30 applications in a day for a week then come back and testify. If you or your wife have a car, try and drive to the venue of the day of interview- e get reason for this.

Good luck.

Hello,

Please I am new in the UK for the past week, I've collected my BRP (which comes with NIS), opened a bank account, registered with a GP,... Is there anything I need to do?

Please I want to ask for job recommendations, any job at all. I live in Woolwich London, is their genuine job agencies I can register with to fasten my job hunting. Please I need suggestions, as I have no one here for guardian. Every relation and friends I had while in Nigeria has turned their back at me for reasons I can't fathom. Please brothers, you people are my last resort.

Thank you all. Hoping to get my stand through this platform .[/quote]

Two questions my ogas here please:

1. For mortgage purpose, I want to switch my current account which is also my salary account from Lyold to Barclays. Is it okay because I haven't seen anyone here saying he got mortgage from Lloyd.

2. Can I still open a LISA account at 40 something age?

Thank you

Elders in the house, please how do you cut cost on car repairs in this UK?

I was recently charged £630 to replace REAR brake pads, brake disc and and brake callipers on a 2012 Honda Jazz... just rear brakes oo.

I later checked the prices of those parts on ebay and its about one-third of what I was charged at the garage. The price difference looks ridiculous but I'm also concerned about the genuineness of the parts listed on ebay.

Any pointers will be appreciated.

By the way, Honda Jazz is a very reliable car for starters. Drove about 9k in 1 year without any issues; serviced once and replaced rear brakes components. Glad I followed oga Lexus recommendations.
For me oh, what I do is to order the parts through RRG Toyota and I get good price from them. I don't have to service the car from them but I take the parts to my mechanic. Ordering from Company like that gives you rest of mind and they can't make mistake because they will get your car details and sketch out exactly what you need. Even if they do, they still will return it at their cost

If you are already residing in uk, you should by now be attending church or mosque for information. Otherwise browse rightmove and you will get what you want. If you do not have a particular place in mind among these areas, I will advise you choose Huddersfield or Halifax which is the center to anywhere but a bit far from York. 25 mind to Leeds, 15 mins to Bradford, 40 mins to Manchester etc

Greater Manchester plenty and big. Just make sure you avoid the main city. I will suggest you fo Rochdale or Oldham and you can easily enter Manchester within 20 minutes for work. I would have recommended Altrincham but na oyinbo pepper full there and I don't think it is good for jjc

[Tell your husband to pay for a day bus ticket and check through those companies from BD17 where you are to bd19 areas, to Halifax and Leeds and brighouse. There are lots of companies in that axis with sign post outside looking for warehouse staff. Also there are lot of care jobs in bradford if your hubby can get a car. For professional job, he needs to keep applying but he should start doing something to bring money home for bills because that your employer no get job for you oh. And bills must be paid.

Well since you are dependant, why don't you begin to look for audit job now instead of care job. Your COS should give you enough time to qualify and switch. To get audit job, go to top 10 audit firm and register on their website. State it clearly you are available for contract role too and at any time. You will most likely get a contract role for numerous clients and after a while, full time job with COS is sure
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by elengine: 9:58pm On Aug 11, 2023
Without thinking twice, I would go with Coy A. However, I know that audit job is hot cake here and I am also an auditor so I know it is an occupation that is highly in demand but I will only advise you to go for B if I know the stage you are in your professional exam and we are sure you would qualify. It seems your mind is made up for coy B but make sure that your passing of the exam is sure pa. By the way, which of the exam are you writing? Do you have ICAN from Nigeria? If you do, and you are writing acca then I will ask you to opt for ICAEW Pathway as well to accelerate your qualification

The way some people on this thread belittle others working in the healthcare profession is not just wrong but also condescending. To some, it is believed that healthcare assistant is all about packing sh!t. Thats myopic. Lol. The healthcare industry is very broad and has high earning potentials. As a mental health support worker, you can earn as much as £25 per hour with minimal experience on the job. More experienced workers earn up to £40 per hour and above by just sitting down all day or night taking records or making sure things are done properly in the facility. Complex care support for children with learning difficulties pays very high even more than many office workers. Its an industry that offers huge potentials and opportunity to grow with readily available hands on training provided by most employers.

Let's erode that mindset that all healthcare workers are at the bottom of the career food chain (salary wise) when in reality many earn far more than workers in other industry. A friend of mine who studied mechanical engineering both in his undergraduate and UK masters level made a lot of money in complex health care and has started his own care company. Today he is an employer of labor and a director after undergoing several training.

You don't need to make yourself feel highly by bringing others down. For healthcare assistants, while you are motivated to grow your career within or outside the care profession, do not let anyone make you look down on your hustle. You can make good money in this profession without doing personal care with the little experience you can gather. And if you choose to get other professional jobs in line with your academic qualifications, great! Care Experience can be useful for jobs roles in customer support, human relations, because you are able to manage emotions of people with varying degree of temperament and mental stability.

May God bless everyone with a legit hustle. Amen
Hmmm bro. Honestly I think you misconstrued the message I was trying to pass. I am on HCA dependent visa and I hope you know that I cannot be throwing a stone while I live in the glass house.

What I meant was than an HCA especially the dom usually pays higher insurance premium because of the risk inherent in their job. So the insurance thinks I am also an HCA but I was hiding it. More so, I am the one paying for my wife's insurance too who happens to an HCA. I believe it is clear now. Apologies once again. Na evening school I go and that is why I could not ensure clarity in my message.

People of God oh. Two things that I need your guide on:

1. I work in a multinational company here in the north(smiles) and they are giving me a credit card in my name and to be delivered to my home. My question is, will this card contribute to my credit score even though it is issued through my employer but in my name and my address. The essence of the card is for me to use any time I want to embark on a journey as an auditor. I can also use it to make some purchases as long as it is business related and my employer will be responsible for funding or replenishing it.

2. Marshmallow insurance is asking me to provide my job offer for them to verify the business I do based on the information I provided while filling their policy form. Meanwhile this is coming after 1 month of registration and I have paid like 400 pounds in advance. Now I pay 170 every month for a 2007 honda crv. Do you think I should course their mamas and ask to cancel my policy or I should ignore them. I feel very pained that they are not believing me. They thought everyone is a healthcare worker

The truth is that women behave this way when they don't trust you or your judgement when it comes to finance. It is either she has been suspecting you for chasing ladies while in Nigeria or she noticed any sign of financial recklessness.
Women generally belief that one of the ways to stop an 'alagbere' is to ensure he does not have enough money to start chasing women. She may also think you spend too much on your siblings and parents leaving little for you and her.

What she is doing is to ensure that you spend your entire earnings while she keeps her own for the family and project.

If that is your case, you need to begin to put things in order and demonstrate to her that you are now a changed person. She will change with time unless she has grown and fallen into the hand of big women society in youkay.
