We are first time (but very keen & enthusiastic) farmers! We are about to lease 10acres of land (good land, close to water spring etc, close by Abeokuta) and we intent on planting maize on it.

We have few questions, we know you are very busy right now but still hope you can help:

* soil test - shall we do that beforehand and what is the best soil for maize crops?

* to clear the land and all other formalities means we are looking at planting towards the end of May. Is that a good period still since the rains will have increased?

* seeds and fertilization. You mentioned you treat the seeds to reduce the use of fertilizer. Will be grateful if you share your experience on this in more detail, what chemical do you use and how it is done?
We will likely outsource the planting etc but I must understand the process fully first so I am able to follow up on what is being done and if it is being done correctly.

segzeybaba, and everyone - do u know if you request your personal data (http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/navigation/personal-data/ ) do u nee to do that from Nigeria, so the reply is sent to ur home address in Nigeria, or u can get someone (eg. the person inviting you to the UK) to request that on your behalf so the results are sent to his address?

also what doc should be sent to confirm my identity? Copy of passport andcopy of bill or university doc or anythg shd be sufficient?
Do you know whether it matters if the cheque for £10 is sent from friends UK bank account ( mine is in Naira, )

I guessed there aint no other way to find out abt this 10yrs ban apart from re-applying for visa,
If anyone knows another way of finding out whether you were given a ban, by calling Home Office in the UK or BHS in Lagos,, or anything, pls speak up!

Iv been reading this forum and and just wanted to say well done for all d practicaladvices and generally the good spirit here.

I have a question - how can you find out when a UK visa has been refused, whether there is a 10 years ban on the person reapplying, or not?
Is there any way you can verify that with the Home Office maybe?
In the refusal letter there isnt anything mention about a ban, jet some documents couldnt be verified,
