The Cross River State Government led by Governor Ben Ayade has approached the Supreme Court challenging the six-count charge against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen for non-declaration of assets.


The suit was filed by the Attorney General of Cross River State on behalf of the state government, reports The Sun.

The Government wants the court to set aside the suspension and trial of Justice Onnoghen at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.


The Federal Republic of Nigeria, FRN, and the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF were joined as defendants in the suit marked SC/45/2019.

Financial inclusion entails bringing into financial scheme people who do not have access to it. This include
People without bank accounts
People whose place of residence is far from any kind of formal financial services.
And by financial services, I mean having access to banking services either through the DMB(deposits money banks) or through mobile money operators.
It is believed that all the total bank accounts in Nigeria amounts to about 40million(some people own more than 1)
While the numbers of adults in Nigeria is well over 90 million.
So a greater percentage of this adults are not in the formal financial scheme hence the term financial inclusion.
This is a serious concern to both The Nigerian government and international bodies as it makes it difficult to effectively calculate the total float in the economy and a major hindrance to the cashless economy policy. We also have bodies like Efina. (Empowering financial inclusion in Africa) who also seek to improve financial inclusion by carrying out accurate research and giving grants to financial institutions to help propagate financial inclusion.
